Is there anything everyone agrees on as either good or bad?

Experiencing extreme pleasure to the point where it kills you is also unique. Why not go that way? Say, massive drug overdose?

The question, unfortunately, is whether everyone can agree that something is either good or bad - not whether something is true.

shorty got you on that one.

How smart does that make you feel, sorty? :D

OP - not good or bad, just can we agree on anything:
I'm guessing everyone agrees that breathing is a good thing. But, can everyone agree on anything else?

It drifted off into good and bad because assumptions were made that everyone would agree on what was good (or bad).

noooooooooo we have to say a statement and see if everyone can agree its a "good" thing or a "bad" thing.

water is good

I mean: benevolent, aids all life, compose 70% of Earth and its living creatures.

let me see what you got against that one

Heard of di-hydrogen monoxide?
It's a spoof on water (H[sub]2[/sub]O).
It describes its lethality and corrosive power.
* Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
* Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
* Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
* DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
* Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
* Contributes to soil erosion.
* Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
* Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
* Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
* Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
* Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
* Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
* Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.

From:
http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html

"(DHMO) is a scientific name for water that is relatively unknown to most of the public, used in hoaxes that illustrate how the lack of scientific knowledge and an exaggerated analysis can lead to misplaced fears. "Di" meaning two, and "Mono" meaning single, describes how water is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom (H2O).

The hoax involves listing strictly negative effects of water, such as erosion or drowning, attributing them to "dihydrogen monoxide", and then asking individuals to help control the seemingly dangerous substance."

but i must correct myself, even if is a hoax, some people believe in that hoax, so we don´t agree on that one:eek:

In addition to which the listed properties are true...
for example, 427 deaths by drowning in the UK in 2002.

Cerbera odollam, a plant that grows in India and southeast Asia, is also known as the "suicide tree" because people munch it to kill themselves. Apparently, it's also used to rub out young wives who aren't well-liked by their in-laws.

Crap, I´m giving up... there is no good or bad... just illusions and thoughts created by our brains...

I think this is a good thought, and just by saying that, I´m contradicting what I just said, isn´t this weird?

Title: Is there anything everyone agrees on as either good or bad?

 __

Okay.
Stupidity is bad.

We need stupid ppl to balance out the smart ppl
Why should we "balance" out the smart people?
How much better would the world be if they weren't balanced out.

stupid ppl need other stupid ppl to talk too
So if there were no stupid people there'd be no need for stupid people.
And bear in mind that stupid people (just because they're stupid) don't agree on things anyway.

stupid ppl are around for smart ppl to laugh at for entertainment
If you're really smart you don't need stupid people to laugh at.
alternatively you could just laugh at the less smart... :D

stupid ppl let smarter ppl get further ahead in life
Further ahead than what? Stupid people?
The lack of stupid people wouldn't keep them back since their qualities would be recognised as managers wouldn't be stupid either.
Smart people recognise their own capabilities and don't go looking for advancement beyond those capabilities.

No, the point isn't that there is no good or bad, the point is that there is most certainly good and bad, but those perceptions are not, and will never be, universal.
