No. You don't seem to understand. Car accidents can't be prevented. Pregnancy can.

Wrong. Both can be prevented TO SOME EXTENT but not completely. Neither a condom or seat belt will protect you completely.

The minute she created it she gave it rights.

Really? Interesting reasoning. Why should a single cell that was just created have rights?

True, but consent to sex is acceptance of the fact that something can go wrong.

Yes exactly. I accept the fact that my birth control may fail. Therefore I have a plan B. Abortion.

False. Preganancy can be 100% prevented. The person just need not have sex.

I already answered this question. Because it will become an adult.

So if you don't want children period, you should go your whole life without ever having sex.

Ridiculous, and far out of proportion to the hazard.

I already answered this question. Because it will become an adult.

And that matters why? There are plenty more women out there who WANT children and will go ahead and have them. Humans aren't exactly dying out.

Why does this potential make a zygote sacred? So much that you prioritize it's 'rights' over the autonomy of an actual, existing adult?

This thing about people having a right to live looks good on paper but I think the argument is misplaced. There are tons of people ALREADY LIVING (meaning that they have: developed into conscious beings; consumed valuable resources; caused people to love them and care for their well-being) who die unnecessarily every single day. Shouldn't we focus on that problem before we insist on bringing the maximum number of people into this twisted civilization?

Also, why do you think an innocent should be forced into the role of visceral_instinct's child? If I was raised by VI and found out that you had prevented my abortion, I'd smack you into another dimension. Should we torture death row inmates because "hey, at least we're not killing them"? My point is this: if a person wants to have an abortion, they aren't going to love their child and I don't think you have the authority to put the parent, never mind the child, through that.

I can understand forcing women to keep their children alive if there was a shortage of people on earth and we were facing extinction. That's not the case.

Ridiculous how? If you don't want to get shot at, then it is only logical to not join the army

Because we have no right to decide that that lifeform should not be granted the right to life.

Because sex is about far more than just babies, for humans.

It's about bonding and communion, and people have a strong need for it.

Because we have no right to decide that that lifeform should not be granted the right to life.

Ummmmm....who says? Who made that rule?

You?

You are not God, and even if you were, I wouldn't let you tell me what to do with my internal parts.

Interesting analogy since you're the one taking the side of getting to choose who lives. I'm not telling you what to do. Nor have I told you what to do.

You said, we have no right.

Saying that is unreasonable since the rights it gives are grossly out of proportion.

You are saying a woman should put a zygote first, and accept that her body and her autonomy come second.

She is a human who can think, feel, have hopes and fears, etc.

The zygote is one cell. One.

Why should it have the right to use her body? Why should it come first?

No i'm saying she should have thought of the consequences before she acted.

Because she allowed it to happen.

No i'm saying she should have thought of the consequences before she acted.

And women usually do. Hence coils, birth control tablets, and condoms.

Because she allowed it to happen.

And? She had sex therefore she should be punished by being forced to keep the pregnancy? Since when is it anyone's place to punish her for having consensual sex?

True, but this is not the case all the time.

No, she should have the baby because it's unfair to it to deny it life. It's not anyone's place to punish her for it, but then since when has childbirth been a punishment?

Unfair? How can you commit an injustice against something that is not even conscious? That's like saying I am being unfair to my scrunchies, or my tube of lip balm...

And childbirth is a punishment if you can abort but someone forces you to keep it.

But, it will be an adult and will be concious.

Nobody can force you to have it, unless you are underage.

Will be, being the operative word. A blueprint is not a house. An acorn is not a small oak tree.

So you personally don't like abortion but feel a woman should have the choice? Fair enough. :)

And, you can force an underage girl to have a baby? Eekies..thank fuck I'm no longer underage!!!!!!

But does that mean the blueprint can't become something good?

Well, technically right. Spiritually I believe it's wrong, therefore I don't condone it whatsoever. However politically (being a Liberatarian) I believe it is your decision ultimately and that it is your choice. I can try to persuade you all I want, but ultimately it's up to you. Who am I to run your life?

Yeah, there was a case in which the parents forced there daughter to have it.

If you want that child, it's good.

If you don't want something growing in you, it's not.

Fair enough. That's a position I can respect.

Yeah, there was a case in which the parents forced there daughter to have it.

Jesus!! That is terrible

Let's turn this thing around.

Why SHOULDN'T a woman have an abortion?

Where's the wrong in getting rid of a lump of tissue?

Because that's what it is, during early development. Why should its 'rights' trump hers?

i hate to break it to you, but that's what it is during late development too, and throughout it's life, and it's what we put in a box when it's dead. we are all lumps of tissue from beginning to end. the only difference being a level of maturity.

We are independent beings who can think and feel.
