More young men in jail than college

Meth also seems to be the drug of choice for many Latinos as well.
Some interesting info on the subject:

What is happening here?

I don't have the latest figures. But this is an incredibly poor outlook for the future unless urgent steps are taken to remedy/reverse this situation.:bawl:

Education is the only real answer to any problem. The more educated one becomes, the less there are in prison.

Brilliant, white people should make some kind of laws that give people with darker skins a better chance at a education over themselves.

That should solve this little problem.

According to a report by the Justice Policy Institute in 2002, the number of black men in prison has grown to five times the rate it was twenty years ago. Today, more African-American men are in jail than in college. In 2000 there were 791,600 black men in prison and 603,032 enrolled in college. In 1980, there were 143,000 black men in prison and 463,700 enrolled in college.

I believe prior attempts by the exemplary light skinned intellectuals over a span that extended centuries have successfully led to the development of the dark skinned natives (myself included, as a mongrel of those self same natives); our educational standards though palpably low and battling valiantly against soaring, starving populations grasping at a daily subsistence, have nevertheless, in segments, reached a semblance of literacy comparable to the lowest of the low in the self sustaining economies of the paleface.

They did it was called Affirmative action, Quotas/Revers Discrimination

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action_in_the_United_States

Affirmative action refers to policies intended to promote access to education or employment aimed at a historically socio-politically non-dominant group (typically, minorities or women). Motivation for affirmative action policies is to redress the effects of past discrimination and to encourage public institutions such as universities, hospitals and police forces to be more representative of the population.

This is commonly achieved through targeted recruitment programmes, by preferential treatment given to applicants from socio-politically disadvantaged groups and in some cases through the use of quotas.

This problem.

Perhaps you might focus your attention on the fact that it is a change in the same demographic over a span of 20 years, viz. a within group comparison. To what do you attribute the change?

You're my favourite font, Sam!

Actually I think I can call myself a Font of Wisdom as an ex Master Printer turned DTP.

We really don't need so many fonts..I remember when we moved to pagemaker and design on Apple-Macs and 500 fonts seemed so exciting..pity we only ever used about 5 of them.

I digress...back to err..

All I can add is that I'm mystified by why there should be a lack of Black Cereal Killers..is because they prefer Soul food?

Is there a reason why no one is willing to address the relative changes within a demographic in an advanced country, without resorting to prejudicial assessment?

PS one may wonder at the length of time you sipped at the Pierian spring, perhaps a good old fashioned head dunking is in order.:bugeye:

The African and Hispanics cultures lack of interest or even dislike for America's education system has had a negitive impact on America's youth.

Please support your claim with evidence of the lack of interest in the education system.

That is not evidence of a lack of interest in education

For example, can you show me dropouts by socio economic status and ethnicity?

What you are showing here is a snapshot statistic, that indicates a similar trend in all ethnicities. But it would appear that the problem is a consistent one in all groups. (Also your data is for the period before 1992, after which data collection methods were altered, so that we are unable to reach any conclusions on the trends in school dropouts before and after 1992).

In fact, according to your data there is a decrease in the dropout rates in high schools across population groups, which is contrary to your claim. Do you have the data between 1993 and 2007?

What more you want?

Who cares why, the fact still remains the blacks and hispanics lead the way in influncing America youth in abandoning education.

That would be the small influnce that American culture has had on African and Hispanic cultures to not abondon a chance at a American education.

There is alot more influnce from the "hip hop" culture then just music and baggy pants.

We have already had this conversation in your previous incarnation as D'ster;

Correlation is not causation.

If it is your intention to use statistics to make your point, I suggest you acquaint yourself with the basic premises of statistical analysis and interpretation.
