More Ukrainian Events

According to Putin's irregular troops operating in Ukraine, a battalion of Russian uniformed troops are spending their vacation time fighting for Putin's paid mercenaries inside Ukraine.

Kiev, Ukraine (CNN) -- A top Ukrainian army officer said a "full-scale invasion" of his country was under way Thursday, as a U.S. official said up to 1,000 Russian troops had crossed Ukraine's southern border to fight alongside pro-Russian rebels. U.S. officials said Russian troops were directly involved in the latest fighting, despite Moscow's denials. Rebels backed by Russian tanks and armored personnel carriers fought Ukrainian forces on two fronts Thursday: southeast of rebel-held Donetsk, and along the nation's southern coast in the town of Novoazovsk, about 12 miles (20 km) from the Russian border, according to Mykhailo Lysenko, the deputy commander of the Ukrainian Donbas battalion."This is a full-scale invasion," Lysenko said, referring to the fighting in the south. Ukraine: Russians captured in east Intelligence now indicates that up to 1,000 Russian troops have moved into southern Ukraine with heavy weapons and are fighting there, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

This should be interesting.

Well, no, I am talking about what is ACTUALLY happening. All my power (including the power my car uses) comes from solar. And that sort of thing is increasing rapidly worldwide:...
This could be worthy of it's own thread. If oil and gas weren't for the foreseeable future a life and death matter, Europe wouldn't care about ending it's relationship with Russia.

Is "shale oil" the answer to "peak oil"?

Answer: with a lot of luck, it might delay the inevitable recession a bit longer. It is not likely to restart the prosperity of the cheap oil age. And it's not reversing US peak production which has been declining for 25 years.

Considering that that analysis is 3 years old and in the meantime The Oil Drum has been shut down due to irrelevance, I'd say that's been pretty solidly falsified.

The reality is that since prudent analysis dictates conservative analysis, the US oil outlook continues to improve with each new report. US production has been rising for about five years and is currently projected to about match the previous peak.

Plenty of wars have been fought not over "life and death" but profits. Europeans want to make money as much as Americans do.

Indeed, perhaps it is time NATO troops took a vacation in Ukraine, just like those illegally vacationing Russian troops currently vacationing in Ukraine.

It will be interesting to see if Youreyes keeps up his denials.

Those aren't the people who decide foreign policy. The people who DO decide (and who influence those who decide) want to make money.
I guarantee if that happens, those are also the people who will make foreign policy.

IF there was a Russian military invasion of Ukraine, Kiev would be under Russian control since long ago. As for claims of 10 Russian military men being captured, well bravo, about 1000 Ukranian military men have so far succeeded to Russia.

These Russian military men have been captured at Ukraine border patrolling the border, they were forced to come over Ukraine side and are now used as pawns in the next charade of a blame game. Since Ukraine is starting to loose its positions, the Russian military is being blamed for all the faults and incompetency of US led assault on East Ukraine.

So let me see if I have this right:

You are claiming the Ukranians mounted an invasion of Russia, captured Russian military units, brought them back over the border, and is now lying about it? Wow, I had no idea you considered the Russian military that incompetent. Putin is going to look like a fool once he admits that Ukranians are able to just walk into Russia, capture military assets and leave again.

You say US led assault on East Ukraine. Who are they leading? Is it Canada?

US is leading the assault with its intelligence and arms supplies to Ukraine army that is being controlled by Kiev. Canada is financing it as well.

The border between Ukraine and Russia isn't North Korea and South Korea, is easy to cross. There is a huge outflow of Ukranians to Russia, not just civilians but also Ukraine army men who do not want to kill their own under patronage of USA. The 10 military men from Russia were patrolling this huge inflow and were captured by the Ukranian army. What more to be said?

Or is 10 Russian military men, is classified as an invasion? LOL.

Funny, just a few posts ago Youreyes had represented Russians as supermen. My how things change in Mother Russia. NATO has pictures of uniformed Russian units operating in Ukraine. http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-emergency-un-nato-eu-meetings-invasion-claim

Putin is a lying sack of shit. This stuff might work at home where he controls the press and uses his position to suppress dissent. But it doesn't work in the free world. Putin isn't fooling anyone but the Russian fools. I think further Western sanctions are inevitable. I wouldn't be surprised to see more sanctions levied against Russia as early as next week. http://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...6f1336-2eec-11e4-bb9b-997ae96fad33_story.html

And this may end with Ukrainian membership in NATO.

Uh oh! Now both Putin and the Russian defense ministry says you are lying! They said they were actually in the Ukraine when they were captured. My mistake, of course.

"From what I heard – they patrolled the border, so could have ended up on Ukrainian territory. "
"The servicemen in question were indeed patrolling the Russian-Ukrainian border. They had probably crossed it by mistake through an area which wasn’t manned."

What will we do. now that the man you worship has called you a liar? Or is he lying?

language barriers exist everywhere. Handpicking or as joepistole likes to say it, "cherrypicking" is hardly a positive aspect of a human psychology.

They were patrolling the border and crossed over to Ukraine side of border while pursuing some men presumably, and got arrested. Now this whole story is being thrown into misproportion.

Actually, there is a difference between cherry picking and hand picking. And it was more than getting lost. You and Putin want us to believe a senior Russian Army officer go lost...really? Are Russian troops that incompetent? Further, as has been pointed out to you, the captured Russians are telling a story that is not consistent with the story Putin is telling. And that is not unusual. We have wittnesed it several times. Putin's recorded statements are frequently inconsistent and contradictory.

this is a war. you want truth? you go to battle, just like the American Ukranian who got shot down just recently.
