Irish fly the Palestinian flag in solidarity

In Republican areas this summer the Palestinian flag has been strung up alongside the Irish tricolour, whilst Unionists have reacted with a profusion of Israeli flags displayed alongside the Union Jack.

The notorious Loyalist leader Johnny ‘Mad Dog’ Adair, has reportedly even draped his pet alsatian Rebel with a Magen David flag. Loyalist paramilitary wings have a long history of connections with neo-Nazi groups such as Combat 18.

A Sinn Fein spokesman said: “It’s true that historically the republicans have been more associated with the Palestinians, and the Loyalists have looked more towards the Israeli side.

“But right now I think the majority of republicans actively identify with the Palestinians, whereas with the Loyalists it’s more of a reaction rather than being based on any ideological feelings.”

Performing artists avoiding Israel

Backing out of a concert performance with the legendary conductor Zubin Mehta is like skipping a golf date with Tiger Woods or a dinner with Julia Child. But the unthinkable is becoming epidemic here as the world's great musicians take a pass on Israel because they fear for their security or disagree with the government's policies.

"Fifty percent or more of the foreign artists have canceled," said Mehta, music director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In the current production of Richard Strauss's opera "Salome," he said, "we've had eight cancellations in the cast."

The orchestra announced today that it was forced to cancel an eight-concert tour in the United States next month because no insurance company would cover the performances due to concerns about possible terrorist attacks, said a spokeswoman for the orchestra, Dalia Meroz.

"They think our orchestra is a target for terrorism," Meroz said.

Israel also used to be a regular stop on the pop music circuit, hosting the likes of Madonna, Eric Clapton, R.E.M. and Santana. But it has been more than a year since a mega-star played here. In some cases, Israeli artists have been disinvited from playing abroad. And the Tel Aviv film festival was canceled this year because the organizers feared no stars would come.

The problem goes beyond the arts. In March, the European football federation suspended soccer matches in Israel, citing security concerns. Israeli home games are scheduled to be played in Cyprus.

Influential academics, angry at the Israeli government's actions against Palestinians, are pushing a boycott of Israel that hundreds of university professors have joined. And on the economic front, some Norwegian supermarkets label Israeli products with stickers so customers can decide whether to buy them.

"Israel is not the flavor of the month, that's for sure," Mehta said. "The world is turning against it."

Arabs boycott U.S. goods

Zamzam Cola- which previously exported only to Iraq and Afghanistan - is benefiting from a grass-roots campaign by Arabs and Muslims to boycott American goods as a way to punish the United States for its backing of Israel. Set off by the latest Palestinian uprising, the boycott is especially directed at well-known American products like Coca Cola and McDonald's.

"After Arab countries in the region started boycotting some American goods, including Coca, demand for Zamzam began," said Bahram Kheiri, the Iranian beverage company's director.

He wouldn't give sales figures, but said Zamzam has started exporting to Bahrain and is discussing orders with "about 50 big companies" in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Indonesia. Zamzam is sweeter than Coke and has a built-in appeal for Muslims because it takes its name from a holy spring in Saudi Arabia.

The boycott is being urged across the Middle East and North Africa by Muslim preachers, students, intellectuals and - in Saudi Arabia, a main U.S. ally - even some advisers to the Saudi king. The appeal is delivered inmosque sermons, leaflets and Internet sites.

It's difficult to say how hard American companies are being hit by the boycott - and how much of the economic pain is inflicted on Arab businesses selling U.S. products.

Of the six McDonald's franchises in Jordan, two have closed for lack of business - one in the capital Amman and one near a Palestinian refugee camp. In Morocco, a government official who asked not to be identified estimated sales of Coca Cola could fall by half in the country's north, a base for Islamic groups. In the United Arab Emirates, sales of the local Star Cola are up by 40 percent in the past three months.

In Dubai, business appears to be down at such American fast food chains as McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Hardee's, and up at local restaurants. In Saudi Arabia - in a sign of concern at the boycott's effect - prices have been cut up to 50 percent on some U.S. imports and ads for fast food franchises point out they are Arab owned and managed.

Respected Muslim cleric Sheik Youssef al-Qaradawi issued a religious ruling in the Gulf state of Qatar saying American products should be viewed like Israeli products - which have long been banned in the Arab world. In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, mosque preacher Sheik Omar bin Saeed al-Badna argued the boycott would be good for the kingdom's economy.

"Boycotting American food and drinks means more business for Saudi, Lebanese and other restaurants, as well as local producers of soft drinks. This will be good for the majority of Saudis," he said.

Britain bans Israel label on goods from West Bank

Supermarkets must no longer use “produce of Israel” labels on vegetables, fruit, flowers, wine and fruit juice grown and packed in the occupied territories of Gaza, the West Bank and the Golan Heights.
The instruction from the Government has angered Israeli diplomats and some businessmen, who believe that the decision is connected to an aggressive campaign for a boycott of Israeli goods.

The Israeli Embassy’s official response is that it is still “studying” the likely impact of the change, though privately representatives say they are shocked by the move. It is the first time the Government has issued instructions that clearly differentiate between Israel and the occupied territories.

It means that produce from Israeli-owned co-operatives and farms in the occupied territories will not qualify for preferential rates of import duties at ports. Exporters will have to pick up the bill or pass on the cost to customers in Britain.

Norway Trade Body Calls For Boycot of Israeli Products

Boycott hits "Saudi American" bank

Deposits at one of the biggest banks in the Middle East, Saudi American Bank (Samba), fell by almost $600m (£410m) in the first three months of the year.

Some Saudi investors are thought to be moving their money to other banks as part of a wider boycott of US products in protest of its perceived bias towards Israel and against Arabs.

Samba is 22.8% owned by the US' Citibank, and is Saudi Arabia's second largest bank with 57 branches and 2,236 employees.

French ANTI ISLAMIC companies also boycott Israel

When yet another French client cancelled sales from Israeli plastic films manufacturer Polyon Barkai Industries recently, marketing manager Haim Levy wrote an open letter to the French media.

“When I see such bias in the French media, I understand why there is such discrimination against Israel, and why so many companies are pulling orders,” Levy said. “Our company’s European sales have declined 30 to 40% since September 11...”

“There is a real problem here,” he added.

Inon Elroy, commercial attache at the Israeli Embassy in France, agreed. “I can’t say that there is not a problem. There is,” said Elroy.

Elroy said there has been a significant decrease in economic activities between the two countries. Over the last few years, trade between France and Israel had increased to more than $2 billion. However, the balance of trade was heavily skewed in France’s favor, with only about 36% of products coming from Israeli producers, and the percentage declining each year.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics’ foreign trade report published this week, exports to the EU, the country’s leading trading partner, fell 7.2% from the beginning of the year, to $1.9b. for the first four months. Exports to France were $213.6m. during the period, while imports were $376.9m. Declines from the same period last year were 17% and 13%, respectively.

With many European companies cancelling orders from Israeli trading partners, Levy said they tend to use one of three types of excuses. “We have distributors who will tell us their clients don’t want to buy Israeli products. Other companies tell us straight out, ‘We won’t buy Israeli.’ The rest blame the cancellation on the economic difficulties in Europe.”

Elroy notes that the problem is not only ideological. “Senior businessmen prefer not to take risks in uncertain situations or invest money in unstable countries. If they have a choice between two similar products from Israel or, let’s say, Singapore, they’d prefer Singapore. Their assumption is that in a time of war economic activities and production are paralyzed.”

Israel: Foreign Investments Shrinking

In yet another blow to the Israeli economy, foreign investors withdrew a net $152 million from Israel in June 2002, according to the monthly report by the central Bank of Israel. Although the bank did not specify the reason for the drop, economists said it was a result of the unstable political situation caused by the deepening Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

A sharp fall in the foreign residents investment was witnessed as investments reached the microscopic sum of $31 million in Israel in Q2 2002. This is compared to $1.025 billion in the first quarter of the year and $4.368 billion in 2001, most of which was invested during the first half of the year.

The withdrawal of foreign investments marks a new drop for the already failing Israeli economy, with inflation, tourism crisis and unemployment presenting greater problems.

Israel Dumps NUCLEAR WASTE in West Bank!!!!

Israel dumps chemical, nuclear waste in West Bank

Palestinian Authority's 'minister for the environment' Yousef Abu Safiyya, has accused (Israel) of turning the Palestinian Authority- ruled area of the West Bank into a vast dumping-ground for its domestic industrial, chemical and nuclear waste, thereby creating a potentially catastrophic environmental nightmare.

The secret dumping was first discovered after the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority (PA), and although some dumping- grounds have been discovered, the minister said that there may still more to be found. He claimed that the PA had the equipment to monitor dumping.

The PA has also discovered hundreds of barrels in the north of the West Bank over the last two years, and are presently talking to Israeli authorities about 223 barrels of toxic waste in the Janin area which the Israelis refuse to collect. "I met with the Israeli minister for the environment and asked her to apply the Basil treaty, which is the relevant international instrument on the movement of toxic material, but she replied that international treaties do not apply to Palestinians because they have no state," Abu-Abu Safiyya said.

The Israelis turned down the request to remove the waste out of hand. "They told us that they could not receive the barrels because Israeli law bans the movement of toxic material inside Israel except on the approval of top officials," Dr Abu Safiyya explained.

Killing civilians only allows the Jews to point you out as monsters. It took king less than ten years to destroy the American apartheid. If you want to really have peace and achieve your goals you should start organizing unarmed resistance. Americans all hate bullies even when we are bullies. The scariest thing to many Americans is the thought that there might be a mass outbreak of rationality among the Palestinians and we might not be able to justify our support for the Israelis actions. I do not personally think that that will ever happen. The Palestinians that I see on the news do not appear to be rational.

43% Of Americans Think That Israel Is The Biggest Threat To World Peace!!!

56% Of Europeans, According To The Eu Poll, Think That Israel Is The Biggest Threat To World Peace!!!!

Killing civilians only allows the Jews to point you out as monsters

....and this biassed image has been/is being/and will continue to be popegated and cultivated by the likes of FOX NEWS. As long as the propaganda continues to shape and define the way the masses (who are generally ignorant with regards to actual factual information regarding the history, anthropolothy, ideology and theology of this region) think and percieve the conflict. Perceive it then believe it, alter the perception hence alter the belief. And so the cycle of ignorance continues:

israelis = civilians = victims Palestinians = terrorists = fundamentalists = irrational. israeli casualties = tragic civilan deaths Palestinian deaths = dealing with terrorists hence justified

It took king less than ten years to destroy the American apartheid.
after how many 100s of years of brutality and opression???(!)

you should start organizing unarmed resistance
big words Ghandi. Very easy to type those words in the comfort of your home under the blanket of freedom in your own country. I'm sure the Palestinians think unarmed resistance against one of the most well equiped and funded armies in the world is a viable option.

I'd like to ask you one question, and I'd apreciate an objective sensible answer please.
Now lets take White europeans of Germanic origin who have converted to Islam. Now do these peoples have any valid inherent right to the land which is now "called" Israel? (but the name is irelevant just answer within the context of that land)

I'd apreciate a sensible answer please.

You will get different opinions from different Israeli's/jews. I guess I would have no problem with converts moving to Israel and getting full citizanship, thats what the Right of Return is all about. But if, in a scenario, the ROR would be abused by great numbers of people converting for the sake of living in higher standards of living... it might have to be changed.

Hello,

I am a pinko chair bound liberal. I also believe in justice, freedom, life and the things that make life fun.

The following is a web site I discovered almost by accident.

People will eventually come to a conclusion. This conclusion will possibly go something like this.

"But what about the poor Isrealis that were blown up on XX date?"

That is also quite true.

We all know when the killing began and who was responsible. Or do we. We should find out conclusively first at least.

In the meantime, this killing must end. Incitement by all sides must cease. Unfortunately that will be the miracle.

And we can all guess why.

And if we don't know why, than we should really find out conclusively at least.

However, my other very relevant bits of information is also quite relevant.

I know that rocks will never beat guns.

I know a RPG could never really pierce a tanks armour.

I know that if I were the father trying to protect his son, I would be devastated.

Are these things really happening?

We should all find out.

I have always wanted to be a little more civilised for whatever reason. It seems much less dangerous maybe and quite a lot of fun.

I make sure I drive my car safely so I don't run over children, a lesson learnt from an earlier stupidity.

My life is full because I too have a family and I would appreciate the same care for my children.

I have begun to find myself in love with them in a way that would be almost irrational. But most parents know this.

To say I found the images disturbing is true.

But it was not the gore.

It was the simple love of a father for his child that moved me. I would be devastated too.

The killing must end now.

If this is true, we must hold something similar to war trials, but which must embrace crimes against humanity.

The silent majority must speak and not be sheep. Spain has shown the way, and lets honour it with the courage it deserves.

What actually pisses me off is that as people, we are so very gullible. I actually think its because we don't really want to know. So the fault is really ours as it was all along.

Unfortunately, there are certain laws now in place all over the world, that can throw one in jail for just about anything. In places where something like a neo-nazi state exists, the inmates actually think they are doing good. More and more of them are beginning to realise that they are confined in this propaganda studio.

What do they do? Do they take the easy road and go for the kill, or do they learn from history and see that there is no need to be afraid of the tyranny within.

They cannot kill everyone. Well not if the army is still peopled by humanity.

These crimes against humanity, if proven to be true, is a crime against anything that we hold as civilisation, or better yet, for those so inclined, against any of the teachings of God.

In all ways, our science and our technology says the same thing. We are from the same species. At some point in our past, we came from the same female.

We have now travelled from that point to here. A remarkable achievement by any standard. We can even philosophise the extension of the human species travelling in space. Why, we want to go to Mars now.

I think its actually not too much to ask for Civilisation. Civilised behaviour, even in business.

Think about it. You know what to do.

OK time to really clarify this ROR issue, because it seems many cannot grasp the basic concept and the relevnace and context.

1)ROR in the actual sense (if we take that to within the doctrine of the old test) refers to the hebrew Israelites ie the peoples indiginous to that land, at that period of time
http://www.al-bushra.org/latpatra/right.htm
this is a crucial factor.

2)next we have to analyse the history + background of the jews of europe who claim ROR + hebrew ancestry ie the zionists AND THEN analyse the ROR issue within THAT historical/anthropological background and then apply THOSE conclusions within the fundemental essence of the ideology of zionism.

ok so lets take this slowly so othdeap can keep up.

3) having assumed 1) has been grasped and understood.
Now we have to 1st analyse what happened to the original hebrew israelites to which and only to which ROR actually applies:
Two main factors applied to the original HI, disspersal over time + conversion to christianity and then Islam.
The ppl living in pal before the migration of european jew into palestine ie: the palestinian arabs are the people who have any true lineage to the ancient HI peoples, and more importantly the mizrahi jews or arab jews who remained jews have been living in peace alongside muslim arabs in the region for centuries.

4) ok now lets go back to 2) and analyse that further:
the euro jews of the germanic/eastern euro area are ashkenazim jews, (from the hebrew word meaning german)
the ashk jews' lineage and history is from the khazar empire:

http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/13trindx.htm

there is NO lineage NO connection to the hebrew israelites at all, this is clear and un ambigious.

5) the zionists who conceived the idea of a "jewish" homeland in palestine were all:
i) ashk jews of eastern european lineage
ii) were aetheists anyway rejecting the torah (but that later)

eastern europeans of germanic/turkik/slav origin have no blood lineage connection to the peoples of ancient israel, and VICE VERSA...this is quite un amiguous.
sharing religious/spiritual beliefs with another peoples does not make you the same peoples this is also clear and un ambiguous.

the above key issue along with 1) now sheds more light on the actualities of the issues rather than the pseudo-religious + racial rhetoric spouted by the zionists.

the first fallacy the zionists had to cultivate and propegate was a denial of their ancestry, and then false claims to HI lineage which is just laughable.
secondly the next step was to shift the burden of focus away from theological + spiritual matters since they had no concern for JUDAISM since they were aethisists, and rejected the torah and judaism out right.
No their cause was purely nationalistic and based on religious and racial fallacy.

one fallacy leads to another, the jews are "a race" well no, I have shown just in this post they are not, are the black falasha jews, ethiopian jews, arab mizrahi jews, iraqi jews, ashkenazim jews, khazar jews, chinese jews all one race????????? no off course they are not, but when you're a zionist you have to further yourself from the truth, deny it, then change it, then propegate it.

what astounds me is that in this age of information there is so much ignorance still on these simple key issues.

Killing civilians only allows the Jews to point you out as monsters.

You know that 3000 Pals. are dead compared to 1000 Israeli's there is numerically simply no compare. The monsters here is the Israeli gov't who illegally occupies Pal. land, it is Israel who started the cycle of violence. She shouldn't even dare complain about what happens to her. I personally think that Pals. should stop attacking Israel proper but if Israel still builds her illegal settlements and invades Pal territory it's free reign.

It took king less than ten years to destroy the American apartheid.

It took America about 300 years to get rid of Institutionalized Racism. King merely was the Nelson Mandela who was the figurehead and hero of a resistance movement that was in existence for hundreds of years. Even in today's America you have almost rampant racism in certain sectors of society.

The scariest thing to many Americans is the thought that there might be a mass outbreak of rationality among the Palestinians and we might not be able to justify our support for the Israelis actions.

Pal. resistance is rational if we think like our ancestors, "an eye for an eye". But that does make the world go blind... the Pals. need to get out of Israel's trap of violence.

The Palestinians that I see on the news do not appear to be rational

Stop watching Fox News, man and learn before you speak. The world is more then a TV screen.

Axes and Undecided,

Don't act like childish brats. While you two are arguing about whether or not each others opinions count; you're dragging this thread down. All your posts have been deleted within this thread, so it doesn't matter anymore, correct?

I wanted my posts (flame posts) to be deleted anyways. I really don’t like getting into flame wars with others. Just wastes me energy and time. Just tell Axes to stop posting irrelevancies please. It does get quite annoying...thank you.
