You do have an oversimplified view of things which is part and parcel of your Biblical outlook.So, let's try again.

It is possible to know of an approaching hurricane but not everyone can prepare for it. Look at the conditions in Burma where the majority live in dire poverty. What preparations would you have such people make ?

You originally blamed the problem on their rulers. Well that fits with our image of a sadistic, Old-Testament God. " The people are suffering under tyrants so let's send them a few more tribulations just for the hell of it !

New Orleans was prepared after a fashion, well the white people were because they could afford to cut and run, so is it Bush's fault that the others
could not do so. Your God sure gets his kicks in mysterious ways his evil to perform.

Had your God not created the world as it is, preparations would have been unnecessary and all those Burmese who have not taken Jesus as their saviuour would not have to endure even more punishment in the next life. If you can't see what a ridiculous stance you are taking, there is no helping you

Lastly, as I previously suggested, if people like you were running the world, we'd have no technology at all; nothing but prayers, Bibles and " we are all in God's hands" bullshit.

But it's still an issue of the ruling government....The Government of Myanmar is the reason they're in poverty. They didn't provide any preparation and their slow to react to foriegn aid...

you know what cracks me up? the way some people will say "your god", as if he belongs to someone, or someone made him up. if there is a god, and i'm not even arguing it, it's safe to say that he is all of ours, as whatever he is, he is what he is, and is for all of us.

I understand what he means but how else can it be expressed?
Without getting into tribal gods vs universal Gods it is often expressed in such a way.
But not as ownership. The Title of God inherently requires a greater or superior relationship of condescending of the deity. It's litteral an expression of devottion not ownership.

That is not so. I have no god, so when I say your god I am rferring to what sense I can make of the god someone else is talking about. For example, Saquist's god strikes me as an evil monsterwho allows evil to happen to innocent people and then punishes them further by denying them heaven because they have not accepted Jesus. Judging by his attributes , I would say he is a sick god who, if he were human, would be incarcerated for the good of soiciety.

Other peoples notions of god are that he is all love, and so on.

So, when I talk of someone's god I am referring the attributes ascribed to him by that person. As I have no god, it is meaninless for me to say "my god". It's as simple as that, which is not to say that iyt will be interpreted that way by a god-botherer, who cannot accept that what he believes as truth is regarded as a fairy tale by anyone with an ounce of intelligence.

you can say "my god does not exist", or "i do not realize that my god exists."

but what i'm saying is, that whether or not you realize that he exists, or you describe him or interpret his behavior, scripture, whatever, in different ways, he is in fact the same god for all of us, whether we all recognize that or not.

and, i have more than an ounce of intelligence, and i know that he exists. what you said here is very condescending and arrogant. i don't believe in god because i read about him somewhere or because anyone else does or said that i should. i believe in him because he's proven his existence to me, and none of that proof was dependent on my level of intelligence.

I beg to differ. Why does he not reveal himself to everyone, if it is all so simple. All you are entitled to say is that you have had personal experiences which you interpreted as being evidence. My experience of life indicates that it is nonsense to talk of a creator, his attributes and so on without an ounce of objective proof. Look at the state of the world and ask yourself whether there is a being who gives a damn about all the suffering.

Let's agree to differ.
