The economist reviewed a book about anti-ageing research: Methuselah' Mixture. It could be worth having a read through. I think it'd be good to treat aging are a medical sub-discipline.
if there was a way to achieve eternal biological life, in the bodies that we have now, and in the world where we live now, would you choose it, or would you rather die?
i'm asking this question because this is what i think the mark of the beast will be; a way to achieve eternal biological life, in the bodies we have now...flaws and all. i think the flaws will be addressed with politics and religion and technology, and the fatal flaw, the question, "who would want to live forever like this?', isn't addressed.
im probably the only one in the world, who would throw a party as soon as i see my first gray hair..im 46, and there are none to be found..
I would prefer to die.
They may find a way to stop the body clock. But eternal life in an imperfect existence is impossible. There will always be accidents, human error, acts of murder, war and episodes of starvation. So while it may become technically feasible to never grow old, sooner or later something is going to get you, you may last 1000 years or even 10,000 years but you would never have eternal life in this imperfect universe.
As for the mark of the beast, i believe it will be a technological device implanted into the head of hand that will be absolutely necessary to have if one wants to buy or sell anything within the empire of the Anti-christ. Anyone who does not receive it be hunted down and beheaded.
All Praise The Ancient Of Days
i could generalize and say that god told me. it's actually why i even registered on sciforums a long time ago. to "spread the news". you can imagine how i was received. haha.
in regards to quality of life...do you have faith in politics, religion, and technology to provide the quality of life you'd want to live forever in?
Religion only spreads hatred, suffering and death, hence diminishes all quality of life.
if there were ppl who were immortal..(or close enough) there would be more attention on long term problems..ie global warming, polution, even colonization of space as these would be a more personal problem not to be defered to other generations..
Yeah, to tell us all how to live with insanity. Thanks for that. We really appreciate it.
you're welcome. it's coming your way...look to the skies...there are signs in the heavens.
I, like many tens of thousand of others, spend some nights looking at the skies through telescopes, Lori. We don't see those signs because we aren't insane and we don't tell others how to live their lives based on psychotic religions.
ever see any ufos?
i took it to mean, "how will there be enough room here for them here?"

I know.. so did I.
Well?
i think it will be a more meaningful dependence than that. i think you'll not only have to depend on them for your livelihood, but also your life. their technology to heal the body will be more advanced (in a twisted kind of way), but you suffer while you live...indefinitely, or even forever. i would suggest this scenario would cause more extensive and intense suffering than we've ever experienced with the inevitable option of death, and is why god will destroy the earth this time by fire.
doesn't that sound like hell adstar?
Huh? Would you please reread my original question? We can clone people. Grow people in test tubes. Sex is obsolete.
