Corona Virus 2019-nCoV

Try working 18 hour days to save your business ( which means everything you own) and knowing you are not only trying to save yourself and your family but the jobs of those who work for you then although you are near collapse smile and show everyone, family, friends, staff bankers, clients and customers that everything is just fantastic.

And quit...well no you just can't quit...the lease...the overdraft...the clients and staff who depend on you to make everything work.
Yep. And then some idiot on an Internet forum says "well, that CEO never risked anything" or "that CEO doesn't know what hardship is."

I am as left as they come, I would say communist except that involves starting with a revolution, but I would love to see all capital in the hands of the state....folk can own huge personal estates if their income permits and there is no reason why folk can't have high income...but why are you so left folk will ask...well to save the stress on business owners not to make Utopia for worker bees...folk never see the ordinary folk that must go under because the system demands it..I watch the small shops come and go...folk don't know what is going on for most of them...they need money cause the business costs so much to run and if all goes ok they survive but so many do not.
They mortgage their home and nibble away their equity until you notice "closing down" sale..what you don't realise the bank has said enough..no more money sell your house and cash us out thank you...and so they do and they rent and happy to be a worker bee...they have lost everything but now life is better somehow.

I was in law and real estate I heard these stories for 35 years...So full socialism I say to protect the most vulnerable of all..the business owner.

Now back on topic.

Workers will suffer from the impact of the virus but there will be many business owners who will lose the lot..and folk think they just lose money, well no the house goes and usually the wife and kids and those folk who they thought were friends...mmm where did they go?

It is time to maybe accept that in the future we will look back to the good old days where you went out without a full protection suit and personal air supply.

My Father had a small business .

He rarely took a " real " vacation . Actually he never did . In essence . Mentally .

Ah, trying to walk back your claim!
Not even close.
Trolling - type specimen.
They get cornered, that's what they do.
You said "Show me the upper level exec who got sick because their sleep schedule was frequently jacked around on less than a day's notice." I showed you two.
No, you didn't.
You posted examples of two guys in near-complete control of their working schedule.

The demonstrated fact that you can't tell the difference between the people getting jacked around and the people doing the jacking not only demonstrates - near proves - my point, but more or less invalidates any claims you make from personal observation in this matter.
You're going into the weeds here.
I'm basically quoting you and Seattle - paraphrasing, but keeping the vocabulary etc intact - in direct, lined up response. My only alteration was to set items from different posts together in one, so that the bizarre foolishness and absurdity of your approach became obvious without scrolling etc.

It's good that you - unlike Seattle - can recognize the weeds when you read them reflected back at you. Now all you need to do is connect the mirror image with the mirrored poster.
If you want to change the topic, perhaps start a different thread?
You are posting your irrelevancies in this thread.
If you are trolling, perhaps try another thread.
If you are having memory/focus issues, perhaps see a doctor.
As I have posted several times now, as a rule of thumb: In a wingnut post, everything after the word "if" is bullshit. (You guys cannot handle that format - you were raised with the bullshit "if", as part of the dominant Republican Party issue framing that took over American corporate media decades ago, and it's all you know.)

Meanwhile, despite your and others's multiple attempts at deflection into personal insult, the connection between the shithead Tribal* Reaganomics that dominate the US and the suddenly (once again) visible decrepitude of the US Federal governance in the face of a long-predicted plague has become visible here - there is a discussion underneath all this bs.

To remember: this plague and the incompetence of the US response has been predicted, known to be inevitable and almost certainly within our lifetimes, described in advance and the US response considered in some detail, for decades now. Hollywood's been making movies about it. The degradation of the CDC in this exact context - its loss of response capability and consequential likely ineffectuality in the face of a viral plague like this - was chosen as a specific example by Jane Jacobs in her last book on American politics, published in 2004. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Age_Ahead Nothing happening now is new, unpredicted, or even surprising, to an ordinary American intellectual. This is the US Republican Party on parade, celebrating its trashing of the US government and society, and it's nothing we haven't seen before, nothing we didn't expect to see again.

You didn't ask for an example of people who didn't have control of their working schedule. You asked to be shown an "upper level exec who got sick because their sleep schedule was frequently jacked around on less than a day's notice." I gave them to you. Now you are angry that I did.

Look, why not try trolling a different thread, and leave this one for discussion of coronavirus?

Do you feel the same pain as the person living on the street? What's new?

Do you think Bill Gates is a horrible person? Who are these terrible people that we are supposed to dislike so much? Is this just looking for a scape goat in troubling times?

That never ends well.
Anyone taking advantage of anyone for profit, I’m not in favor of, are you?

After five years I took a week off sailing my 16ft boat...no Mobil phones back then so each day I would sail to someplace where there was a phone box to ring the office to help the staff or to find out who I had to ring to prevent the end of the world.

This virus..bite the bullet, full protective suits personal air supply and get back to doing stuff.
What did they do in the trenches when the enemy decided to use poisen gas...stay at home until they ran outta gas...well no they put on gas masks and got back to the business of trench digging.
There is a point where we really need to get back in the trenches and start digging.

Disagree Alex

My Fathers Father died from Mustard Gas poisoning , in WW1 . It destroyed his lungs .

So fear of something that could kill you , out of your control , and in which direction it could come , is not reason to be paranoid .
By way of explaining my thoughts:
Rational fear saves your ass where as irrational fear (paranoia) can and often does kill it..

Sorry to hear that River, and I point out that although perhaps a poor ability I believe we may need to consider a future where wearing a protective suit will just be the way it is for many reasons maybe just air quality..let's face it if/ when the whole world goes to our level of pollution is what I suggest unreasonable..I know no one likes the idea but as population grows all these problems will multiply..heck those suits may also need cooling..

You didn't ask for an example of people who didn't have control of their working schedule.
Yes, I did.
That was the topic, the content, the reference of the entire paragraph. People getting jacked around, directly contrasted with the people doing the jacking - such as Irwin Jacobs, a prime example.
That contrast - between the risks run by execs and those run by lower level employees, the risks voluntarily taken and those imposed, the greater risks and the lesser ones - was the subject of my post. You have been complaining about my frequent posting on some such topic - turns out you can't even recognize it smack in your face when it conflicts with your stereotypes.
Look, why not try trolling a different thread, and leave this one for discussion of coronavirus?
You first.

The relevance of the reconstruction of American society around Reaganomics (the rise of fascism) to the US coronavirus response is direct, pertinent, spot on topic.

It appears from the news today that much of the 1st world is pushing to reopen, while the 2nd and 3rd world have only started their run...
If I am not mistaken this "reopening" is partly what caused the deadly 2nd wave in the Spanish flu pandemic. So I do hope this is not going to be a case of history repeating itself.

Economy vs life all over again...

You are actually spot on IMO.
Enviro suit design with in the next 15 years or so will be the new thing...climate change and this and other new viruses will make it necessary.
and yes we go back the discussion of domed self contained cities etc...
