I thought we were talking about eliminating borders?

The obvious problem there is that there's no reason for the warmongers to limit their efforts to other warmongers. Especially if they are confident that everyone else will abjure war in response to them.

Even if 95% of the world rejects war, all that will occur is that the other 5% will have free reign to dominate everyone else through force. Your program requires unanimity, not a simple majority.

You forget I come from the land of satyagraha. BDS the warmongerers and let them do their worst. :p

You forget I come from the land of satyagraha.

Where you come from has no bearing on the universal applicability of your program.

And I'd note that your nuclear-armed land has done plenty of violent resisting, in its time.

BDS the warmongerers and let them do their worst. :p

Not sure what you think BDS means here, but this was exactly the point: they will do their worst, and that will include violent domination of those who do not resist them forcefully.

Then whoever survives will inherit the world they create. :)

By definition, the warmongers will be the ones that survive.

Which is to say: take a look around yourself. We're already living in that world.

Is that what you see? I see the warmongerers come and go and the peacemakers make strides inspite of them.

Karma is a great equaliser/

@Captain Kremmen
I didn't call anyone a sissy...
Accepted.
I like your use of the @ symbol to direct comments to multiple individuals.
Succinct. I'll use it in future.

My instincts are socialist, but I can see that capitalism sometimes achieves socialist aims quicker than socialism does.
I am a big fan of the European Community, whose purpose is mainly easing trade.

You mean you like the EU? Please...don't. 1984 is not a place where we want to live in. If the Lisbon treaty gets implemented, say bye bye to the little countries, and bow down to Sarkozy-the-self-centered-and-impetuous-arse, and Adolf Merkel, and/or whoever else will be in charge of ruling the European federation; Totalitarian system. Whoops, did I really just say that.... aaaanyway..

Klaus became president with the idea of preventing that the Czech Republic would ever become subject to a totalitarian system again. I hope that he is stubborn enough, and will not cede to the pressure that the EU has been using to fasten up the ratification of this shitty socialistic, and environmentalistic trashy piece of paper.
The pro-Lisbon treaty people talk about how it will increase democracy, and equality, but those exact same people have a problem with the democratic approach of certain countries that have a rather sceptical opinion of the treaty. They threaten countries that are not willing to comply, but that's what people call democracy nowadays -- Seemingly those who are the most fervent supporters of EU, democracy, socialism, and what not, are the most intolerant towards anyone thinking otherwise. Succumb to the majority even if you know that the majority is flat out wrong. Nations such as Slovakia didn't even properly check out on what it would mean for them if the Lisbon treaty gets implemented. But now that the Czech Republic's head, and a few others have raised their doubts that the Beneš decrees could be overruled by the Lisbon treaty, Slovakia suddenly comments on the fact that if these doubts get confirmed, then Slovakia would like to receive an add to the Lisbon treaty where it would clearly state that those decrees can't be overruled at no point in time, too.
See...lets not wonder on how many other EU states blindly ratified the Lisbon treaty.

Bah...anyway, no, the EU is just a slightly more sugarcoated version of the communistic regime back in the days. We all know where that leads to; no freedom at all.

I can't help but feel slightly irritated at the thought that there are still people who are being supportive of such ideologies such as socialism, communism. They may contain decent elements, and certainly, a few elements are also applicable in our societies, but that's about it. As a whole, those ideologies over a longer period of time are not compatible with us. The only awesome thing about communism in Czech Republic was that you were in pension already in your 50s. Today, people want us to work even longer. The EU wants to increase the collective retirement age at 67. Imagine..that's just 3 years before reaching your 70s. Imagine a 67 year old construction worker...or imagine if you lose your job at 65, and will have to search for a job..today as an oldie you barely ever get a chance to get a job unless you really do have some special talent, or qualification for something, but in general they prefer younger people. Seriously..where is this leading to? Robotisation of humanity?

Whoops, slightly off-topic here. :D

It's not totally off topic.

What is happening in Switzerland is a result of allowing true democracy.
This stupid proposal about banning Minarets could become law if there enough people who want to vote for it.

But at least it is democratic.

In the UK, we have a system where we put our x down against a candidate once every 4 or 5 years. That candidate is barely different from the other credible candidates available.

Whoever you vote for, the system results in the country (UK) being run for the benefit of 10% of the people.

Well, WillNever..it shouldn't be too surprising as people in the 21st century tend to associate anything..literally anything with racism, and what not. The term has been abused left and right just as Hitler's name.

Even so..it amazes me to see the ignorance. In Switzerland the majority of the immigrants, refugees are from eastern European countries, and therefore they're anything but black, or differently coloured at all.
I am starting to feel bad about the fact that I'm white as it seems that you're racist just by being white. Well..great..Hitler's my dad.

Do people here actually think "black sheep" is a term for non-white people..? That term has been used since forever, to refer to someone of ANY color skin, who is viewed as unwelcome.
[/URL]

So why use the word black to refer to this generic wicked sheep?
Ditto ball, leg, mail, economy, guarding, list.

Ehm, ... what the Hell? Look up the etymology of black sheep. Do you know what the following means: The black sheep of the family - well...do you?

Does that mean that we're not allowed to use colours in a symbolic form any more...? Does that mean that I'm not allowed to use the word yellow, black, red, white, coffee..wait..what is the problem again?

Meaning

A worthless or disgraced member of a family.

Origin

The first record of 'black sheep' in a derogatory sense that I can find in print is from Charles Macklin's The man of the world, a comedy, 1786:

"O, ye villain! you - you - you are a black sheep; and I'll mark you."

It isn't entirely clear why black sheep were selected to symbolize worthlessness. Possibly it is just the linking of black things with bad things, which is a long standing allusion in English texts - black mood, black looks etc. It may also be because shepherds disliked black sheep as their fleeces weren't suitable for dying and so were worth less than those of white sheep.

http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/66250.html

The colour black, in symbolism, always had a bad meaning in Europe.. like..black cat, black crow, etc.

Because their wool was not dyeable

A black sheep stands out in a herd with white sheep. And since people used to associate the colour black with something negative it would mean something along the lines of: stands out in a negative sense.

So the reason black sheep are undesirable is because they cannot be "coloured".

Does anyone see the irony of this? "p
