im sorry james but im with norse on this (except for the hanging), this matter should be investigated by international authorities (as should the gazan war and the blockaid itself) and if breaches of human rights law are detected then the perpitratiors should be draged to the hauge and tried. I dont care WHAT the country is, if we only pick the weak to try then international law doesnt exist any more than domestical law would exist if the police picked and chose who they charged with murder based on anything other than the evidence

Would you drag to hauge Hamas officials?

Which one of those words means "Kill all the Jews"? And which one means "Jihad"?

Israel can release those tapes with 1000 copies signed by reporters they were untouched and your argument would still be the same from the same reason you decided against the evidence there is an international law breach here by Israel.

You have evidence and/or legal argument that there has been no breach of international law?

Great! Let's have it. Link please.

killing unarmed civilans is a breach of human rights laws

Note the word "special" in my previous post.

Not if you are an Israeli civilian. Then its justice.

Huh? You're not making yourself particularly clear.

if they have breached international law, however resisting an opressing army ISNT a breach of international law.

So firing on unarmed civilians ISNT a breach of international law.

What good is such a law in the first place then?

I wonder if James can give us your original post, just for the sake of argument.

I can give you the original post, I have better recall. ;)

The MV Rachel Corrie which was delayed by Israeli sabotage, is due to set out today for Gaza - with the backing of the Irish government

I feel sure that the MV Rachel Corrie is one of the two ships that mysteriously developed glitches

But I could be mistaken

Which one of those words means "Kill all the Jews"? And which one means "Jihad"?

"Haibar Haibr Ya yahud Jaish Muhammaded Ya saud"
- look it up.

It was a short video, but it shows you who are those peacefull activits are.

How do I know the people in that video were the ones on these boats?

I don't yet. What I have is what I said before. Prima facie it seems obvious there has been a breach of international law by Israel in boarding a ship in international waters and attacking the people on board.

Why are you trolling this thread? You do realise you're coming off as an arse here at the moment, don't you?

I mean I can't believe I'm actually trying to protect you here, but seriously, take a step back. Stop trolling.

Are you saying Israel wouldn't sabotage the ships?:p

Meanwhile, just popped into mondoweiss and read this:

My wife, who pays very little attention to these issues, said this morning, "I think we should all get on boats and go over there." She looks on Israel/Palestine as complicated, but this one’s easy. "People should keep going and going and going." Do you know about the underlying conditions? I tested her. "Gaza."

I have to believe that her human response to the besieged and humiliated people of Gaza is widely-shared today, around the world. And this is a challenge above all to American governance.

And felt really good. :)

By watching Al Jazeera.

Wait, so you dont have any evidence, but you want me to prove that is not case.

Usually things work the other way around, when you accuse someone you provide proof. you admit you have none.

Im not trolling you are missing the point. Perhaps you are not hat smart after all.

Do you criticize every single thing you ever see on tv with this comb? Translate the middle text if you want to know.

Israel didn't sign any agreements to defined what behaviors could take place on international waters, ergo they didn't violate international law. BUt if we're going to be scrutineers, can you point exactly to where this law is...how it applies, how you know Israel is held to it, and who enforces it?

I believe my hat is very smart, thank you very much.:)

I think it is you who is missing the point.

I get the distinct impression that you are trying to have this thread shut down. Are you?

Maybe you'd do better if you provided some context to your posts. It would save a lot of follow-up questions.

Wait, so you dont have any evidence, but you want me to prove that is not case.

I take it back. I don't have zero evidence. I have read in many places that the ships were in international waters. Hence my prima facie conclusion.

Now, what was your basis of saying this was legal, again?

Oh dear, this just gets better and better.

If that is the case, and if we are going to use your ridiculous argument, then one could say that those Turkish boats also did not break any laws and by your definition, should not have been stormed by Israeli troops at all.

At the end of the day, the laws of the sea include signed treaties and international laws, as well as customary laws. Now, Israel is either a part of the International communities which respects such laws or it remains on the outside and should be treated as outsiders and given no rights at all.. Which means that we can disregard its very existence. Now, which is it? Is Israel a part of the International community and thus, respect the laws of the International community? Or does Israel consider itself to be on the outside and thus, should be granted no rights or standing as a State?
