Why is gun control so difficult in the US?

Anyways a national gun registry, or registry of every gun in america would allow the ability to track and stop sales of guns to criminals and psychos. Just like with a car where I need to exchange a title that the state must be informed of, thus the state knows who owns what car, the same could be done with guns. If the problem is so many criminals and psycho get guns maybe we should track how.

'Oh shoot, that was stupid'
(maybe, I shouldn't think that choice of words is funny?)
(but, I do)
...................
If your only tool is a hammer. pretty soon, every problem begins to look like a nail.

You mean a "gun" in "place" of hammer and "stand your ground" in place of "nail".

And the Dems lose another election.
Because to their vast surprise, "Vote for me, so I can set up another bureaucracy like the Department of Motor Vehicles, only Federal and for everybody's guns - that will make your kids safe!" turned out to be somehow unappealing to the voters.

Who knew the voters were so irrational?

expound please
Everyone in Canada is entitled to receive basic medical insurance. If you cannot afford it, the government will step in and a provide assistance. The vast majority of Canadians pay a monthly premium, mine is about 100 per month for my family. That is just basic medical care, doctors visits, hospital, etc. You can buy additional insurance which covers say accidents, short term disability, that sort of thing. I hope that answers your question.

I'm speaking hypothetically buddy, or more so to do only after winning and not to make a campiagn around. That and we would need to get universal background checks passed first, you know steps.

Who knew the voters were so irrational?

Just setting the bar. "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" has come up once or twice, that would be a good start.
Yep. And by extension, you can use force (up to and including killing someone else) to protect your own life. That's an extension of the right to life. But you can't go around murdering innocent people, so we have laws against that - because other people have that right to life as well.

(BTW the original list of "natural rights" from John Locke listed them as "life, liberty and property" - the last of which was the right to own private property.)

Could be for poor people.
Yes. Basic medical care is free for people under a threshold income. Then depending on your income, you pay a scale premium. My point is that the majority of Canadians, although we have universal care, pay some sort of premium.

I don't believe there are any irrevocable rights, but I do think society should try its best to allow people to enjoy the basics, like not being killed in their own living room. It follows from that that given the 34/1 ratio of innocents killed by guns vs. "bad guys" killed by guns a limitation on guns would be in the interest of the peoples' rights.

Reading Liberals’ and Democrats’ comments about guns is like reading exercise and dieting tips from Michael Moore.

Senseless aspersions are worth more? I've been an owner and shooter since 1965. I did twenty years in the USN, and fired a shit load of lead down range during that time. I currently own a fully-functional Browning M2 .50 cal. heavy machine gun, properly licensed.

So? I have a M167 Vulcan. Buying shells sucks.

Canada isn’t even National Health Care. It’s not Single Payer. It sucks. Ask a Canadian. They are dying in droves waiting for a MRI.
