What matters most for abandoning creationism: facts, or religious interpretation?

I'll bet he didn't :) When I see Mazulu's posted pictures I rarely laugh. I don't cringe either. I generally just think that there's a disturbed person behind it. I could be wrong however but I don't generally see a "prankster" behind them. If that was the case he wouldn't have been banned so often I wouldn't think.

When I see the more recent pictures I can't help but think about the pictures and comments that got him banned in the past.

You see them differently?

It doesn't matter how I see it. Think as you wish.

I will :) It mattered enough to me to ask the question :) It's your right of course to sometimes be very reluctant to express your views and at other times to be very open :) I can never guess which it will be on a particular day :)

Fine. I don't like that you inferred that Mazulu is "disturbed." It is mean to say that. And I don't, won't, and will never want to understand why people feel the need to be mean, when trying to convey a point.

That's why I said "think as you wish," because how you see things isn't how I see things. Humility is lost on some of you. :(

When someone posts "hateful" messages and pictures and gets thrown off for it and then starts to post similar pictures again I don't think it's being "mean" or lacking "humility" to comment on it.

Lacking humility would be to not think that others have a right to believe as they wish. I've never been one to imply that anyone who is religious is stupid. I have implied that some aspects of religion involve some delusion (in my opinion).

I don't think everyone (who is happy there) should stop going to church. Most people who have an opinion on this subject are more concerned with the way it impacts public policy and not with anyone's personal beliefs.

I think it's wrong to confuse humility with calling someone on their bad behavior. If you post telling others to "go to hell" and "fu" etc. what has humility got to do with that?

I agree with most everything you have posted but, I'm not "confused" with regards to my definition of humility.
If you can't accept my viewpoint, don't worry about it.

I guess my point is that religion is healing for a lot of people, for the faithful. They have a right to spend their money and their time in this way, in a positive way. I also want to stick up for people of faith who get disparaged by very negative people, like Q. I have Q on my ignore list because I am tired of reading his negativity.

Drop the act, wegs. Mazulu acts like a very disturbed child. He's earned any of the criticism he receives here.

Disturbed by the constant rancor around here. Some of you people here are very mean spirited. You should be nice, like wegs. You should be smart like spidergoat & seattle.

interpreting the dog's activity as "faithfulness", and "kindness", is faith in the unknown, based on what exactly? Why not interpret it as purely biological response to a pack leader providing food? Why not call it healthy fear of a more powerful pack member, instead of kindness? I find that an arbitrary choice, made by pet lovers, influenced by culture, perfectly non-universal, personal, and unproven... i.e. faith.

edit - faith that he will behave as previously is not faith, it is just inference. Faith that the dog is "kind" is faith.

Someone once said that most people are too dumb to despair.

I don't disagree that Mazulu's behavior at times on here has been erratic, and I've had exchanges with him, as well...explaining how he can come across in a crass way. But, I don't believe in the need to convey a point in a mean spirited way. That's more of my point. Maybe some see it as 'just telling it like it is.' A matter of opinion, I guess.

Right, so you'll take issue with us when we do something you perceive to be mean-spirited, but you giggle like a school girl when he's doing the same to us. Makes sense.

You two deserve each other.

You see things in a very skewed way, at times. Yesterday, I told him he was crass and that I was offended by his comment to me--without the need to name call him. (which is my point) You see what you want to see sometimes, Balerion. I just approach people differently than you do.

Oh, so it's okay when you're "telling it like it is," you just have a problem when other people do it. Gotcha.

Deleted comment. This is why I replied to Seattle with "it doesn't matter how I see it."
Because ultimately, it doesn't. (to others)

Then don't presume to tell others how to go about their business. Especially when it comes to dealing with a useless troll.

i don't understand what is meant by this exactly. I mean i understand what you are saying, but am not sure how that particular idea refers to my comment on the various types of philosophical faiths.

Many people have faith - so they don't despair, even if it is faith in the most silly things, or the most far-fetched basis for it.
I guess that's why so many people dislike philosophy, especially serious philosophy: it could pull the rug from under their feet.
