Yeah not much difference between you (voted for Bush, twice!) and those who follow Ahmedinejad then.

Except he won't get elected twice.

Was the grenade one of those supplied by the US to the Sunni extremists?

Not as bad as a nut who has nuclear weapons.

I agree his popularity is very low, but does it really matter who the president of Iran is? Ali Khamenei is the one who's making all the decisions and wields all the power. Mahmoud is only a face making the announcements for others.

Nothings more dangerous than an moron in power.

Sensibly, I assume you're referring to Ali (as he has the most power). What in particular do you not like about him (enough so to call him a moron)? Don't take my question as condescending, as I'm not his (or his system's) greatest fan either. Are your discrepancies with him more along the lines of domestic or foreign?

Don't know anything about Ali, I was referring to Ahhmedinejad.

Regardless of his actual level of power, he is the face of Iran and his inflammatory comments do nothing to serve Iran's interests

(not that I believe he can do much good while Bush is in power)

I think his "inflammatory comments" were either altered or flat-out misconstrued ("wipe Israel off the map", for instance). Iranians don't care about his comments against the US and such, but more so about how his policies at home are failing. I take it you don't like his "big talk" attitude.

Ali is pretty cool, IMO (a little too far on the conservative side, as you'd have guessed).

I don't think he can do much good with any of the candidates running for president (barring Ron Paul, of course).

thats a big bloody hole on that side of that ship
poor buggers proly nmindfeing there own busines doing there everyday work
then bang crikey
why are those dam iranians so mean to people

I guess they haven't gotten over having their democratically elected leader toppled in favor of a US puppet who tortured them for 25 years and an eight year war that gave power to the fundies.
Having battleships shoot down civilian planes can also make people allergic to them.

Whats to stop Americans from staging an explosion?

Making up stories?

Faking videos?

Cui bono?
Risk and lack of necessity.

The small boat swarm attack is one of Iran's possible, genuinely dangerous, tactical options. But an attack sufficient to draw war would have to be more than this, and much harder to fake.

It's more likely that the Navy just wants it on record that they can shoot these things, if they want to.

Use of the incident by W&Co would be just a bonus, then.

If they did fake it, though, they wouldn't use Navy personnel and such in the boats. So where would a source of fakers be, in the area? Pirates willing to do something like that for money ?

I liked your reference from BushWatch.com Buffalo, "Christian theologians are wary when Bush uses the words"! I think we all get nervous when Bush II starts using words...never know what is going to come out. Apparently he doesn't either. One of my favorite Bush quotes, "Did I just say that? Why did I say that?"
