Trump was a well-known hotel and real estate developer prior to become the POTUS; not sure what he’s doing now, though.

Would you rather own a modest house with an incredible view (whatever that may mean to you - it’s entirely subjective) or… would you rather own an expensive home with all the latest appliances and technology, but the view from all rooms overlooks a garbage dump? (This is hypothetical; I have no idea how you ended up there.)

I’d take the modest house, if I could wake up overlooking a field of sunflowers and distant mountains.

That was our choice as well. We're on a promontory on a canyon, so we have a view from three sides.
That sounds like a dream. My backyard has a small lake and a conservation area so it’s quite serene, especially in the mornings.

Amazing view > everything else

I'd take the expensive house, sell it and move into an apartment with pictures of sunflowers on the walls. (I don't like mountains.)

Full disclosure: In real life, my apartment overlooks the back of a pizzeria.

I suppose that’s one way to do it.

Is the pizza good?

There is a certain charm to apartments in the middle of food districts in big cities. I’d choose mountains, flowers and the occasional bear over that, but I have friends who live in NYC and they live near the “meat district,” which is kind of cool.

In the 70's that would have been Times Square.:)

Really? Huh. You seem to know everything, Seattle.
The "meat market" had a different meaning in that area in the 70's. Times Square was where the "peep shows" and prostitution was located and termed "the meat market".

It's one of the best in town.

It isn't exactly the food district (or a big city). It's a residential area but right next to the main drag. There's a grocery store right across the street and a library two blocka away, so I don't have to go very far for everything I need. Of course, the main drag also provides a lot of sirens and loud mufflers and the train tracks are also close.

So, I have an phone app that has “ASMR” sounds and one of them is titled “busy city streets.” It’s interesting what types of sounds relax people. It’s not bad, it’s just not relaxing to me.

This app also has a choice for “jet cabin,” which is one of my favorites. The gentle humming, consistent undertone of conversations, and muffled sounds that you’d typically hear on a plane…is quite calming.

Do certain everyday sounds relax you? Whirring buzz of a ceiling fan? Washing machine? Rain slapping against your window at night? Thunder in the distance? Ocean waves crashing against the shoreline?

Fireworks? Actually, I have a friend who finds fireworks to be …soothing.
