So where female Muslims go in the afterlife?

Best answer comes from The Straight Dope, as usual:

"The difficulty in determining what the Koran has to say about virgins and such is establishing what the Koran says, period. Translators vary widely in their rendering of the spare and often opaque text. For example, we find the following passage in a Web-based version of Islam's holy book (www.unn.ac.uk/societies/islamic/index.htm): "Verily, for the Muttaqun [righteous], there will be a success (paradise); gardens and grapeyards; and young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age; and a full cup (of wine)" (An-Naba 78:31-34). Whoa, one thinks--the Kingdom of Heaven meets the Playboy Advisor! However, most other English translations, both on-line and in print, replace "full-breasted maidens" with some tame construction such as "companions." Inquiring further, we find that the Arabic word at issue is WakawaAAiba, which appears nowhere else in the Koran. The French, less prudish in these matters, usually render it as something like des belles aux seins arrondis, "beautiful women with round breasts," so I think it's pretty clear what the Prophet, or at least his stenographers, had in mind.

Nothing in the Koran specifically states that the faithful are allotted 72 virgins apiece. For this elaboration we turn to the hadith, traditional sayings traced with varying degrees of credibility to Muhammad. Hadith number 2,562 in the collection known as the Sunan al-Tirmidhi says, "The least [reward] for the people of Heaven is 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome of pearls, aquamarine and ruby." "

This life is an abode for trials and test.Allah creates us to worship him in this life to gain both wordly and eternal bliss. This life is short .It is the prison of the believer and the paradise of the disbeliever.Walking into paradise is not an easy task.it is full of obstacles and deterrent that stand between u and it.To start with After Satan was rejected from heaven to earth , he swore to take revenge on man and strove to lead him astray by making his actions or act fairseeming. He uses all his power to deprive man of the promised bliss and reward that no eye has seen and no ear has heard. To be granted this honor one has to strive to supress his unlawful desire and follow God teachings. Moreover, he should establish a good relationship with man , preserve his or her envirnmont and take care of any weak creature.I remember a prophet s saying that a whore of children of israel enter paradie because she quenches the thirst of dog while a muslim woman enters fire because she enprison a cat.Neither did she let her eat or let it go.Allah does not forgive who denies him or asocioate a parnter with him. Moreover , he forbids unjustice. If a muslim wrongs non muslim or a muslim in the day of resurection he will give his deeds in accordance with the degree of the harm he causes to the other.
Each day gets us close to our tomb. One has to benefit from his time in doing good deeds. For example, one should ask what i have done to day.HAVE I GIVEN CHARITY TO POOR.Have i helkped people or at least refrain my tongue from backbiting them.HAVE I DONE MY WORK WELL.Have i not harmed any one.
Paradise starts from this life.Inner peace results from obedience. Each deed one does brings him comfort and tranquility. Moreover, ALLAh reward him incessantly.but one should ask acceptance from God and not be proud of his or her deeds.

I Have Waken Up Since I Knew God The Beneficent The Merciful Who Give Incesantly No Matter How We Disobey Him.

IMAME ALI , The Prophet succesor says
Certainly, this world is a house of truth for those who look into it carefully, an abode of peace and rest for those who understand its ways and moods and it is the best working ground for those who want to procure rewards for life in the Hereafter. It is a place of acquiring knowledge and wisdom for those who want to acquire them, a place of worship for the friends of Allah and for Angels. It is the place where prophets received revelations of Allah. It is the place for virtuous people and saints to do good deeds and to be assigned with rewards for the same. Only in this world they could trade with Allah's Favors and Blessings and only while living here they could barter their good deeds with His Blessings and Rewards. Where else could all this be done? Who are you to abuse the world when it has openly declared its mortality and mortality of everything connected with it, when it has given everyone of its inha- bitants to understand that all of them are to face death, when through its ways it has given them all an idea of calamities they have to face here, and through the sight of its temporary and fading pleasures it has given them glimpses of eternal pleasures of Paradise and suggested them to wish and work for the same. If you study it properly you will find that simply to warn and frighten you of the consequences of evil deeds and to persuade you towards good actions, every night it raises new hopes of peace and prosperity in you and every morning it places new anxieties and new worries before you. Those who passed such lives are ashamed of and repent the time so passed abuse this world. But there are people who will praise this world on the Day of Judgment that it reminded them of the Hereafter and they took advantage of these reminders. It informed them of the effects of good deeds and they made correct use of the information it advised them and they were benefited by its advice".

131. An Angel announces daily: "Birth of more human beings means so many more will die, collection of more wealth means of much more will be destroyed, erection of more buildings means so many more ruins will come".

132. This world is not a permanent place, it is a passage, a road on which you are passing. There are two kinds of people here: One is the kind of those who have sold their souls for eternal damnation, the other is of those who have purchased their souls and freed them from damnation.

...
In this world, man is a target of death, an easy prey to calamities, here every morsel and every draught is liable to choke one, here one never receives a favour until he loses another instead, here every additional day in one's life is a day reduced from the total span of his existence, when death is the natural outcome of life, how can we expect immortality?

190. O son of Adam, if you have collected anything in excess of your actual need, you will act only as its trustee for someone else to use it.

191. Hearts have the tendency of likes and dislikes and are liable to be energetic and lethargic, therefore, make them work when they are energetic because if hearts are forced (to do a thing) they will be blinded.

192. When I feel angry with a person how and when should I satisfy my anger, whether at a time when I am not in a position to retaliate and people may advise me to bear patiently or when I have power to punish and I forgive. 193. Minds get tired like bodies. When you feel that your; mind is tired, then invigorate it with sober advice.

194. If you find that somebody is not grateful for all that you have done for him, then do not get disappointed because often you will find that someone else feels under your obligation though you have done nothing for him and thus your good deeds will be compensated, and Allah will reward you for your goodness.

195. The first fruit of forbearance is that people will sympathize with you and they will go against the man who offended you arrogantly.

196. One who takes account of his shortcomings will always gain by it; one who is unmindful of them will always suffer. One who is afraid of the Day of Judgment, is safe from the Wrath of Allah. One who takes lessons from the events of life, gets vision, one who acquires vision becomes wise and one who attains wisdom achieves knowledge.

much the same as every other religion,

IF life is too bad at least you can hope that afterlife will be bliss, huh? ;)

now IF instead of praying you actualy DID something productive and improved your lifes, there would be no need for religious fantasy, dont you think?

and IF everyone realized the reality which is:this ONE life is all you have they wouldnt be so anxious to die in any Jihad!

i hope that i speak good English

No, and please stop infesting this thread with your bullshit. That's what I specially asked for in the first post. This thread is not about bitching about religion per see, but the treatment of female Muslims in the afterlife.

If any of the posters can't understand this, they can get the fuck out of my thread. That is also valid for atheists...

Now, can we go back to the topic???

Thanks.

Interestingly a certain member who is probably the only "authority" on this question is too busy posting on atheist instead of explaining her faith to us....

So, you will not allow that atheists may have read the Koran and have something to contribute ?

Apart from hedonistic allegories, heaven is a place and state of happiness, hell is a place and condition of humiliation and loss.

Every person will behave according to that for which he was created, and his
destiny will be that for which he was created; good deeds and evil deeds are
foreordained for all men".

Am I reading that right? Allah creates people with the sole purpose of going to hell?

You realise none of the above is based on the Quran, right?

No 72 virgins or seven layers of hell or al Araf.

:)

Apart from hedonistic allegories, heaven is a place and state of happiness, hell is a place and condition of humiliation and loss.

According to at-Tahhaawwi in his book on al-'Aqeedah al-Salafiyyah (correct belief in
accordance with that of the early generations of Islaam) that is known as
al-'Aqeedah al-Tahhaawiyyah.

"Paradise and Hell have already been created. They will never come to an end
or cease to exist. Allaah (swt) created Paradise and Hell before the rest of
creation, and He (swt) created inhabitants for each of them. Whoever He
(swt) wishes (will enter) Paradise by His grace and mercy, and whoever He
(swt) wishes (will enter Hell) as a result of His (swt) justice. Every
person will behave according to that for which he was created, and his
destiny will be that for which he was created; good deeds and evil deeds are
foreordained for all men".

In other words, we are living it.

I can't believe what I am reading. If I understand you , Allah is a puppet master who plans what his puppets will do before they are created,. Then, having done his will, some will go to paradise, others not.

Where is the mercy and justice we keep hearing about ? Creating people for hell, if that is what is believed, makes him an evil sadist not worthy of cleaning the shoes of a decent human being. Talk about the Holocaust !

But it must be true because some self-appointed scholar says so. Allah clearly does not believe that people should think for themselves, yet he gave them reason. How twisted he must be.

I welcome your post to describe how YOU imagine your afterlife and don't quote anything, just say what you believe. Or say what you were taught....

What I was taught is that nothing you know or do not know about death should have anything to do with how you live your life.

What I believe is that everything in the universe is connected in ways we do not understand and I believe its all cyclical. So my idea of an afterlife is that what we do in life has consequences and we bear the responsibility for those consquences. As to what the consequences are and what that responsibility means, its all an unknown matter.

In this I believe what Ghalib says about love can be applied equally applied to life

Yeh ishq nahin asaan bas intna samajh lijiye
ek aag ka dariya hai aur doob ke jaana hai

This love life is not easy, all we can comprehend
Its a sea of fire that is crossed by drowning (in it)

Let me put it this way. What you are is the sum of your genes and environment. Given a certain genetic makeup and put in a certain environment, one can predict your behaviour within a certain range. In fact, if I were to reach a point of knowledge where I knew all about your genes and all about your environment and the interaction between the two, I could probably tell you how you are going to behave in a certain situation. So, does this mean you are or you are not thinking for yourself? ;)

OK, now at least we are moving forward a bit...

What I was taught is that nothing you know or do not know about death should have anything to do with how you live your life.

I have to disagree here. After all since afterlife is for eternity, and you will be judged by your actions for that few decades you lived, it is rather important what I get as reward and punishment, so I know if it is worthy to try...

So my idea of an afterlife is that what we do in life has consequences and we bear the responsibility for those consquences. As to what the consequences are and what that responsibility means, its all an unknown matter.

Using an analogy it is like knowing that stealing is bad, but not knowing if I get a "don't do that again" scolding or chopping off of my hand for doing it. There is a slight difference. So I would say it is rather important to know what will be going on with me for ETERNITY as a result of my life....

But I have to say, acknowledging that you don't know is still better than trying to interpret a few lines from some sacred books or quotations from authorities...

Depends on how you define life, then.

So you would steal if there were no hand chopping?
