Osama Bin Laden is Dead

This isn't gloating. Besides, SAM never defended OBL's actions, she just doubted those of the US even more. I highly doubt she'd like to be in his company or supported anything he did.

That said, we're expressing our joy at the passing of one of history's great villains.

It's good to be alive.

If I remember correctly I don't think she believes Bin Laden had anything to do with 9/11. In which case the US just killed an innocent person to cover up their evil conspiracy against muslim nations.

I wonder how long it will take before the net is rife with doubts about whether Bin Laden is after all dead.

I don't understand how people can be so happy for the death of someone. Whether hitler, OBL, ..

So is the war(s) over? That would be something to be happy about.

No, the war is FAR from over! The big question right now is will this result in retaliation or will it serve to demoralize his network? Regardless of which, it's still a major accomplishment and all those involved deserve our gratitude and thanks.

As I said, though, the war is far from over. As in any organization, the #2, #3, etc. men will move up a notch - we'll just have to wait to see how effective they are. But meanwhile, cutting the head off the snake is *always* a good thing to have done.

Finally the US finds a winning move...killing scheming *ss*oles, hiding in mansions.
Keep up the good work!

It would have been much better public relations if the US had been able to capture bin Laden and put him to a public trial. Then, life imprisonment, perhaps. (The death penalty is barbaric.)

In Obama's address he said that bin Laden was killed "after a fire fight". I hope he meant "during a fire fight". I'd hate to think that the military might have captured him, then executed him without a fair trial. Of course, the US military would never do such a thing, I'm sure.

So is the war(s) over? That would be something to be happy about.

The thing about a war on terror is that it can never end.

And when are we going to see the other war criminals hang? Bush et al

Please list some of Bush's war crimes.

So he was ONLY shot and killed in a firefight. How sad. It would have been so much better had he been tortured. Really, his death is pretty meaningless without real revenge.

I'm not particularly happy he was killed, I wish he'd have been taken alive... not to be tortured but to stand trial. It's give him a chance to say his peace and for the world to seriously deal with what motives people like him. Some of which is the USA and our reliance on oil in the ME and some of which is plain old religious bigotry, such as not wanting "Infidels" in KSA.

I'm sure the special forces had to make some pretty quick decisions over how to deal with this situation and I'm sure it's better he was killed than escaped - as then more people would have died.

Another HUGE embarrassment for Pakistan. That said, I am in no way surprised many people in Pakistan were supporting Bin Laden. I can't wait to pull out of that region 110% leave. They don't like "Infidels" on their land - good, let them make due with zero aid and support from the West. Back onto China's teet they can go - good riddance.

On a side note, I wonder who the owner of the mansion was? Which religious group was he connected to? And I wonder who gets the 25 million?

Did anyone see a body? Like with a DNA sample and dental records? Has the FBI or CIA actually convened a grand jury yet any connection to 9/11? Or still nothing on that huh? I am hearing shit like, "justice has been served," but justice for what?

Declerations of war are illegal under international law, the invasion of Iraq was not santioned by the UN security council and was therefore illegal and every death to come out of that is a count of capital murder. Torture is illegal under US law, the Geneva convention AND the international declecloration against torture and the decloration on civil and political rights. I belive that under US law anyone who dies as a result of torture it becomes first decree murder with special cirumstances.

Those alone are enough for the death penelty

According to someone on the BBC internet radio feed, his bodyguards had orders to kill him if it looked like he was about to be captured.

My concern now is retaliation and martyrdom. Do we know how important he was for operations? Could this just escalate into a part two?

Granted, he had to go, one way or another, but this is far from over. I just wonder if we're heading downhill now, or still on that plateau.

He did what Bush couldn't, lols.

Doesn't matter, the Republicans have moved the goal-post again. Now they're saying Obama doesn't deserve the credit just because he's the President. However, the same faux news crowd continues to blame Bill Clinton for 911.

Actually, people who know better, already knew he was dead.

And that is part of the problem. We, the US, turn our wimpish cheeks on these terrorists and only imprison them, while they have captured US and European citizens, tortured them, and then televised the beheading. The so called torture that was exposed in Guantanamo Bay against captured terrorists was a laugh. They really called that torture??? Hopefully, we do horrific torture behind the scenes to these things. That is the least they deserve.

Within minutes of Obama's speech you have hundreds and now thousands on the streets in front of the White House? I mean where the hell are they coming from?

The Esotericist:

US forces have the body, and DNA samples.

Has the FBI or CIA actually convened a grand jury yet any connection to 9/11?

Are you saying you doubt that bin Laden was connected with 9/11? Seriously? Do you also doubt Obama's birth certificate?

Asguard:

Declerations of war are illegal under international law...

No they aren't.

...the invasion of Iraq was not santioned by the UN security council and was therefore illegal and every death to come out of that is a count of capital murder.

No. Wars are recognised on a de facto basis under international law. The lack of Security Council sanction does not mean that all soldiers involved are murderers.

Torture is illegal under US law, the Geneva convention AND the international declecloration against torture and the decloration on civil and political rights. I belive that under US law anyone who dies as a result of torture it becomes first decree murder with special cirumstances.

Who died under torture by GW Bush?

Those alone are enough for the death penelty

The death penalty is barbaric. Leaving that aside, though, I think you'd have a hard time bringing any kind of indictment against GW Bush for war crimes or torture. What do you suggest? The International Criminal Court (not that the US is a signatory to that)? What charges do you recommend?

I'd kind of like a view from GoogleEarth of the compound if someone has the coordinates.

Actually, people who know better, already knew he was dead.

Which people? When did he die, and how?

The so called torture that was exposed in Guantanamo Bay against captured terrorists was a laugh. They really called that torture???

What do you call it? Have you tried waterboarding yourself? If not, get a friend to do it to you. Then tell me it's not torture.

Here's another one you can try yourself: lock yourself in your bedroom and see nobody and read nothing and don't watch TV for a month. That's called extended solitary confinement. When you're done - if you last the distance - tell me how that isn't torture. Remember: no entertainment allowed.

Hopefully, we do horrific torture behind the scenes to these things. That is the least they deserve.

Congratulations. You just sank to the same level as them.

Ah yes, how predictable. Watch the ironic precession of Americans displaying the exact same obsessive hatred and vitriol that they ascribe to the objects of their hatred. Wishing for torture and slow death. Gloating. Itching to see images of a bullet-ridden corpse, I’ll bet. The soldiers involved held up as national heroes.

This thread will be an interesting insight into the American psyche.

You can bet there is a new guy barking orders right now . A contingency plan going into effect as we speak. Might be thwarted , maybe not . His death may even trigger sleeper cells to do stuff . I think the Alert system should be taken up a notch . The best time to speed is when you see a cop has someone pulled over while there is heavy traffic . If he is pulling out into traffic in your lane . Not a good Idea to be speeding . If I was the enemy I would strike while we are all gloating.
