Muslim Woman Jailed Over Head Scarf

Where do you get off making such a general and stupid statement like that?

Based on what I have seen, heard and read from Americans over the past few years. I have seen Americans switch from love to hate in seconds. They appear all lovey-dovey with everyone because they are 1 part French, 1 part Scottish, 1 part Polish blah blah blah but the moment anyone in Europe or elsewhere criticises their country, their food, women, way of life, blind patriotism they foam at the mouth and say how they should have stayed out of WW2 and the other usual bullshit. Rotfl.

Anyway, Americans have a history of hating others (e.g. Blacks, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Native Americans, Mexicans) even within their own country.

So you are telling us how biased Americans are by being biased?

The only reason why you know these things is because it is all that is really in the news is about U.S and what happens there. Which is unfortunate and creepy.

Americans are from all over the planet and from every country.

In my town, there was an organized attempt by local Islamic representatives, the political leaders of the local Islamic community, to establish rules for the cabs at the airport allowing Muslim cabbies to refuse all dogs and any visible alcohol or passengers who have been drinking, without losing the coveted place in line.

I find that hard to believe. Refuse all dogs? Even guide-dogs? Muslim cabbies in England have (as far as I know) never made any sort of request. Regarding alcohol, Muslim cabbies here make a lot of their money from people coming from pubs and clubs on Friday and Saturday nights stinking of booze.

Hard to believe, could you please provide a source, or maybe scan a copy of that newspaper article so I can have a quick look. I don’t think I am getting the whole story.

They may feel that foot washing should be done in ones own home. I never seen someone washing there feet in public, what is the puropse of that?

Who may feel foot washing should be done at home? what if people want to wash their feet outside? whats the problem?

Feet can become sweaty and therefore smelly, esp. in the summer, whats wrong with washing them. Muslims have to wash the feet before daily prayers, it is compulsary - washing your feet in a standard basin can be difficult. But having basins open to everyone is a good thing.

ah, i see. living in U.S for 30 years i have never seen any problems with Muslims that can be attributed solely to their religion and there is good and bad in all.

why should he?
did you provide sources for your statement that americans hate everybody? other than your perceived notions that is.

Here's a Muslim reaction at the time, from other Muslims:

Yeah.

That's such an accurate description. It's obvious you're basing these astounding insights on some bang-up scholarship and loads of anecdotal experience.

Why not, for shits and giggles, talk about how "violent" America is? Or how "shallow" and "materialistic"? That would be about as original -- and about as accurate. . .

Europeans are much better, what with the Germans hating the French who hate the Poles who hate the Russians who hate the Turks who hate the Greeks who hate the Bulgarians, and so on and so forth . . .

Do we even need to talk about the Middle East?

I mean, are you getting the picture? When you generalize, not too many people in the world "like" each other.

Anyway, Americans have a history of hating others (e.g. Blacks, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Native Americans, Mexicans) even within their own country.

You mean like in Britian, where you've got four peoples who don't get along -- English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish?

Seriously. America is no more or less racist than any other place on the globe -- and the significant difference between it and other nations is that it is a melting pot that eventually accepts all people who prove their worth. Can't say that about Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Seems like you've got a lot of pent up frustration in your system.

What is your issue with the veil? What is your problem?

It's another excuse for Muslims to demand double standards and demonstrate their hypocrisy.

She swore after someone told her to remove her veil, lock that damned criminal up!

Pathetic.

She swore at the judge in court. Do you have absolutely no concept or clue? Are you so indoctrinated into your religion that nothing else matters?

Muslims have a history of hating everyone non-Muslim, what's your point?

To me one of the fundamental aspects of American culture is that we are a secular nation. We leave our religion in our house or at the church. This allows us to have an open public allowing each person to practice their own faith without pissing off other people. It's a fundamental aspect of American culture.

Muslims don't seem to appreciate this aspect of our culture. Maybe they don't even get it. IF our society were to become overtly religious, theirs would be the first religion banned. That's the irony of the thing. I personally think this f&cked up religion is why mostly Muslim nations are so screwed up. I hope it doesn't start screwing up the USA.

America has never had religious wars. That doesn't mean it can't easily happen. Especially if we have a serious economic downturn.

We leave our religion in our house or at the church.
we also believe that a person has a right to worship any god they choose.
as a matter of fact it's illegal for any US institution to even ask what religion you practice or to discriminate based on religion.

do you really believe that someone should be loved unconditionally or that someone has absolutely no redeeming qualities?

i think when you go to a new country you should expect to adapt to their rules. seems logical and the right thing to do.

George Bush:

"I've heard the call. I believe God wants me to run for president."—September, 2000

Michael, what you have said is horseshit. We know that the religious fundamentalists have a lot of sway in America, Jew fanatics were instrumental in laying the groundwork for the invasion of Iraq, the Christian right have been very vocal in their condemnation of Islam as a religion of evil and also very vocal in their support of the US’ war of terror.

"The enemy has got a face. He's called Satan. He lives in Falluja. And we're going to destroy him" Lt Col Gareth Brandl

America screwed up America. America is in the toilet - because of America. Economy sliding, obesity through the roof, violent crimes, unjust wars, the deaths of many millions of innocent people. America’s fault.

America has never had religious wars. That doesn't mean it can't easily happen. Especially if we have a serious economic downturn.

If America has a serious economic downturn, America will declare war on itself, Americans will kill and rape eachother - imagine New Orleans x 10000000.

Okay.

From link:

The dispute between Minnesota’s Metropolitan Airports Commission and Somali Muslim cab drivers continues. The drivers say they want to carry passengers, but don’t want to transport the alcohol that many bring with them from the duty-free shops.

Somali cab drivers? why does this dispute only involve Somalians? Why not Muslims of other nationalities? Arabs? Asians?

Muslim cabbies, many of them Somali, said their faith prohibits them from carrying passengers with alcoholic beverages. Some drivers also say they cannot take dogs because they believe Islam considers them unclean…

Has the same thing happened throughout the US or just in this area? Yes/No? Why?

Every one of the issues mentioned by Fraggle, et al, is simply an event. An event among thousands.

Rotfl. Thousands? yeh right, you'd struggle to think of 10 events.
