Let's all have a big fight over my mortal soul.

The passage you quoted also addresses how we fail to register new information in the first place, if it we can't frame it in a recognisable way. Plenty of psychological research to support this. When we're expecting certain data the unexpected often passes unnoticed.

Yeah, ever eat while watching TV?

<offtopic>You should read Thinking In Pictures by Temple Grandin. Awesome book</offtopic>

Yes, you would have us all turn into colorless, opinionless, monochromes.

Your version of reality will be the death of all color and variety and thought in the world.

You see, you have absolutely no argument whatsoever. Nada. Ziltch. Squat.

So, nature is devoid of color, variety and thought?

Are your opinions of any value when you claim gods and angels are not only part of reality, but have created it?

Reality is what it is, you simply don't like it and want it to be full of ghosts and goblins to justify your dissatisfaction of it.

You mean everyone should think like you, since that is the only right way.

You mean you can verify that all people have an equivalent ability? No diversity of opinion?

/don't call me names, I'm still pissed.

I could care less if you're pissed. You call people names all the time. Can dish it out but you can't take it?

So, you wish to opine on the color of a red apple? Please do.

No that's not it. That's mere distraction. I'm talking about compartmentalisation. People expect certain information to appear only in certain contexts. When new information appears in an unexpected context the brain will often reject the sensory input as anomalous.

i suppose your argument is that different religions come from people's incapacity to process facts... ok

Sorry, I compartmentalised your post because I was eating. :p

Isn't that what we term as bias?

Apparently, according to your cult, we are DEMANDED to think like you. We are DEMANDED to think that it is fact the moon was split in half. We are DEMANDED to worship an invisible, indemonstrable being. We are DEMANDED to treat our equals as inferior beings.

In fact, the DEMANDS of your cult are explicit. I make no such demands.

That is entirely different from your original claim.
My claim was that our imperfect senses mean that different people will often perceive the same information in different ways. It's a commonplace, and in no way controversial.
Welcome to the incomprehensible world of the theist.
Not quite. I know what I believe and don't believe. I just don't equate belief with proof.

I think different religions come because at different times, people had different ideas about what God means. Theism has always been an innate part of people, they have just expressed it differently. Ultimately the difference between theists and atheists is very simple. All theists believe that there is a reason for the way the universe, the world and everything in it is the way it is. All atheists don't. The differences in the ideas of God can be related to how much intellectual development and understanding there is of the world.

Yeah, its asinine to address the fact that it is well known that all people do not think the same way.

You confuse thinking with believing. They are not the same, however you've never been able to make that distinction.

Thats merely your opinion.

Please use my examples to explain your position. So far, you have not.

Not quite. I know what I believe and don't believe. I just don't equate belief with proof.[/QUOTE]

Theists equate belief with thinking. Their opinions are based on beliefs, not on the corporeal.

No, it is a fact. Please present your arguments, otherwise shut the fuck up.

Are you sure you're processing the same information I am? Perhaps you need to re-read the posts and eliminate your bias.

The inability to process information does not preclude the information process.
