I don't doubt that for some Zionists, that was their plan, but most of them just wanted a place to be safe among their people. The ones that had been living there some time probably didn't want anything to change. Many Arabs were even supportive of the idea of a Jewish homeland. The real situation was much more complex than many people make it out to be.

Can you see the problem here? There were, and there are, Palestinians in Palestine. The vast majority of them were forcibly displaced to make way for the Jewish state.

The difference in this case was that the Palestinians were in the majority.
The most recent bout of the above (ethnic cleansing) was the slaughter of 1300 Palestinians. Half of which were woman and children.
Community doesn't imply an exclusive geographical zone. The vast majority of Palestinians were left alone, the Jewish state was only a threat to them in the sense that surrounding Arab nations seemed intent on it's total destruction. They thought they would be able to move back when the ethnic cleansing was done, but thankfully things didn't turn out that way.
The attacks on Gaza had nothing to do with ethnic cleansing.
