If you were to pray to God...?

Quick question. If you were to pray to God, would it be to ask for forgiveness, ask for favors, or give thanks for what you have?

There is an anecdotal story of a person carrying a large load of firewood. When the load suddenly slips out of their grip they call out God's name in despair, since they are faced with the arduous task of single handedly reloading the wood. Miraculously, God suddenly appears before them and asks what He may do for them. In return, they ask for God to load them up again with firewood.

The idea is that we are habituated to a paltry existence, and tend not to have a broad enough intelligence to make earnest requests from God that actually benefit us.

Firewood?

I wonder why God didn't appear to offer any help when a quarter million people, many of them Christians called out God's name in vain when they died in a tsunami? It just seems more important than firewood. Maybe not to you, though.

They didn't have a broad enough intelligence to form the proper prayer?

Perhaps you need to open a thread about theodicy..
But just to cut to the chase, what sort of help would you expect such people to receive?

As one who rarely displays anything other than generic search enginable atheism, the finer aspects of thread derailment are probably not apparent to you.

1 more question you will not answer.
As 1 who lives in a dreamworld, much is not apparent to you. What is apparent to you is usually not true.
