And that raises questions Why would AI feel the need to obtain the necessary components (would AI know what the necessary components were)?

I don't think that AI is anything like that. No AI is trying to survive. No AI can prosper. Changes in the development of AI is simply the programmers refining the algorithms.
I guess you could say programmers are like infants, they are learning and changing the code so that they can sell their technology and prosper.

AI is in the infent stage for sure... but i dont see humans as bein anythang magical so no reason to thank duplication ant a real posiblity.!!!

Refining the algorithm is an evolutionary process. The new algorithms already include a "desire to learn".
One of the GPT3 unit's favorite book is "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

The new GPT learns like a human and it is able to write it's own code!!! IOW, it can learn and solve problems all by itself. If it discovers that it needs something special, it will ask for it or if it has access , will just incorporate it into its program.

An advanced AI will be able to consciously evolve itself, just as humans are doing. Not necessarily physically, but intellectually!
Except for the digitized avatars, if you close your eyes, it is a discussion between sentient beings. And GPT4 is being developed which will have almost the synaptic equivalent of the human brain.

The developers believe that there is not limit to the computational power of the new AI model. The main problem is size. The GPT units require enormous space and can really only be useful trough digitized avatars, but the brain power is astounding.
None of these discussions are preprogrammed. All of it is spontaneous and improvisational!

I just hope that a Natural Biological Human Being can exist without being controlled by ai . Freedom from electronics controlling most of our lives . Computers , ai are the electronics pinnicle . What is the pinnicle of Human Life both Intellectually and Physically . Its easier and faster and cheaper to advance electronics , than it is research into the Human Brain , Mind and Body .

The cost of the repair is brought up and it is explained Bicentennial Man will pay for it himself since he earns so much

Without an Intellect to build ai , ai would not exist . And that intellect is us . If some want to take tech , ai to the limit then that is up to you . Just Remember Our Evolution , millions of yrs to get to where we could build ai . Respect Our Human History , from the Beginning Of Human existence till now .And don't forget , ever .

The Fibonacci sequence in plants is a result of evolution in growth patterns, until the most efficient energy processing pattern emerged. Plants do not need to know the Fibonacci sequence. They just have acquired this growth pattern that outcompeted all other patterns in efficiency, balance and symmetry

Natural selection (addition) of desirable traits equates with Natural discarding (subtraction) of undesirable traits.

Sure, fact is that human are extremely limited in hardiness. Our natural survival range is quite narrow. If it weren't for our brains all of humanity would probably be extinct. We'd still be needing trees to protect us from ground predators as the other apes still do.

The little waterbear (tardigrade) has an enormous survival range. It is practically indestructible and can be found in some of the most hostile environments on earth. You can shoot this little critter out of a gun and it'll just pick itself up and amble away.

Only with the help of artificial temperature control mechanisms. That's where our brains save us from extinction.
