Atheism is a belief.

I know how to use a dictionary.

BTW, what does 'phlogistician' mean? Or rather, what do you mean by it?
If you please.
Thx.

I can't understand that.. why wouldn't they want to know the truth ?

What about my position don't you get?

...it doesn't matter if you believe me, or even if what I believe is true, it helps me make sense of life and helps me be a more effective person. So maybe I'm wrong, don't care. T1G!

BTW, Enmos, If the universe is dead, where does that leave you? Hummm?

Right here. All my building blocks are dead, or rather non-living.
Of course I am alive according to the standing definition, which I fully subscribe to.
My point is just that there is no such thing as a magical life force or some other metaphysical stuff like that.
It's a personal statement, you don't need to defend your views because of it ;)

I didn't realize that was about you..
I don't get why you are satisfied with a life philosophy that you know may possibly be wrong. Well actually that I can still get.
But you said that even if you were wrong you wouldn't care because it helps you in life.. thats mainly what I don't get. It is kind of lying to yourself.

I have faith in what I can see. You have faith in something somebody else wrote in a book.

Not really because, well, you believe what you believe, which might be wrong. But it helps you make sense of the world. Science is turned on it's head from tim to time...
When that happens, we deal with it and adjust our paradigm. Ya know?

I don't mean to imply that if someone could prove without a shadow of a doubt that my beliefs were wrong I would still cling to them. Also, I have "proven" my beliefs to my self to my satisfaction. I neither care nor wish to convince you or anyone else of them. If someone is interested, we'll talk. But I've seen proof, proof enough for me, so I have no wish to 'argue'.

It's cool, I must have misunderstood.

No worries, I didn't think you were arguing or trying to argue with me. If I came at you with too much energy it's because I have had those exchanges in the past and sometimes still do get sucked into them. It was not intended to be directed at you, per se.

You strike me as being in this category; not looking to be convinced but curious and open.
Also your question was a fair one, so I answered it. No big deal.

Damn right I am interested :)
I read that thread you linked me to, but it's still a bit vague.
If you don't mind I'd like to know more about your personal experiences.
But it will have to be tomorrow though, I'm off for now..
:)
