I can't understand that.. why wouldn't they want to know the truth ?
...it doesn't matter if you believe me, or even if what I believe is true, it helps me make sense of life and helps me be a more effective person. So maybe I'm wrong, don't care. T1G!
Perhaps, where God is concerned extremely likely. But they don't want to know..What is truth? Besides, it's unknowable.
lolFuck it. they are working on their term paper and I'm just auditing the class.
So there.

What about my position don't you get?
You have faith in something somebody else wrote in a book.
bah, so do you. we all do, we can be kind of choosey about the books is all.
Don't cop out, answer.
I have faith in what I can see. You have faith in something somebody else wrote in a book.
This implies that atoms came into existence fairly recently.I have faith in what I can see.
I didn't realize that was about you..
I don't get why you are satisfied with a life philosophy that you know may possibly be wrong. Well actually that I can still get.
But you said that even if you were wrong you wouldn't care because it helps you in life.. thats mainly what I don't get. It is kind of lying to yourself.
Not really because, well, you believe what you believe, which might be wrong. But it helps you make sense of the world. Science is turned on it's head from tim to time...
When that happens, we deal with it and adjust our paradigm. Ya know?
I don't mean to imply that if someone could prove without a shadow of a doubt that my beliefs were wrong I would still cling to them. Also, I have "proven" my beliefs to my self to my satisfaction. I neither care nor wish to convince you or anyone else of them. If someone is interested, we'll talk. But I've seen proof, proof enough for me, so I have no wish to 'argue'.
It's cool, I must have misunderstood.
You strike me as being in this category; not looking to be convinced but curious and open.If someone is interested, we'll talk.
Damn right I am interestedNo worries, I didn't think you were arguing or trying to argue with me. If I came at you with too much energy it's because I have had those exchanges in the past and sometimes still do get sucked into them. It was not intended to be directed at you, per se.
You strike me as being in this category; not looking to be convinced but curious and open.
Also your question was a fair one, so I answered it. No big deal.
I thought you were being a wise ass...
If you truly want an answer, pls restate the question.
Scroll up, it's still there.
BTW, what does 'phlogistician' mean? Or rather, what do you mean by it?
If you please.
Thx.
