That's BS. Anyone can go to college in the US who can fill out loan/grant applications. I worked my way thru undergrad without even taking out any loans by working two jobs. For Optometry school I only had time for one job and so I had to take out loans. There are plenty available and cost is really no barrier. I afforded it while working at Seven Eleven and supporting a family.

Well this is the classic concept of being a libertarian and while I tend to agree with most of their views- the vast majority of the public doesnt. Millions of Americans need someone to run their lives.

You own the land. However, the tax that you pay on it allows them to protect YOUR land so OTHER people dont steal it. Your $500 prevents the Chinese from coming over, shooting you, and living on your land. Look at it that way and it all makes sense. Unless of course you dont think you need the Governments help. In that case I recommend you sign an agreement with the local government that lets them NOT respond to any emergency calls. For that matter you also cannot use public roads or any public services. You might as well start paying money everytime you take a crap as that is a FEE and not a true pay as you use. Same with water- better get a meter on that.

And as far as the failure called the 'war on drugs'....well lets save that joke of a concept for another thread
 
I abhore selfishness too. I do believe that "freedom" peddling in the West is a part of massive propaganda campaign to atomize society, to kill solidarity among people, ability to organize, to kill historical memories, morals, traditions, ... In other words to transform a Joe into easily manipulated (through mass cult, media, school, ...) rootless human robot. Western countries are making tremendous progress in manufacturing of homo robotus (who thinks of himself as free).

I apologize for misreading you, for it seems your feelings are in fact my own: the limitless lifestyle so often repeated in entertainment and television has destroyed anything that would remain of our heritage and our western traditions while popular education has debunked and downplayed anything our western civilization once held to be valuable.

Prison is an eviction, and the Federal Government is a sovereign legal entity possessing superhuman rights and privileges, to wit acting as unimpeachable common landlord of all Americans.
