If someone loves children, why on earth would they give a low life a good reason to kill a child they have raped? Setting aside the wrongness/rightness of capital punishment, and the unstated assumption that it reduces crime, if the punishment for rape and murder is the same as it is for rape, why would the rapist allow his victim to live? Capital punishment is the worst punishment there is, you cannot add anything to it. Dead victims tell no tales. I can't believe that anyone in this thread is deluded enough to think that making child rape a capital offense would end it once and for all. It hasn't had that effect on any other offenses made punishable by death.
So I'm forced to conclude that people who advocate this are more fond of revenge more than they are of children.
Another side to this is the possibility that most pedophiles, even those who force penetration on a child, would rather die than kill the child or hurt the child further than the actual sex act. This is probably why we already have few people who kill the child after raping them. On the one hand you have "law" that would force the pedophile into a situation where he is more likely to kill a child. On the other hand, you have an alleged rabid dog type human who will risk dying before killing the child. What then? I often have more respect for pedophiles than for the campaigners against them. I think that the child has more of a chance of escaping severe damage with the pedophile, as does society itself. What evidence? Satanic ritual abuse scares, abuse of children following the discovery of sexual activity, in the case of voluntary sexual activity we have the damage done by having the child point an accusing finger at his or her lover, and of course the calls for a far more violent society. In some countries the alleged victim of molestation is killed.
Those who have good reasons to forbid sexual activity with children can apply those reasons, appeal to the public, be respectful of innocent men, and thus earn respect for their actions and their views. There is very nearly nothing respectable about the drive against teenage and childhood sex now. Everything that was respectable was driven out. At one time it seemed like therapy would have continually reduced the number of children molested by helping the molesters deal with their problems. Now we don't have that. We have a system of child abuse that has been driven underground and made a lot more horrible. I sincerely believe that a lot of the people who bash molesters think "thank God it was him and not me this time."
