2012 thread

Nvm. lol.

I'm talking about the event. Not the year. Notice the topic is called the 2012 thread. No one is talking about the year... That was a great post. Thanks. Hope it made you feel warm inside.

trying to throw haymakers with only 5 posts not a good idea ontop of that making a personal attack lol

i think hes talking about the day the earth ends or when the myan calandar ends or so its said
Except that if he'd bothered reading the OP...
* The world will not end on December 21, 2012. Period.
* The Mayan calendar does not end on that date. That date is more akin to December 31, 999 in our calendar. The next year has a lot of zeros and a new digit. BTW, disaster mongers made lots of money back in 999. This hawking of the end of the world is a very old profession.
* There is no Planet X or Nibiru.
* The Earth is not going to flip upside down in 2012, or anytime in the next several million years.
* The Earth does undergo magnetic field reversals, but these are not instantaneous events. Saying that one will happen on a specific date, let alone in a specific year, is fallacious. These reversals happen every 400,000 years -- and life has lived on through each of them,
* The Earth will not cross the galactic plane in 2012. The solar system is in fact dozens of light years away from the galactic plane.

agreed but if any of the stuff does come to be true D H will never ever ever hear the end of it
I dunno... if it's the end of the world I'd think he'd stop hearing of it round about the time he died! ;)

This isn't science. Its pseudoscience. Move the thread..

Why? When is the "Abnormal Condition" a pseudoscience? Was 9/11 a pseudo science too?

If the Mayan say there will be a new beginning and at the same time, dollar collapses to be replaced by a new currency, that would be an abnormal condition just coinciding with Mayan Prophecy!

I hate to break it to anyone, but you CAN NOT make up facts (as something obviously is going to happen) about the future, specially when that event is years away.

The world came dangerously close to its end for humans 2-3 times already, so picking dec. 21 2012 is just as good as March 13 2014...

As lucky as we are we might get hit by an asteroid or an accidental nuclear war or a world-wide squirrel apprising, you just never know....

P.S.: ..and no, the Sun will rise tomorrow is NOT a fact, yet, just a very high probability event.

Sun will rise tomorrow, it's an every day fact.

Sun will rise tomorrow, it's an every day fact.
I see you're unsure of what, exactly, constitutes a fact.
It's not a fact until it's provably (truly, actually) occurred. Therefore the Sun rising tomorrow cannot be a fact.

You're right, it's not a fact.. But it IS a highly probable event. I hope:)

That's pretty much saying that you doubt in your own existence.
If sun rising wasn't a fact the sun would not rise today, but it has risen the last 20 years of my life, every single day-it has occured, which means it's a proven fact.

Oh, wrong again.
Or are you somehow claiming that because you are alive today you will be alive tomorrow?
Without fail?
Incontrovertibly?

Yes, the Sun rose for the last 20 years of your life, and it will rise tomorrow. Unless something happens. And until, or unless, you can state with absolute certainty that there will be no "accident" to prevent the sun rising tomorrow it remains a likelihood rather than being a certain fact.

We should all know that when England holds the 2012 Olympics it will most likely be one of the worst flops in world history, however it's "Not the end of the world".

2012 is going to be like any other year, it will come and it will go, and then it will be 2013 and all those "end of worlders" will feel like complete idiots or do like various religions do and go... well it's 2020 then or 2040, or 2054 or 2110 or 2201 etc.

Yes the sun will rise tomorrow sun will not vanish, it will be here even when I or you die, the Earth will also be here.
No accident can happen to the sun, at least not for the next 4.5 billion years (approximately).
And these are the facts.

Still wrong.
But at least you appear to be happy in your ignorance.
I found the last sentence particularly funny. So now you're claiming omniscience?
Way to go...
