It's basic mammal behaviour, and we're mammals. Before monogamy nobody in a tribe could be sure who a child belonged to, so it was everyone's. The whole tribe raised and protected the child. There was no concept of ownership, everything belonged to the group.

Why can a man have sex and not be called a slut? Just because you have some deep rooted and sexist I might add belief that women should be mothers, doesnt mean all women should.

That links says nothing about anthropology. Of course, some societies have agreed to polygamy. But, I am questioning the wisdom of the youth of America, not that people do these things.
There are benefits to marriage besides family. There is a contract to stick with someone through think and thin. The synergistic effects of marriage further security and the enjoyment of life.

Monogamy is definitely under siege, not by government, declining morals, or some vast homosexual conspiracy -- but by our own evolutionary biology.

From some of the marriages I have seen thats just not true.
To you perhaps. For others, it would be a burden.
That's not marriage, that's "This female belongs to me" until some stronger male comes along and takes her. Even today guys get pretty worked up when some other guy hits on their girlfriend, with or without being married.
Tell that to the ever increasing rate of divorce.
