Who is the most spiritually advanced member of Sciforums?

...Thought Wynn was a he...

Ah - its all about "posing".

He initially presented as an upper - class middle-aged male under the handle "Signal". Then he switched that to a choir boy and switched his nick to "wynn", then announced somewhere that "he" now wished to be known as a "she". All of that kinda left many of us wondering for a minute... ...... "A rose by any other name..."

...though this thread is pretty silly and - in my humble opinion - more rank amateur trolling from a usual source. Not the first time, not the last time either.

I suspect that the actual intent (hope and and desire) is for someone to suggest the OP as the 'most spiritual SF member' so he can blushingly step forward once again into the spotlight and accept the accolades of the masses.

Fortunately, being non - spiritual and atheist, I am not really involved in this digital cyber - flatulence at all. :bugeye:

Posing...? S**t! Is that how this works?

Well... me... I'm about 6'2, 380lbs of Solid muscle.
You know how you'll be walking along and suddenly it feels like the ground shifted under your feet?
That's my bad.
When I speak, the world stops to listen.
When I open my garage door, bats fly out. My steel toe boots are wrapped in Sasquatch hide. I never grinned down a bear- I roared and he pissed his furs.

Whenever I go to the zoo, the animals bow and take a moment of silence. Lions bring me their kill.
Can't make it through airport security; my bones set off metal detectors.

I don't need a jack for my truck. Just hand me the wrench (Any size will do) and step aside.

OSHA grants me special dispensation.
I don't have rainy days. I have rainy mornings. When I step outside- the clouds run and hide. (You have no idea how much I wash that one was true.)
I don't need wind for my sailboat. I just glare at the sail and the boat moves.
I fell overboard once.
I team of sharks came and carried me to shore.

I tried to get in touch with my feminine side, once. It B**t*h slapped me and rode off with my girl on my Harley.

So, then I tried to get spiritual. I concentrated on my soul and it burst into flame.
I've been a soulless wretch ever since.

So I fail the spiritual award.

I dunno, though. Reading some of wynn's posts, if someone did step forward to claim the prize, I cannot help but think wynn would just knock him back down...

You just can't help yourself, eh, in all your enlightenment, surely being the most advanced in every regard and all that.

...You must not think that you have made any progress until you look upon yourself as inferior to all others... Thomas à Kempis (The imitation of Christ)

This is a very broad - brushed statement Sig, at this point in our relationship I do not think it is called for. There are some things that one must experience to understand, there is simply no other way, sorry. Remember that you are the one on the outside looking in, I am the on the inside looking out.....

Speaking only for myself, I have many friends whose love I deeply cherish, despite that it is not affiliated with anything other than basic daily commerce and lifestyle. The ladies behind the deli counter at the local fruit market have known me since I put my (now) 19 year old son down in his baby - bouncer on the counter when he was mere months old. In my heart of hearts and my mind of minds I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is exactly what the Buddha taught.

Exactly. :) I cannot teach it to you, you must learn it if you want to know it. The emphasis is on you.

This was taught me by my tkd instructors through the years. They were correct, I progress, even in a vacuum, by myself.

Reading the above put a healthy smile on my face....

Damn! You're bad! I nominate you for the tall tales award. Souls are not a prerequisite in that category. :D

You're welcome. But you know what I got out of that?

Typo.

Wish, not wash.

Damnit.

Damnit.

Yes, but the intent was clear in spite of the typo.

I made a post on another thread when I was overtired and noticed today that I had doubled on one word and used a homonym in another.

Oh well, gives the critics something to rejoice about. :D

I am not sure why really but for some reason the expression, "by wynning!!" shouted into my brain just now.

i think the title is mutually exclusive..

If you are a member of SciForums then you can't be spiritually Advanced..

(emphasis on 'Advanced')

Reading the latest posts by wynn (who answers my perfectly sane and controlled comment - a quotation by a greatly respected religious writer- with a :m: leaf) and TM Squirrel or whatever the heck it calls itself I see that these two trolls are paying not the slightest bit of attention to anyone but themselves, and I will no longer waste my time responding to anything they feel that they must say. In closing, I still cannot imagine why they find it necessary to vent their "beliefs" on a science forum. All they seem to say is that they have a right to express their beliefs. Sure they do, but not on a science forum where they have been told time and again that they're just being bothersome, and no one cares what they believe! I even looked at some of wynn's early posts from years ago and they're exactly the same as now: insisting he/she/it be allowed to express him/her/itself and saying very little besides other than to defy or insult other posters. I have to wonder if Squirrel and wynn's religion consists of no more than badgering and defending it's bombastic self. Do they attend service, do they adhere in their real lives to any of the tenants of their abrahamistic beliefs? I said I have to wonder, but nah! I'm not gonna! I don't care. Four or five billion other people profess religious beliefs that as far as I can tell they pay scant attention to or rarely put in to practice. Ar Squirrel and wynn better or worse than them?

I don't really care. I hope the other usual suspects who have bee wasting their time reacting and trying to reason with this pair of trolls will follow my example and ignore them and the likes of them in the future, or at least until things have cooled down a bit and those two go away.

what did i say (in this thread) to deserve that??

and I will no longer waste my time responding to anything they feel that they must say.
too late..you just did..

do they adhere in their real lives to any of the tenants of their abrahamistic beliefs?
there you go with your assumptions again..
apparently you have selective hearing also, since you missed the part where i said i do not believe as others do..

Squirrel and wynn better or worse than them?
hey now..first you better be sure that Wynn IS a theist..i am not so sure..i think he just likes to stir the pot..
AND
I have never claimed to be better than ANYONE..if fact i have claimed the opposite..

will follow my example and ignore them and the likes of them in the future, or at least until things have cooled down a bit and those two go away.
not doing a good job of ignoring..

BTW..
notice that i haven't given you any lip to any of your posts that DO NOT express your bigotry?

grow up dude..get over your prejudices.
this is a science forum..learn the truths about the ppl you speak against..

seriously, the only thing you are doing is exposing your own lack of intelligence..

You know, that is the first thought that went through my head too! Occasionally, some fine person comes through here that is a real gem, you know? But they don't stick around too long. Once they get the lay of this place I imagine they get tired of the bickering, the trolling, the arguing, the general disrespect of others opinions and immature tone of the place.

Some one earlier, way earlier in the thread, before it was bumped, mentioned the name of the administrator. I think this would be a good candidate. When I first joined here, I started a thread inquiring about who had "socks" and what they were. Naturally, no one was much honest about if they had any socks, if they had ever had any socks, or were currently using any.

And yet. . . . the administrator was very frank with me. I found that refreshing. Naturally, that post has long ago been deleted. But I can understand the need for having many different socks for the administrator. Likewise, I also believe there are probably a few that he didn't reveal to me, and maybe some on that list that were probably just close friends rather than socks. Yet, there was an instructive lesson in that post on socks, and how it helps him monitor the health of this site. It was a wise post. I'm glad that he let me know. It's helped keep me out of a whole lot of trouble, and helped me understand the balance that is inherent in sci-forums. Though some things on this forum anger me greatly, it is, in its' final analysis, a forum that is what its' users make of it.

I'm not sure an internet forum is a place where the "spiritually advanced" go to fritter away their free time. I chastise myself monthly for not doing more meditation in a more regular and disciplined way. If I was more successful at that, I would be more successful at my physical training regimen. Likewise, other things would fall into order and I would have even less time. Truthfully, the spiritually advanced don't stick around here very long, nor do they spend a lot of time on-line.

Look for those members who listen and read a lot, post little, but still come back every now and again check and see that the gang is all right one would suppose. . . .

For the most spiritually advanced member among us would be involved not for love of self, or for their ego, but so that the community would be more coherent, more loving, more friendly, more fun, and would knowledge would be shared to all in a more beneficial way. If they felt that their contribution furthered that, then I am sure a spiritually advanced person might feel their contribution could be important to the success of the community. . . .

Maybe?

It's tough being enlightened, isn't? Always knowing better than everyone else!

* * * * NOTE FROM A MODERATOR * * * *

All moderators have administrative rights over this subforum. We received a complaint about one of the posts on this thread.

As far as I'm concerned, one of the main purposes for even having this subforum is to provide a place where trolling is condoned. A "discussion" like this one, in which members are invited to criticize each other and vie for a title, cannot avoid becoming an exchange of insults.

Please keep in mind the fact that the majority of our members are immature chronologically, emotionally, or both. It would be futile to attempt to make everyone act like an adult at all times. There'd only be a handful of people at any one time who were not out on temporary or permanent bans.

I, for one, refuse to wade into this mess and attempt to "clean it up." My boots aren't tall enough.

This thread has nothing to do with the purpose of SciForums. Anyone who doesn't like it is free to ignore it.

No wait, make that urged to ignore it.

^Ha! Good one!

In fact, all the religious/spiritual traditions that I am familiar with, state that claiming to be advanced is a sure sign that one is not advanced.
