i think the title is mutually exclusive..
If you are a member of SciForums then you can't be spiritually Advanced..
(emphasis on 'Advanced')
You know, that is the first thought that went through my head too! Occasionally, some fine person comes through here that is a real gem, you know? But they don't stick around too long. Once they get the lay of this place I imagine they get tired of the bickering, the trolling, the arguing, the general disrespect of others opinions and immature tone of the place.
Some one earlier, way earlier in the thread, before it was bumped, mentioned the name of the administrator. I think this would be a good candidate. When I first joined here, I started a thread inquiring about who had "socks" and what they were. Naturally, no one was much honest about if they had any socks, if they had ever had any socks, or were currently using any.
And yet. . . . the administrator was very frank with me. I found that refreshing. Naturally, that post has long ago been deleted. But I can understand the need for having many different socks for the administrator. Likewise, I also believe there are probably a few that he didn't reveal to me, and maybe some on that list that were probably just close friends rather than socks. Yet, there was an instructive lesson in that post on socks, and how it helps him monitor the health of this site. It was a wise post. I'm glad that he let me know. It's helped keep me out of a whole lot of trouble, and helped me understand the balance that is inherent in sci-forums. Though some things on this forum anger me greatly, it is, in its' final analysis, a forum that is what its' users make of it.
I'm not sure an internet forum is a place where the "spiritually advanced" go to fritter away their free time. I chastise myself monthly for not doing more meditation in a more regular and disciplined way. If I was more successful at that, I would be more successful at my physical training regimen. Likewise, other things would fall into order and I would have even less time. Truthfully, the spiritually advanced don't stick around here very long, nor do they spend a lot of time on-line.
Look for those members who listen and read a lot, post little, but still come back every now and again check and see that the gang is all right one would suppose. . . .
For the most spiritually advanced member among us would be involved not for love of self, or for their ego, but so that the community would be more coherent, more loving, more friendly, more fun, and would knowledge would be shared to all in a more beneficial way. If they felt that their contribution furthered that, then I am sure a spiritually advanced person might feel their contribution could be important to the success of the community. . . .
Maybe?
