True. Those were my formative years. I graduated from high school in 1985. I was much more tuned into pop culture then. So some hot chick I see now doesn't make the same lasting impression on me that the icons from the eighties did.
But the "Murphy Brown" post was motivated more by her part on Boston Legal. The guys on the show are all hot for her, perhaps because (in their minds) they're still seeing her as she was:

I would have to say Sarah Brightman has got to be one of the hottest women on the face of the earth. Her voice cuts through me like a hot knife on butter. Her voice is absoutely amazing! It is just not looks with Sarah, it is the whole package. Her voice just cuts to the soul.
