A number of high profile establishment figures have recently called for the legalisation of the world’s oldest profession, including the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, the Chief Constable of the Lancashire force and a number of senior judges. They argue that as prostitution is not going away, licensed brothels will: keep vulnerable women off the streets; help prevent the spread of STD; bring more revenue and keep the women and men safe!

should prostituion be legalised yes or no?

i think yes it should be, it works well in other places why cant it work everywhere else?

Just remember, licensed brothels won't stop regular ol' street prostitution. So it's not a case of one or the other. So all the good points about regulated brothels is not, NOT, necessarily true.

So ...in answer to the question ..... honestly, I just don't know.

no perhaps it wont stop street walkers but it will reduce the amounts of them!

Do you have any studies that prove that? I just don't think it will, mainly because it's too easy for people to see a man walk into a brothel. Whereby he can cruise the streets and pick up some whore and not be noticed.

I have several friends who work as "escorts", which is mostly another term for prostitute, and they say it wouldn't affect their business one iota. And I believe them. One phone call and ..voila'. Where with a brothel, one has to drive there to get his bell rung!

I find quite a little logic in prostitution illegalization. Why do government do this? More corruption I guess...
Horny bastards are still going to pay for sex, illegalization doesn´t make any difference, except that of a LOT more organized crime.

i worked at a local brothel for a few months, and i find many men prefer the saftey of knowing the woman is clean, because the girls are tested

EXACTLY! Why should it be against the law to pay for sex between two consenting adults? People like to have sex. They're going to do it/pay for it regardless of what the ever-increasingly inept gub'mint does.

Usually the bust is for "communication" of money for sex.

It is not illegal (usually) to leave a hundred bucks on the dresser after you bang. Well frankly we know why Wilma takes Fred's wallet and leaves him with a fiver to sustain his ass at the quarry for one more day...

Illegal : "I will pay you a hundred bucks for a blowjob"
Cop : "One hundred dollars for a blowjob?"
John : "yes"
Cop : "Busted"

And many don't care as long as they get their bell rung properly.

in the place i worked and all the other places the owner owned she insisted the girls get tested, and in fact she even paid for the tests to be done.

It's an old argument but if porn stars get paid to have sex, then why should prostitution be illegal? The job description is more or less the same, it's really only the fact that 'clients' are an unknown quantity in prostitution. Oh and as far as I'm aware prostitutes don't get filmed while on the job.

Again, in most countries it is the public communication of money for sex that people get busted for.

People(concenting adults) can do whatever they want in private(most places). Public communication and living off the avails are the crimes.

I'd have to say "yes, it should be legalized," but I do so reluctantly. I find it discomfiting personally, and I'd probably look askance at anyone admitting to visiting brothel, but I can see no good reason to enforce my personal preferences as law.

i understand why men and women visit such places, many of the women role play and do differant things, and perhaps if they did legalise it then the rape rate will drop.

i cant condem the people that use such places.

That for sure.

The following questions come to minds-

Is working in a brothel an acceptable career choice for women?

In the town with the brothel, would most of the the village women be working there?

I say no to legalisation.

I also think more likely than not that that the owner of the hooker house were male he would not want his own daughter working there...based on that alone i would not legalise it.

It already is legal, where I live.

And what did it change? What were the conditions and crime situation prior to the change, and what miraculous changes occured due to the legalization of prostitution?

Your area should be/could be a prime test case proving all kinds of interesting things ....yet you only chose to post that one-liner?
