Sciforums Fleet

Katrina looked away when Rico and Celeste kissed, pretending to look at the shocked faces of her men. She then said,

"Yeah, we umm...moved on since then,"

"I know I did," Rico said,

The Padre then asked,

"So, who dumped who? Lets hear it!"

"Yeah, lets hear it!"

"Yeah!"

They knew why they wanted to, so they can rub it in to each other's faces. Rico and Katrina have a temporary truce on this,

"It was simultaneous," Rico said,

"Yeah, we just separated, but this time I'm better than you, unlike before,"

"Yeah? Last I checked you almost failed Wilderness Survival because you are squeamish about insects," Rico sent right back, the truce was over.

"You know what? My MS and Language scores are higher than yours, highlight the MS part," She snapped,

"MS...by how much? Only by 1 recon armored kill, big whoop,"

"You had a better start, and I still beat you,"

"I had a better start, not much room for improvement, you admitted I'm better?"

"No, we'll see during the joust,"

"Yeah we'll,"

"An odd team we sure make, huh tori." Kent said

"Yup..." I sighed

"Here do you mind?" I said handing him the drill.

He took it "What are you doing?" he asked

"This" I flipped several switches and the lift removed the primary core from my wraith.

"She's a beauty" I said wiping my hands from the grease.

"So how's it work?" he said

I was surprised

"Hey don't look at me like that, I was hoping to become an aerospace engineer one day." he said

"heh, duty calls." I said

"Alright, this outer ring right here is a cylindrical fusion reactor. Pretty similar to the ones that power the other mechs except the others are spherical. Its donut shaped and rather slim." I said

"So what's the assembly in the center?" he asked

"That is the actual phase inducer." I said

"It's cylindrical and pretty much occupies all the space in the hole from the fusion reactor." I said

"Wow, so how's it work?" he said

"Well, basically the fusion reactor creates highly ionized plasma which is directed through a dozen feed tubes to the lower and upper assemblies. The plasma goes through the center guided by magnets. But the electrons which have seperated are forced outwards and through the four phasing discs." I said

"Depending on their speed the individual disc can set the particle output to a specific phase range. The elctron is phased to within a certain range depending on which of the four it goes through, then they leave the assembly through the bottom as phased particles. By running them through the wraith like a circulatory system..." I said

"It can change the phase of the constituent atoms that make up the wraith." he completed

"Exactly." I said

"But what about the plasma?" he said

"It gets held inside of the cone assembly which guides it back into the reactor until the pressure builds up that an internal magnetic valve releases it." I said

"Doesn't that cause a problem?" he said

"Well it usually isn't too significantly high unless I'm in battle. And when I am I usually phase a few times, I try to relieve the pressure when I'm phased out." I said

"That's smart" he said

"Well the inherent problem lies in the pilot." I said showing him my hand which was covered in the silver veins.

"Still, almost maes it worth while." he said whistling at the core.

"Yah, hey, wanna help out? I've gotta clean out and replace the teeth on the discs." I said

"Yah, I'd love to." he said

"Alright, lets get started." I said as I grabbed another drill.

Luna then interrupted and said,

"I hate to break it to you two, but it is on horseback,"

"What?!" Ace exclaimed,

"I am guessing none of you paid any attention, good thing I did," Luna said,

"Seriously?!" Rico asked, outraged,

"You gotta stop daydreaming Romano," Katrina said,

"Doesn't matter, horseback will be fine, I can still win,"

Celeste then whispered to him,

"Have you ever rode a horse?"

"Yeah, we were forced to learn how," Rico whispered back, "I can manage,"

Rico then checked his watch,

"Time to leave, we don't like to be late,"

"Alright, damn its been ten hours." Kent said

"Best use of ten hours I've had for a while." I said

"Yah, if it weren't for this I'd probably have to be running the simulator with Adder and cade." Kent said

I flipped the switch, the core descended back into the backpack of my mech and the seals engaged. "Alright, lets start her up." I said

"It's a her?" he said

"Yah, I named her Peny." I said

"What?" he said

"Phased Electron Nuclear Inverter." I said

"buts that's an 'I'" he said

"Yah but thus far only one guy's had the guts to complain about it." I said laughing

"Alright, so now we just seal the cap on?" he said

"Yah, that's the easy part, just try to not let it hit the cone." I said

They walked towards their Royal Reception Hall, the most luxuriously and lavishly decorated place in this entire facility. Rico sometimes wonder if things of this nature is the reason why the regular forces constantly get budget cuts. Celeste gasped in awe as they entered,

"This...this place is awesome!" she turned to Rico and said, "And you told me you guys lived in terrible bunkers,"

Aces interrupted and said,

"We do, they are just in the other side of the compound,"

Ghost, a small female pilot from Octavian Squadron said,

"Don't listen to them, they can't handle it, it isn't that bad, those fancy boys can't handle it,"

Ace rolled his eyes and said,

"Right, we should have a video of you complaining about it,"

The Padre then said,

"Guys...quiet, look around you,"

All the important delegates, military leaders, bureaucrats and aristocrats, and of course their family and friends. They pretended not to notice the pilots' bickering, but they all knew they just pretended. Celeste whispered to Rico,

"I'll find a place to sit, okay?"

"Yeah, sure,"

Rico and the rest of the graduates then moved up to the front and sat down, waiting for the King to arrive.

"Alright, she's purring like a cat." I said

The cleaned up core was working beautifully.

"Thank G-d, I was worried that we may have had to do that whole thing again." he said

"Yah, first time I did this I had to do it all over three times." I said

"Jesus Christ." he said

OOC:

Damn, I have to watch saving private ryan for a school assignment. And it is really damn distracting.

I watched it a few times before, good movie :D Watching the Stanley Cup right now :D

How is it distracting?

I wish Canadians win, hopefully Vancouver smashes the shit out of Chicago, no offense to Americans :D

hard to think up a story while watching the army assault the beach.

In 20/20 hindsight, they really should've called in the marines and at least a few ships from the pacific fleet.

The Fog of War, thats the reason why.

Japanese intelligence and Axis intelligence is good enough to respond to large movements of Pacific Theater forces. Plus the USA had to fight Japan...

They did use Marines. It was shown from the Ranger's POV

P.S. Rangers are SOCOM

Doubtful, the Germans weren't and quite as good terms with the Japanese as you'd think. The Japanese never declared war on Russia despite their alliance. And there was 0 reason for Hitler to declare war on America after Japan did.

Japan's ability to fight far outclassed Germany's. Japan's soldiers were veterans, they had been fighting since the SS was in their diapers.

Lets just assuming if Japan did not leak intel on the United States ( they will due to any military action that will deal great harm to the United States is their benefactor ).

German have good enough renaissance and intelligence capability to respond to it themselves.

So were many of Germany's soldiers, veterans from WWI.

SS were the "racial elite" and kinda similar to the Soviet-domestic KGB as for duties.

The Pazers and Luftwaffe aces were the military elite.

Veterans...well take a look at the Luftwaffe's ( which are the world's ) top scoring aces and see how many are actually veterans ( not a lot! ).

I almost forgot the U-boats of the German Navy

Interesting fact. We broke the Japanese political code PURPLE. The Japanese ambassador to Germany was given a tour of the sea wall.

Guess what code he transmitted that info through? :p

No, I mean literally they had been fighting in battles from before WW1 into WW2.

And most of the German veterans from WW1 weren't too good. The ones that had been making the winning push at the beginning of the war had mostly perished. Most of the veterans weren't trained for offenssive warfare but defensive because they were the final line of defense before entering Germany.

You know who are more badass then the rangers, delta force, or the SEALs?

Air Force para rescue.

Those guys are insanely tough. SEAL training lasts a several months and with a 70-80% drop out average I think, or maybe it was 80%-90%. Para rescue go through training for two years and the drop out rate is on average 95%

Anyways, parascue is not SOCOM combat, they are insertion and extraction. They can BE combat though.

Guess who is even better?

Air Force Special Ops Tactical Fighter Squadrons :D

I really meant their command staff, the soldiers were mostly fresh.

"Alright, wraith launching!" I said

The catapult engaged and launched me out of the ship.

The moment I cleared the prow I did a roll, the wings flared outwards and I accelerated.

It was a gorgeous feeling, the rush of the g's. The brilliance of the wings.

OOC: Oh dear G-d, Hanks is doing another silly story about his background that miraculously inspires everyone. May G-d help those poor Krauts after this one.

In game again:

"The enemy is six strong, they're the grey knights executioners from Damocles." Kim said

"Shit, I didn't think we'd have to worry about these guys so soon." Adder said

Over the comm I heard, "So here they are, the 'angels of Solitude', were gonna clip those wings." an older voice said coming over the radio.

"You kiddies have been dealing with the JV, now your in our league. Prepare to die." one of them said

He charged me with a massive warhammer that appeared to be electrified.

What is it? The 24th special tactics squadron I believe?

Although they have no official affiliation with the tier one special forces, its susected they are.

But guess who the SEALs call in when they need to get rescued? Pararescue.
