Shogun quickly at the first opportunity opened fire on their leader, two in the chest and one in the head. Shogun smiled...too easy. Everyone else stopped frozen, Shogun opened fire on the rest of them without hesitation, but they all evaded the shots and were all over the place, returning the favor. Those guys were fast, faster then the guys from before. The battle was fought not on the ground, but kicking off walls and ceilings and through the air. Shogun the remembered his training, a particular day...
"Cadet Yamato!"
He was overwhelmed...what is this power? He lasted 10 seconds and blacked out, in the middle of a live-fire training exercise. He was lucky that he was the one with the live-fire or he most definitely would have been fried. He lay there sweating heavily and breathing laboredly, wincing from the headache. He is both mentally and physically fatigued, despite going in the simulation fresh and awake. His weapon lay 2 meters from him, it never happened before. As soon as he concentrated on turning his power, he was overwhelmed with information and his brain overclocked to process all of it. The last thing he remembered was jumping high in the air, getting a flash of a tensor and a vector in his head, numbers flashed again, not in front of his eyes, but in his mind, but was it really in his eyes of mind? Then a red dot and arrow appeared in what he presumed to be that location....was it red? He couldn't remember. He opened fire on that target at precisely the moment specified with his high-powered rifle in the air. He then he didn't remember a thing. He presumed that he blacked-out then hit the ground with a thud. What is this power? He remembered it being called Geass or something like that...he is pretty sure that it was a female voice, then again voices can be changed, but he swore he saw a female figure when he made the contract, but the memory is vague, he didn't get a clear look.
"Cadet Yamato! Cadet Yamato!"
"Sir," he responded, breathing laboredly,
"Report,"
"Sir, I blacked out and fell sir," Shogun responded, he didn't know what to say, will Sergeant Webber believe him even if he told him? Sergeant Webber wasn't really a sergeant, he was an officer, decorated and field commissioned to Captain, then volunteered for Academy afterwards to be a 2nd Lieutenant, he got up to Colonel, refused any promotions so he can fight on the front lines, then gave up his officer's commission to be an instructor to raise and babysit a bunch of kids from birth, there were rumors that after he was transfered to ESSCPA, he picked this job and wouldn't take no for an answer. He was completely different on and off duty, being the strict, cold, drill sergeant that expects nothing but perfection while on duty, to a kind, gentle, sympathetic, fatherly figure while off duty. He always put his boys first, before anything. If anyone would believe him, it would be him.
"I can see that cadet, I want to know why you blacked out in the middle of a live-fire exercise!"
His voice was booming in his helmet.
"Sir, I don't know sir,"
Shogun was brutally honest, he did not honestly know,
"You don't know?! Well we all know we will have one less mouth to feed if there was return fire! Cadet, you will skip a day's meals and you will have extra-duty and PT for 3 days! Is that clear cadet!"
"Sir, yes sir!" he returned, mustering all his energy,
"You will come to my office, 2015 hours," It meant they need a talk, after duty.
"Yes sir,"
There goes 6 meals, and he got extra duty in exchange...jolly...couldn't have picked a worse time.
While everyone else ate, Shogun cleaned the latrines. Normally, everything that didn't involve combat was done by civilian employees and droids, but the Sergeant insisted on leaving a few jobs to his boys. Sergeant Webber actually had to argue for it, the reason why is beyond him. From his point of view, it was an utter waste of time, energy and of Super Soldiers, he actually agreed with the top brass on this. His was the only unit that had to do this. His battlegroup didn't have to do any of this, nobody did, even the senior trainees. He and the other commanders-in-training of his battlegroup were assigned to Sergeant Webber, who was also the Chief Mobile Suit Combat Instructor. It is funny because legally, Midshipmen are higher then Petty Officers, but if anyone thinks thats how it works in reality, they are very mistaken. Webber is technically a Petty Officer, but everyone called him Sergeant, including the commanding instructors, unless it is official business. He was as much a sergeant as much as he is a midshipman. It was hard work, cleaning the latrines. Usually, his "squad" did it together, the Sergeant insisted on it, unless it is an individual exercise that said trainee fouled up. So thats why an eight-year old cadet is now cleaning the latrines like "young gentlemen" - thats what the higher-ups called them. He was just lucky that it was his squad's washroom, and that this is ESSCPA Special Operations. Who knows how much worse it would have been had it been someone else's latrines, or even from Sergeant Webber's stories, the marines'. Even, if the latrines are in pretty good shape already, the Sergeant expected it to literally shine. He checked the time, 2000 hours. He took a quick shower and got himself ready in a fresh set of BDUs. He rung the doorbell on the sergeant's door,
"Come in Shogun,"
"Yes sarge," the door opened then closed behind him, the sergeant was there doing paperwork.
"Take a seat son," he sat in the seat across from his desk. The sergeant put down his paperwork and then looked at Shogun worried and asked,
"What happened back there son? It wasn't normal,"
"I'm sorry sarge, it won't happen again," he said feeling the guilt, it probably hurt more for the sergeant then did it for him, they all knew it.
"No, no, thats not what I meant," the sergeant got up, Shogun instinctively followed suit, the sergeant said smiling, "Sit down son,"
He went and got a cup of hot chocolate. They didn't have them here, in fact, Sergeant Webber had to either make excuses or smuggle them in. He always smuggled food in for them, he said they were "still boys and should have a change of taste once in a while from the junk they were fed". Shogun said thank you and then took a drink. He almost spat it out, it was delicious, but it was hot. Sergeant Webber chuckled and said,
"Take your time, I won't rush you,"
He nodded and then took a small sip.
"What I meant was, you finished the simulation in record time, making the previous records seem like they are from a retirement home, I haven't seen anyone do that before, heck I could never dream to be that good," before Shogun opened his mouth, he put a hand up, "You don't have to tell me what I can and can't do son, I know what you did was way better then what I can ever do, in fact all of you will pass me pretty quickly, every single one of you, I really hope you do and I am happy," Shogun then sat back and he continued, "I have never seen anyone do it in one try, 35 targets 5 centimeters in diameter moving at Mach 5, in what seemed like randomized flight paths, if someone told me that and I didn't see it with my own eyes, I would send them to the infirmary to be checked out, you did it in one shot, nobody have done that before"
"Then you suddenly blacked out in mid air and fell," he paused and then said, "I knew it wasn't your fault son, but what happened?"
Shogun told him all he knew about Geass and exactly what happened as he remembered it, he have an eidetic memory just like all Super Soldiers, but some memories, probably the most important details were vague.
"I see, it seems that you have been given a weapon,"
