SamCDKey is a Gay Male

More special powers. The power to recognize and be deeply offended by variations in subtle foot orientations. Amazing.

Its cultural difference:

Avoid admiring an item to an excess, your host may feel obligated to give it to you. When offered a gift, it is impolite to refuse.

Often shoes are removed before entering a building. Follow the lead of your host.

There are several styles of greetings in use, it is best to wait for your counterpart to initiate the greeting. Men shake hands with other men. Some men will shake hands women, however it is advisable for a businesswoman to wait for a man to offer his hand. A more traditional greeting between men involves grasping each other’s right hand, placing the left hand on the other’s right shoulder and exchanging kisses on each cheek.

The left hand is considered unclean and reserved for hygiene. Gesture and eat with the right hand.

Do not point at another person.

Men walking hand in hand is a sign a friendship.

Do not cross your legs when sitting, showing the bottom of your shoe or foot is offensive.

The "thumbs up" gesture can also be considered offensive by some.

Gifts are not necessary, but appreciated. If you do give a gift, it will be opened in private.

Well, that seems like an easy solution to the whole middle east crisis then.

"Hey, what a beautiful country you have here. It's really great. Wonderful. Beautiful. Stupendous!!!!"

Still haven't heard of toilet paper or bidets over there?

I remember once I was passing by the drivers room at work and they were having these gorgeous red dates (fresh) and they were really tasty and different from the ones I had seen before ( its polite to to greet people you pass and if they are eating, they offer you and its impolite to refuse). So I gushed over them (unknowingly) and the next day I had 5 kgs of the stuff delivered to me. Took me ages to get rid of them!

cleaning with water using left hand and cleaning the left hand with water thoroughly afterwards. no dry cleaning. :D

Talk about sex is pretty unrestricted between men, between women (even mothers daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters) and between spouses.
That's good, right?

Don't you think an overabundance of cultural traditions and taboos might be in some small way responsible for a society being more easily "offended" by just about anyone and make cooperative behavior that much less likely?

You mean polite behaviour is overrated? Etiquette should be cast to the dogs?

Its pretty much the same in Asia too. *shrugs*

Frankly seeing the way some children behave here I have to say I prefer it.

Plus they do make allowances for the fact that those not from their society are under Jahilliyah (in a state of ignorance).

Of course, that is under the presumption everyone actually uses their left hands.

Its standard behaviour. Regardless of handedness everyone eats with the right hand and does "unclean" stuff with the left.:p

Its probably because they eat using fingers that they have these rules in the first place (as we do, in India).

Wait, wait, wait. You mean to say that people, after taking a messy dump, will soap-up their hand, stick it down there and scoop and scrub, then wash the hand of choice afterwords? Do I understand this correctly? Someone pleas tell me I'm wrong.

Could you try to respond with a bit less rhetoric?

The etiquette rules are universal in Arabia, even those who are casual among friends and peers know the rules well enough to follow them with strangers and superiors.

There you go. No skid marks seen there. Ever.:p

So you don't think that adding pointless (oops, pun) ways to be offended could lead to more offences?
