SamCDKey is a Gay Male

Does this give you permission to stab him repeatedly in the chest? Or at least deny him the next bite of living rabbit liver?

What about when he shows you the bottom of his shoe?

Well for me it used to mean, check if all my buttons are done up.:D

Tidbit two:

In the desert due to the intense dry heat, everyone covers their faces; the men use the shumag (red and white checked cloth) that they wear on their head. Its impossible to be outside with your face exposed, you feel like you're being cooked slowly.

I heard that it was a deadly insult.
Maybe only when directed towards a man?

Showing your shoe? Even sitting with your feet pointed outward towards someone is a sign of poor etiquette and a conservative Arab will get deeply offended. They are very strict about proper etiquette in speech and behaviour.

Of course, I'm speaking of the educated Arabs. Uneducated ones are less particular.

Hence the impromptu outbreak of a civil war in Iraq. Someone forgot to align his toes properly.

You know. About those women in Burkas. I remember watching this thing on HBO a long time ago about "Beneath the Burka" or some such. It was about how the women would get together to clean their twats and practice fellatio on bananas and whatnot so as not to get traded in for newer, more pleasing, less stanky wives.
Apparently the women don't mind showing off their naked bodies as long as their faces are covered up. They'll let their cooches air out for all to see. (Of course, they'd probably get murdered if their hubbies found out what they were doing, but that's another matter altogether.)

Sam also made mention somewhere about how Arab women would cover up their faces when naked while Western women would cover their genitals.

It has something to do with stepping on people, right? Like when Baghdad was taken and they showed the Iraqi guy with his shoe in his hand smacking Saddam's poster?

Its hard to recognise someone just by their bodies, easier by the face, don't you think?

I think I said it's an East vs West thing. I actually read it in a book on Eastern sexual history, Jewel in the Lotus, though westernization may have made the differences less obvious now.

Actually taking off your shoe or slipper to smack someone is a sign of disrespect through out the East. Its equivalent to saying the person is like dust beneath the feet.

Hey.
That was exactly what the women said they were doing.
Well, paraphrased.
But that was their fear. That if they didn't get together to clean each other up and work on sex and sexiness and stuff they'd get discarded.

Ask Monica Lewinski and the Grand Jury that question...

More special powers. The power to recognize and be deeply offended by variations in subtle foot orientations. Amazing.

What a bunch of backward bufoons. That's how we americans welcome guests to dinner! Arabs are so uncivilized.
