No, people are saying that women don't get to have the same rights that men do, viz, to have the right to refuse to have others in their body. Clearly this right doesn't extend to women, or you would not say that women require "more justification".
So, please, continue with your campaign to promote rape.
Physbang... none of this is helpful, constructive or really even necessary. It's uncalled for, absurd and most certainly not realistic. I will need to ignore your contributions in this thread because frankly, they are intolerable. I will not place you on ignore because your contributions in other threads are very good. But this "campaign to promote rape" is just way out of line. If you have so much beef with the fact men cannot conceive, dude please take it up with God, Allah, Darwin or whatever floats your boat.
EDIT-moved from post number 201
Possibly true, because what you just said went right over my head.Oh dear..
/faceplant desk.. You still aren't understanding this actual debate and issue...
Neverfly, this debate and the proposal is a sexist and political argument.
Let's take this one step by step.
Ok, Bells, just pass over the fact without comment that I can be an idiot sometimes... What initiative? The initiative's central basis of granting personhood
I came barging in here arguing my position- ok fine... But yeah- what initiative?
Clearly, I cannot agree with that, because placing it at conception, to my political position is to give something that does not have a human brain priority over something that does not have a human brain. What it does is ensure that the very moment a woman becomes pregnant, the embryo/foetus she is carrying is granted more rights to exist than she does.
Forgive me Bowser...
Ok, if there is an initiative for Law that does this, I'm totally against it.In short, once she becomes pregnant, she becomes a mere incubator without any rights at all over her own body, nor does she get to have a say, regardless of her health, regardless of her age, regardless of how she became pregnant (rape or incest for example).
Note above where I said I'm an idiot sometimes. But look at the bright side... All of you now know my position on abortion...The very moment she becomes pregnant means that she is a non-entity in regards to her rights because the foetus' rights supersede hers. So even if she is ill, is a victim of rape or incest, at no time can she have a say to choose her own life..
Your carrying on about 3rd trimester abortions is the misrepresentation of the facts and the discussion of this thread. You are sidetracking the actual issue by diverting attention away from the issue.
Ok ok ok ok For disrupting the actual intent of the thread, to everyone... damnit.
I hate this.
I'm sorry for creating such a distraction. Somewhere at reading the first few posts, I was under an entirely different impression and once things got going and heated, I really didn't go back and read the O.P. Tiassa, may you forgive that.
On this one, I disagree. Claiming that I'm promoting rape was uncalled for even if I agreed with that initiative- which I don't think I do... (I gotta go look up what that is all about now... sigh).PhysBang actually showed clearly what would happen if "personhood" is granted from the moment of conception. The woman ceases to have any rights whatsoever.
Faceplant deserved.
