Quotes to remember

"I tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra," ----Carrie Fisher

“Just be, right now, here; & breathe.
Stop questioning every little thing, stop analysing how it should be and let go of the control, you hold so tightly onto; and begin to trust the magic of yourself.”
― Nikki Rowe

"Let's all just say “the hell with it!” and become really creative at last… free, basking, wandering, idly stopping here and there, tasting, enjoying."
— Jack Kerouac

“To me the outdoors is what you must pass through in order to get from your apartment into a taxicab.”
― Fran Lebowitz

I know she lives in NYC but when I read that it reminded me of a two day stay in Bangkok. It was hot, humid, polluted air, raw sewage running under the sidewalks, terrible traffic. You just wanted to get from the air conditioned hotel to the relatively decent air in a taxi and "outdoors" wasn't something that you wanted to maximize.

“I built my home in the feeling of waking up at dawn in a new city, where every road is the right road because there is no ordinary. Everything is as profound as you make it.”
― Charlotte Eriksson

When speaking of the “outdoors,” I think of where you live, with its starry nights, enchanted forests and beautiful landscapes!

''There is no better distraction than to lose oneself in a good book for a while.'' - Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

Kind of a bold statement; I wouldn't say no better distraction, but it's one of the better ones.

"I could not live in any of the worlds offered to me — the world of my parents, the world of war, the world of politics. I had to create a world of my own, like a climate, a country, an atmosphere in which I could breathe, reign, and recreate myself when destroyed by living. That, I believe, is the reason for every work of art."~Anaïs Nin

So do I but I can't image seeing Uranus without a telescope so your skies must be pretty nice on a clear night.

Of course I'm sure there is a great place "outdoors" in the PNW where the skies are that clear but it's not in Seattle itself. :)

"In this universe we are given two gifts: the ability to love, and the ability to ask questions. Which are, at the same time, the fires that warm us and the fires that scorch us."---Mary Oliver

"As long as there are human beings about there is never going to be any peace for any individual upon this earth (or anywhere else they might escape to). All you can do is maybe grab ten lucky minutes here or maybe an hour there. "~Charles Bukowski

“I think it's so foolish for people to want to be happy. Happy is so momentary--you're happy for an instant and then you start thinking again. Interest is the most important thing in life; happiness is temporary, but interest is continuous.”
― Georgia O'Keefe

Where does interest in being happy fit?

:)

“Tell people there's an invisible man in the sky who created the universe, and the vast majority will believe you. Tell them the paint is wet, and they have to touch it to be sure.”
—George Carlin

“Man is manifestly not the measure of all things. This universe is shot through with mystery. The very fact of its being, and of our own, is a mystery absolute, and the only miracle worthy of the name.”

“That's the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody's going to be against, and everybody's going to be for. Nobody knows what it means, because it doesn't mean anything.”
― Noam Chomsky
