Post a Cool Picture

The age old question comes to mind: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? :D

Backyard chicken farmers, take heart – you don’t have to build an ugly wire-and-wood contraption to hold your birds. “The Nogg” is a modern egg-shaped chicken coop for 2-4 chickens, made from cedar wood, stainless steel and glass. It even has a little round window at the top so you can peer in and check the progress of your uber-fresh eggs.

Some interesting photos on a wide range of topics, both man-made and 'au natural', LOL....

I thought that this was quite an interesting construction....

This would be interesting to drive...

Most Crooked Street, Lombard Street, San Francisco, CA

The street is famous for a small section near the top of Russian Hill, between Hyde and Leavenworth streets. Here the hill is so steep (27°) that it would be too dangerous for most vehicles, so between 1922 and 1923 this part of Lombard Street was transformed into a switchback with eight sharp turns. Cars can only drive downhill, east-bound towards Leavenworth Street.

The crooked section of the street, which is about 400 m long, is reserved for one-way traffic traveling east (downhill) and is paved with red bricks. The speed limit in this section is 8 km/h.

Where went my pictures? Let's try another.....

Sure wouldn't want to live there. With all the tourists wanting to drive down it it's usually pretty busy.
These days you can say that about the entire city of San Francisco. Traffic is gridlocked and there's no place to park. Whatever did they think was going to happen when they abolished the 13-floor limit on buildings because of modern earthquake-stabilization technology?

Not allowing a freeway to be built through the city was a nice idea, but the down-side of that is the traffic. Public transportation can get you around the city pretty nicely, but except for the BART tunnel to Oakland (and who the heck wants to go there?) there's no way in or out except by car. Traffic is gridlocked all the way to San Jose on the south side and all the way to Santa Rosa on the north side. Many surveys rank it as the second-worst traffic in America, behind only New York. It's more-or-less tied with Washington, and Los Angeles isn't even in the running anymore.

Lombard Street looks too scary from the top for most people to try. Just driving on any of those steep streets for which the city is famous can be pretty exciting. Not a good place for a manual transmission!
