Osama Bin Laden is Dead

Just surprising thats all. I will find out, but from what I know, they import all HD units from korea germany and japan, catheters from china and fluid bags from Japan. Even if cost is not a problem [it is prohibitive for the average Pakistani costing around 5000 a session which is probably half of the average monthly salary] it is not possible to import large amounts of medical equipment for years privately without setting off alarms somewhere. Or maybe it is. I don't know much about smuggling. I'm not aware of home dialysis units being available there.

Ermm you can buy them on Ebay...

And many of them ship world wide..

What eyebrows do you think it would raise if one was ordered on ebay, for a fairly cheap price and had it shipped to a nice upper-middle class and affluent suburb in Pakistan, one known as a sort of retirement area of ex servicement and intelligence?

Don't you even bother reading your own links? They say he had two of them with him when he entered Afghanistan. So in truth you shouldn't be 'surprised' at all! Just like it shouldn't surprise you that your own bloody article said the US never believed he was dead and said Musharaf was 'guessing'.

Yes of course but I assumed he was getting a full HD But yeah, you could be right. And he would need two, since without dialysis he would be dead in a week.So a spare is absolutely essential. Regardless, this is all conjecture since we don't know if two machines were present in his apartment [or if he was even requiring dialysis]

Modern home dialysis systems don't require "large amounts of medical equipment for years." We're talking about quantities that wouldn't even register on the international systems for tracking such, since they're so small.

Or maybe it is. I don't know much about smuggling.

Given that we're talking about a group that specializes in smuggling not just vanilla medical supplies, but various types of banned weapons, large sums of money, fake documents, and wanted criminals, probably such is not beyond their capacities.

I'm not aware of home dialysis units being available there.

They're available anywhere, if you have a bit of money. They are sold on the open market. You just buy one from any of the various companies that sell them, and have them ship it to wherever is convenient for you. There's no requirement that he must have obtained such from a local Pakistani hospital or whatever. You can order them over the internet.

But, again, it has not been established that OBL was on any kind of ongoing dialysis regimen to begin with. That's just rumors.

Remember this quote:

"We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them."

I assume we'll let Pakistan off the hook by assuming they somehow didn't know OBL was in town. I seriously doubt they'll raise much of a fuss about our violating their sovereignty.
I read it was actually a ISI safe-house. Any truth to that?

I bet the Afghan and Indian press relish the idea of smearing Pakistan in their own shit. One wonders why on earth THEY kept Bin Laden alive??? What were they thinking?

Probably such happens all of the time - there's enough affluent people around, and surely a certain amount of them have kidney problems, so...

It's a conspriacy theory no matter how you claim to have come by it.

Ah, so "Americans are gullible sheep" wasn't an offensive generalization, because you only meant "the predominant national character of America is gullible sheep, although there are some individual exceptions."

Totally not offensive at all!

And that's a different beast than saying "Americans are dumb animals." One of those statements is a vanilla generality with pretty clear support. The other is an expression of national animus betraying nasty bigotry.

It's the implication that Americans are any worse about such than any other nationality, that is unfounded and offensive.

Let's face it: you have not undertaken the sort of wide-ranging research and experience that would be required to characterize the predominant attitudes towards media, and its relation to worldview and inference, of America as a whole. Nor any other country, likely. And you never will. So when you issue such insults, all you're trafficking in is bigotry and prejudice.

Your right 'My research on american opinions is not an in-depth study I am bigoted towards my opinion it seems because no matter how I think about the topic I stil can't get past the point of thinking that most americans seem ike sheep to me, Go figure.

Question, Do you want to be trolled? it comes across like you want me to trol you now or that your asking to be trolled. Maybe you have a fetish for it? or you like to argue semantics. Either way I won't be giving you more ammo you are the type of person who is most troublesome because you can troll people in such a way that ony the trained eye can see through your smokescreen of bollocks.

You could almost hear pants being crapped in Pakistan when Obama went on TV last night...

Why would Osama not have an escape plan? At least a tunnel to another house with a getaway car. Did they just think they would hide behind the walls with guns? Or did he want to die?

I'm not sure how it is in Australia but in India and Pakistan there is duty imposed on medical equipment so it needs to be cleared especially if it is privately bought. Pakistan only just abolished the tariff for kidney dialysis equipment back in 2006. Still I am sure there are vays to get around this stuff [we are still paying in India]

Your right 'My research on american opinions is not an in-depth study

It isn't any kind of "research."

The thing about being a bigot, is that bigots are very good at coming up with defense mechanisms for their bigotry. That is, they are able to nicely avoid questioning the bigotry, and instead find a way to use any bit of information to reinforce it. Once a bigot is "set" in this way, further contact with the object of his bigotry only works to reinforce such. So no matter how many Americans you've interacted with (and I'd wager that such isn't even a statistically significant sample to begin with), you never reach a point where your experience is trustworthy. Because it only occurs through the filter of the prejudice. The experience isn't adding anything, just being assimilated into the fixed agenda.

If simple time and experience cured all bigotry, we wouldn't have many bigots, and none over maybe 30 years of age.

I am bigoted towards my opinion it seems because no matter how I think about the topic I stil can't get past the point of thinking that most americans seem ike sheep to me,

Well, yeah: that's exactly bigotry. You can't manage to think about them any other way, even when you try.

If your aim was to fit the word Bigot into your post as many times as possible Kudos to you, see this is the difference between me and a troll, a Troll would continue debating semantics with you to score brownie points for another 15 pages, where I wil now ignore you and say.

Adios.

haha.... :D

It's good we got him.

I do worry about American adventurism though. Have we opened Pandora's Box?

I do admit a need for synonyms when operating around here.

Actually that is also a classic troll maneuver.

Jingo Liberal

The Ed Show is on MSNBC as I write this. I've really, really tried to appreciate Ed Schultz, and I'm sure he's a nice enough guy. But how is it that MSNBC could be worried in any way about Keith Olbermann's political participation when they've got this guy on the roster?

Christ on a dildo, listening to Ed gush about Obama is the kind of thing that makes me think he belongs on FOX News as their token liberal.

What I like about the better hosts on MSNBC is the mix of information and commentary. Ed is pure ego, and if anyone wants to see what jingoism on the liberal side of the aisle looks and sounds like, I can't think of a better place to look than The Ed Show. Especially tonight's version.

It's ... just ... awful.

There's also some requirement that people entering the country declare such and apply for a visa, etc. So, since OBL ended up in Pakistan, we can assume one of two things: they're good enough at smuggling to get the world's most-wanted fugitive into the country undetected (in which case, a home dialysis machine should be no problem) or he was there with Pakistan's knowledge and approval (in which case, again, getting a home dialysis machine seems not to present any difficulty).
