Moderator bias

I, personally, feel I have been unfairly treated by the following moderator(s):

'Tis true that we tend to be more patient with members who don't go out of their way to give us headaches. One-times or rare offenders do, in fact, deserve greater leeway than serial offenders. Were we to be ironclad in our applications of the rules, there would be no serial offenders, no rare offenders, and very few one-time offenders as there would be very few members left.

If I killed all the chickens, would there be any point to guarding the henhouse?

I think alot of the Mods here are great. I am just expressing my opinion
about one in particular. I thought that was the purpose of this thread.

I am very calm. How did I sound hostile? Sorry I did not
say it exactly how you think I should have. Do I care?
I think you know the answer.

Shorty

thank you for your response.

It is disappointing that we can not have a constructive discussion on you implied accusations.

Your opinion is noted, and in its proper context, as well.

Got a perfect example of moderator bias. This landed in my PM box yesterday. I will remind you all that I got three infractions for that thread in question and that my forum has nothing to do with sciforums since discussing sciforums is highly frowned upon on the other forum.

My answer follows below

I reject your paranoid accusations and shameless character assassination.

Please never contact me again, unless it is with a sincere apology. And maybe not even then.

spuriousmonkey

I got a warning from Plazma and an infraction from James from the same thread. There were others who recieved warnings/infractions as well.
And even though both the warning and the infraction were well worth it. James and Plazma were within their rights (given what I said in that thread) to administer them. I got over it. You should too.

Sam,

Why did you wait until this thread got to 8 pages before you reported it? Or were you speaking of some specific topic that you are reporting?

It's not like I was born clever. So practice, practice, practice, Leopold, and someday you just might be.

 :D

Buy a lotta dope and smoke the crap out of it.

With most of the Bozotskies 'round this place, if you can prattle on for more than a few sentences - especially with the whack-assed "cognitive non-sequiturs" the ol' green stuff lays on your cranial lard-lump - you suddenly seem all deep and full of rich, lush meaning...
:D

I have no problem with the infractions. Most people got that.

The saga continues. Despite my clear message not to be contacted in any form by the offending member of the administration team he fuels the fire by continuing the threat.

Hello spuriousmonkey,

I would have assumed it would not be necessary to explain the concept of private messaging to a person who holds a PhD. But since you seem to be lacking a moral compass in such matters, I inform you now that it is the height of rudeness to post private communications to a public forum without the consent of the author. Please consider this in your future dealings with other forum members.

I reject your paranoid accusations and shameless character assassination.

I made no accusations, paranoid or otherwise. Moreover, there is no need for me to attempt to assassinate your character. You do a quite competent job of that without external assistance.

Please never contact me again, unless it is with a sincere apology. And maybe not even then.

As per your request, I will not contact you again by PM. This current PM is sent as a courtesy to remind you that if your receive an infraction you will be automatically sent a PM; that is part of the system of moderation we have in place here. By continuing to post here you accept the existence of that system.

As an administrator of sciforums, it may become necessary to comment on your activities on sciforums in a public manner in future. Such comments will not be addressed to you, but may concern you. You cannot expect one rule for you and one rule for other members of sciforums, and you will not be given special consideration.

If it becomes necessary to ban you, that will happen without further discussion with you.

Let's hope you grow up eventually.

Not quite an apology so I assume you realized when you wrote this crap that I will not stand for this kind of harassing. In the words of fraggle: 'Exposure to sunlight is the best disinfectant'.

Honestly, when I mean do not contact me it certainly does not mean send me another PM immediately. I do not respect PMs from people with no decency. I guard PMs from people I respect with my life (except SAM's).

You cannot expect one rule for you and one rule for other members of sciforums, and you will not be given special consideration.

So if you want to be a member here, obey the rules.

You had two three day bans? Someone (probably me) slipped up, its 3 days, 7 days, 15 days, 30 days permaban.

Though the permaban can be given at any time, if considered best.

Thanks for the reminder ;)

Seriously though, sometimes moderator decisions are overridden by supermods and admins who have more experience

I remember what I said. If it gets to 7 days, I don't come back. Just in case that does happen, and people are wondering a few years down the track where I went.

Yeah, but then I'll just go to 'The Forum which Cannot be Named'. So you don't win ;)

What's that old saying? "When you drive rats out, they go somewhere else."
