why?
nothingness? prove that exists.
why?
'Nothing' doesn't seem to be able to exist, for there is field everywhere, plus 'nothing' is nonexistence, the lack of anything. If this lack—'nothing'—ever 'was', and it was a stable situation, then there would still be a lack of anything.
Now, with all that said, 'nothing' must still be the cause of all, because, like it or not, there is literally nothing to make anything of. As support for this, we also see a balance of opposite particles, charges, and matter/antimatter states, plus vacuum fluctuations. 'Nothing' is, apparently, a perfectly unstable situation or state.
Not everyone is very susceptible to the paranoia that is (at least) partly responsible for the religious beliefs of some religious people.
what paranoia?
I wouldn't say paranoia (because that requires actual knowledge of a threat...) but rather: fear.
fear of what? god?
lol
No, of course not. The god concept acts as a child's favourite blankie: it comforts.
To answer your question directly: death in particular, the unknown in general.
god however, in my experience, and as described in the bible, would make a better hammer, than a blankie.
hm. i'm a christian and i am not afraid of death, or of the unknown, only because i have been taught to love myself, and to be fearless, by god personally. i trust it.
Well, for one, the god described in the Christian bible is hardly relevant; it's a book, written by men. Regardless, all deities are looked upon as a father figure: a source of comfort, concern, care, and occasionally anger....
Not at all. You've been deluded into thinking that you don't fear death. Your body of course, knows better, and will always react as it is engineered to do: to identify, respect, and avoid death.
it's relevant to me. that book is practically the story of my life, and only because of what i've lived through. the father i know is the creator and/or the law. i don't see human attributes in that when i look at the universe as a whole and how it all works. the holy spirit however is a counselor. jesus is of course, your buddy. he can't help it. he loves people like i do. and because of that, we would sacrifice it all, even our own lives, to eliminate the wages of sin. the law isn't changing, but we are, and now it's really just a matter of knowing who's side you're on. i know, and because of that i'm not afraid of anything.
really? tell that to jesus. people commit suicide every day. people all throughout history have been tortured and killed over keeping a secret, patriotism, a belief in god, or other people's safety. some people risk their lives every day for their job.
All totally and utterly irrelevant.
What your personal experience has been has no bearing whatsoever on the reality of the situation.
This doesn't even remotely address my material you quoted.
You do fear death. Period.
You cannot not fear death. Period.
Your mind however, can convince you of many things.
You have chosen to fool yourself...
personal experience has no bearing on reality? really, well then wtf does exactly?
you posted some fight or flight bullshit, when even mere animals, like the ones we have dominion over, defy those instincts for a good cause. an intellectual one and a conscious decision based on something they believe in and value more than their own life.
Reality.
Feel free to make a point...
Excuse me? Are you familiar with solipsism?= experience.
= experience.
you're oblivious.
And there's no source of experience????
hmmmmm
????
Ah, there it is, the typical theist 'defense' when confronted with actual reason and logic...
How....
oh.. what's the word....
childish???
hmmmm
Time for your blankie methinks...
