I'd say no, It's like pressuring your son to have sex. Regardless of whether he wants it or not.
If he wanted it, You're encouraging cheap sex, and discouraging him from forming deep relationships. Sure, Porn does that too, but doesn't have the same effect.
If he didn't want it, You're pressuring him into a tense and sexual situation, that he isn't prepared for.
Either way, You're harming his future. But I know parents have done worse.
w1zard: I agree, It always seemed a bit off, that we legalize porn,but not prostitution, and while your argument is about a different form of hypocrisy, It's all related.
Unless your daughter looks like a wildebeast, a girl isn't going to have NEAR as much problem getting laid as a guy does.
You cannot directly compare each sex/gender in this situtation.

Let me let you in on a little secret, most all men, at one time or another (especially in their younger years) enjoys and appreciates some no-strings-attached sex in their lives.

People like to fuck. Simple as that. You legalize prostitution, people will find away around it.
Society will finally manage to eradicate prostitution right about the same time they totally get rid of drugs (which will be NEVER).

I am a guy, and most of my friends would probably antagonize about it afterwards, and feel incredibly awkward before and during it. The prostitute would have to be a real pro at making them feel at ease. So, I guess, sure, prostitution is fine, but make it a good one.
An 18 year old boy, would be old enough to comphrehend the difference between cheap sex, and meaningful sex. Those that don't probably don't even know what no strings attached means. I'm saying give males some credit for not being total sex hounds. And to me, having your father present it to you is just plain weird. Hell, being 17, I'd rather have Friends with Benefits.
People know that before they even have sex.
Did anyone ever see that episode of Firefly where this situation occurred? Luckily Inara is a real pro.
Reminds me of the 'just say no' abstinence education. I think most people would agree that they would love to be 'pressured' into doing things they wanted to do already
I believe those points are worth much more consideration. As someone whose first sexual intercourse was with a prostitute (no, my father didn't buy her services for me or have anything to do with it, the whole thing wasn't actually planned for), I would have liked my first experience not to have been with a prostitute. However, I was 20 years old, had some physical health problems that I thought might end my life prematurely at the time and was thinking, will I die without ever having done it? So when an opportunity arose, after some hesitation, I took it. I don't regret the decision, but I do wish that it could have been with someone who I'd known for a while, not a 1 night stand. It took 10 years before I had sex with another woman, this time with a girlfriend. I figured that the first time, I wanted to try it out, but the next time I wanted it to be with someone who I felt wasn't doing it for the money.
Perhaps it does. I certainly see my fair share of pornography as well. However, I try to get the more genuine sexual expressions, not the 'acted out' stuff. This isn't to say that I don't think that having sexual relationships with people you know (and preferably know for a while) isn't preferable in many ways, but I find that that accomplishing this is easier said then done.

Funny, most of my guy friends (if they weren't currently in a relationship) would jump at that chance....and most of us are in our early/late 30s.
And given that most hookers are pros, I don't think not feeling at ease would even be an issue.
I don't know any guy who would find a present like that from their dad, weird.
Remember, you're not necessarily paying the hooker for sex so much as you are paying them to leave afterwards.
I'm wondering if your son didn't already have sex with a prostitute, ever ask him? I'd give him a few hundred bucks and tell him on his birthday or other special event to spend it any way he likes with a wink of the eye as I said it and the phone directory opened to "escort services" in your area.

Orly, every guy needs to get laid at least once in awhile. Most women just do not understand this one bit.

Mike you just need to find a woman with the same sex drive instead of lumping us all together. My husband and I have sex almost daily. That's because of things he does outside the bedroom.
