Evidence that God is real

What I'd like to know is this God of Israel spent 6 days creating all of this... so what has he been doing since?
I dedicated an entire thread to asking that question of the theists on sciforums. Most of them couldn't give an answer. A few of them essentially said that God needs to maintain constant concentration to keep the universe in existence, minute by minute. That might explain why he doesn't have time for much else, I guess.

Or he lives in a flat, smoking weed, gambling and watching the TV on and off some video games too, especially Civ 6.

Jan Ardena:

Can you present your objective evidence of your God's existence otherwise no one on here thinks he exists.

I think I'm in the minority?

Which one? The majority of people belong in some way to a minority.

Happiness is a human emotion and like all emotion should be regarded as illusionary at best but temporary which when gone leaves a desire for more and more happiness taking ones focus away from experiencing a stable mental state devoid of harmful mood swings.

If god meant for us to be happy we would not be born screaming.

Note also happiness is often associated with bad and destructive activities like eating for enjoyement rather than satisfying hunger or gaining nutrition, taking illicite drugs to generate illusionary feelings of well being, casual sex with multiple partners for the sake of gratification rather than procreation and also to the indulging in pride generating pursuits such as subscription to fashion and childish fads.

No, Happiness can be generally. Happiness can last for minutes/months/years. The important thing is you build your happiness on a solid foundation.

I call that version "amusement".

[\QUOTE ] I call that version "amusement".

Yes ...amusement...another negative time wasting activity that can dangerously intrude into productive pursuits.

Shouldnt happiness be avoided else one becomes addicted to its hopeless pursuit and the entrapment that will follow trying to maintain its false illusion.

No, what is the point of being alive if you do not strive for happiness? It may seem selfish at times, but it should be everyone's goal but obviously it isn't. I understand 100%, there's a word we use up the north in England, "miserable cunt", probably always existed, in fact i'd bet my arse on it.

If you are a theist the point is to serve god and follow his laws, if an atheist the point is to help theists get treatment for their sad condition..there is no time to indulge happiness.

So who is right the selfish or their opposite.

I think the term applies to folk who are no more than frugal. ..another admirable quality.

Stop getting dramatic Alex. The point of an atheist is to try and be as happy as possible, because you only live once.

So who is right the selfish or their opposite.

You can take the narrow path if you're hard enough, selfless as one can be.

Indeed, you are turning out to be quite a catch.

You can take the narrow path if you're hard enough, selfless as one can be.

There is only one path to follow and indeed it is narrow but also straight and I speak of the path to truth.

Happiness in the form of enlightenment awaits anyone who follows the straight and narrow path of thruth which is why the theist can never be happy or enlightened for they meander thoughtlessly down paths cut into superstition and confusion, by those who seek to hide the truth, eliminate reason and profit from religious lies.

I feel pity for the theist who must lie continually to themselves (and others and their family and friends) that they have not been brain washed, that they have not been deceived and that they are not indeed victims of a cruel hoax that robs them of their reason and of their money.

Their dishonesty presents far to often to be regarded as an exception and indeed their dishonesty presents with such monotonous regularity it can be indeed seen as the rule.

And we should not expect less because their lies are built upon lies that were built upon earlier lies such that when they are asked to support their very first lie that there is a god, they are unable to do so...all we have is lies and rather than call this conglomeration of falsehood a massive con they re lable it and call it "my faith" which is an instant qualification that what they have is devoid of evidence.

1) I don't know a faster typist, 2) you are a quality waffler like me, honour to meet you.

When I look at the world and I allow myself to look past all the madness and disorder and I see all the beauty and order that exists in between the chaos I often wonder if there is a God who is looking out for us who may one day come through for us but I just do not know. Why are there slaves in certain places in the world and people fighting, starving, getting sick, suffering, and dying? If there is a God I hope he comes through for us one day.

I don't know either, but the time to believe it is when there is evidence for it.

I think that's the goal of life, within reason. The goal of atheism is to deal with evidence based reality, whether it makes you happy or not. I personally wouldn't be happy lying to myself.
