Well, if you are certain your God loves you, but he's into tough love - and decides that killing your friends and family, and giving you cancer, will make you into a better person - then you might fear him acting on his love.
Jesus said that, not Jehovah.God must love at all times, compassion counts. The bible even says "love thy enemy." Its where he gets his pleasure from.
Salvation is the helmet according to the apostle Paul.Seems like we can survive a lot, put up with bunches, endure life's challenges.
You've said all you can really, don't start tying yourself into knots with word games. You be strong for her, show her your belief through your actions. My apologies, folks. I'm at present living with and providing care for a relative who is in her twilight years. There's a lot of fear there. She has religious affirmations hanging on the walls, says she believes in God, yet her fear is so intense that I want to take it away for her as if it were a curable cancer. If she believes God loves her, she has nothing to fear, which is the message I tried giving her, though I think she missed the point. She worries about her sins, but if she can forgive herself and others, how much greater is the forgiveness of a God? My point is, if you are loved by a God, love being God's armor, what is there to fear? Even death has no power over God's love. If you have faith in God's love, there is nothing to fear.
So do you think God loves you?God is about creation and love.
Religion is about using fear to control the faithful.
The problem is not the all loving and forgiving God; it is sanctimonious clerics who have historically promised redemption in exchange for confession and quite often cash.
Encourage her to embrace the concept of the all loving "I am that I am" that loved Moses even after he killed someone and ignore the fear mongering control freaks.
I might change your mind on thatI'm a faithful and I don't abuse democracy. Only Sith' deal in absolutes.
Not to me. But for a lot of people, tough love is a thing.Does that sound like love to you?
Most people fear things like cancer or the death of loved ones. If you don't, great.Would any of that matter if God loved you? Again, what would there be to fear?
Jesus said that, not Jehovah.
Do you want an answer?Who forbid good and evil and then watched it end?
Well, given that "evil" is still around (i.e. hasn't ended), I'm gonna have to go with "nobody".Who forbid good and evil and then watched it end?
Yes, love is no guarantee against suffering apparently. If you have the love of a God, is there anything to fear?
And here you are, talking about it. Perhaps God has faith in you?Yes, love is no guarantee against suffering apparently.
What if you are in pain, want to die but are unable to take your own life? And here you are, talking about it. Perhaps God has faith in you?
I don't know, Beer. You are asking me a "what if."What if you are in pain, want to die but are unable to take your own life?
