Corona Virus 2019-nCoV

The big corps got a huge bailout, now it’s time to get the working shlubs off of unemployment and back on the job! Some of them are making more than they would at their job. Can’t have them start to think that they could maybe stand to get paid a living wage by their employer.

Sooo, watched a bit of the news today - and is it safe to say that Trump thinks CV19 is over so the US needs to get back to work? If Trump says it’s over, it must be over! :rolleye:
one day someone will work out how many people have lost their lives and how much his enthusiasm has cost the country... but until then...

Researchers find new coronavirus strain 'more contagious', potentially impacting COVID-19 vaccine search
A group of leading international researchers has concluded the coronavirus behind the global pandemic has already mutated into a second strain, which appears to have spread faster and wider than the original one, potentially undermining efforts to create a vaccine.

fixed that for ya ;)

Yet again, I'm going to revise my remarks on the matter of "taking out" Trump.

Consider the following:
  • Trump has unambiguously declared himself a dictator with "total authority."
  • Trump has sided with domestic terrorists who occupy various state buildings whilst armed with heavy artillery.
  • He has encouraged states to reopen without achieving any of the criteria essential for safely reopening--namely, providing sufficient means for testing, tracing, and isolating.
  • And, all the while, new cases of COVID-19 are actually increasing with every passing day--and if you exclude the previous hot zones from these tallies--New York, California, New Orleans, etc.--they are increasing quite dramatically.
  • Likewise, daily death tolls are not declining; rather, they are increasing--again, rather dramatically--with the very models the White House uses anticipating upwards of 3000 deaths daily by 1 June, up from ~1750 daily deaths at present.
  • Even conservative models are projecting upwards of 140 or 150 thousand total deaths by August--and that's only from the first wave. This shall return in the fall, possibly more virulent, possibly less so, but...
  • And the icing on the cake: the whole point of the lockdown was to buy time for the federal government to ramp up testing, as well as testing for antibodies, means for contact tracing, and means for isolating the infected. All of this could easily have been accomplished via executive orders, instituting the Defense Production Act, and so forth. We--or rather, Trump--has done NONE of this.
  • Rather, Trump has invoked the DPA to ensure that concentration camps (factory farms) continue to operate in full force. Potential risks inherent be damned.

In short, Trump is a dictator who is willingly and knowingly sentencing his own constituents to death. Unfortunately, and somewhat (morbidly) comically, the people most sensitive to these preposterous government overreaches and egregious Constitutional violations are overwhelmingly... wait for it... Trump's base supporters.

So, previously I stated that this is a Rubicon moment. By many a Constitutional reading, it is now, unambiguously, either one's right or one's duty to stop Trump in his tracks by whatever means possible. If you can do so without having to put a bullet in his head, by all means, do so. Just infect the guy with the coronavirus--he's grotesquely obese and in exceptionally poor health, infecting him will likely yield the desired result. Or be creative. Come up with some other ingenious means for killing the fat rapist fuck.

Either way, to quote the late, great Patrick McGoohan, "Just do it!" It may be the only way to preserve the Republic, and to keep the ultimate death toll at least somewhat below several hundred thousand.

If it is any consolation, Russia appears to be in the same boat. Media has stated 3 doctors jumped out of windows for reasons yet to be explained. 2 dead, one with major injuries. The health system is totally inadequate and due to Putin's underestimation of the virus the situation appears to be dire in Russia.

Of course Trump and Putin have a well known relationship, both sharing various "power" ideals, like wise with the president of Brazil ( and other alt right fascist nations) whose nation is totally being overwhelmed by this curse. In fact the situation in Brazil is evolving so quickly that it may soon surpass the USA in terms of catastrophic outcomes.

So it appears in general Fascist type governments have all chronically underestimated the human and economic cost of this pandemic and really have no idea how to get out of the mess their personality driven governance of the nations generates.

At least in the UK ( Boris J. being another pal of Trumps) while slow to get their act together, have manage to contain it somewhat. ( have admitted their folly and are moving on)

once the support base realizes the ultimate betrayal of them by Trump, all hell will break loose. IMO

By November cases will be starting to die down and Trump will take credit for the decrease - and a lot of Americans will believe him.
If the USA has to wait till November-ish to see containment and then fight to reduce, the economic cost will be enormous...
Australian Treasury indicates the cost to Australia at about 4 Billion every week, which amounts to about 208 Billion per year. We have a population of about 25million. Our situation is relatively contained.
The USA has a population of about 350 million ( 14 times Australia ) Un-contained.
7 months to November...
I think Trump may have a problem....getting re-elected

Indeed , to your last statement .

He is oblivious to the repercussions of his economics before deaths .

like most authoritative leaders he is focused more on profits than costs. The cost of doing business in the USA while the virus remains un-contained, hidden and in your face are increasing daily...

And it is not just Trump , it is wall street as well .

Trump and Wall street do the tango , together .

They will black mark capitalism .

Where capitalism should not be the enemy . But lead to a future full of exciting possibilities , no matter your economic situation , or ethnicity .

And Wall Street reflects the deluded optimism of Trump and will collapse as reality bites. IMO
Speculative fairy floss value + speculative fairy floss solutions to COVID -19 = ?
Ask the NYC governor Cuomo about fairy floss... (Rhetorical)
