Corona Virus 2019-nCoV

Lets hope that this virus , if nothing else helps us to evolve towards each other . Beyond religion .

Unfortunately religion breeds the "us and them" mentality which is never going to work so your comment "beyond religion" is profound. Imagine a world without religious judging and prejudice where children are raised to be thinkers and contribute to all of society, where women are treated as equals and not mere property of their husbands, where genital mutilation was not ingrained as a religious practice... yes beyond religion one can only dream of the beautiful world that will result...where we are part of the world rather than believing it was given to us by god to abuse in any manner we choose. Imagine respecting all living creatures and not eating them to extinction. Imagine no wars.

The people who recovered from covid19, what is special with their body?

We don't know what makes their immune system strong enough to fight it off .

But part of the research is to look at the anti-bodies of those that have survived and hopefully create a vaccine .

Put me in charge and I will solve all the problems by only putting in an hour a day.
Of course money will fix the problem...shelters, mental illness homes, make drugs legal and given out by doctors who sole job is to give out drugs.

It's an easy boost but a difficult problem. Starvation isn't really a problem in the U.S. and in areas where there is a natural disaster money hasn't proven to be the solution.

Coronavirus cases in Australia rise by fewer than 30 in past 24 hours

Good news. Australia definitely seems to be on the downward slope of the curve.

But don't get cocky. Your problems originally started with fewer than 30 cases. It can flare up again if you let your guard down.

I guess that you can do like the US is proposing to do and slowly and carefully release the kind of restrictions that kill the economy, while carefully watching to see if there are any flareups. Put tighter lockdowns in place if there are, but continue relaxing if there aren't. Do it on a regional basis (I'd wager that not all parts of Australia are hit equally hard) and don't release all social distancing immediately. Step by step.

Sooo, Georgia’s governor wants to reopen his economy starting this Friday. Bowling alleys, nail salons and barber shops are going to reopen.

Yea, that’s a great idea. Open up businesses where people are in close proximity as part of their job description and they likely don’t have health insurance. So, they will feel like they have to go to work now, even if they’re sick.

This is Trump’s fault - too many mixed messages and he started goading some states to protest the stay at home orders, of all things. I wish ...just for one day, Trump would act like the President of the United States.

I think it's too early to open up in most places but I like the idea of thinking about how you could widen the businesses that could be opened but not the ones that everyone is talking about...getting your haircut, etc.

Some people might think it's more important to get a haircut than to open up the local garden center but that's not the point. You can't stay away from people if you are cutting their hair.

People are home with nothing to do. They could go to a garden center, buy a few plants to come home and plant (as an example). You can have spacing by the cashier just like in the grocery store. You could limit the number of people in the garden center at any one time.

I'm sure there are other businesses out there like that when it is time to open things up a bit more if for no other reason than to limit the economic suffering of many lower paid employees and to reduce the sense of panic in the population as a whole. There is going to be a heavy price to pay by completely shutting down the economy for too long.

There are some states with relatively low numbers of people with the virus. Of course those numbers can increase rapidly but they don't have to if the businesses that open up initially are low contact and low density businesses....and that's not bars, restaurants and hair salons.

If the open on Friday, we should see a COVID result after 5 days or so...I do hope it's not a tragedy.

Our PM says current repro. rate is at 0.22

Exactly, Seattle ^

I just don’t think these governors get it.
It's crazy that they have managed to turn this into a political issue as well, divided along party lines.

You have Republican governors talking about opening businesses too soon and the Democratic mayors in those same states (the largest cities) are saying "no".

Trump wants states to re-open so that he can get reelected so Republican governors are doing what he wants.
