Corona Virus 2019-nCoV

According to ourworldindata.org ,
As of the 14th of May 2021,
Close to 347 million people globally have received their first shot of vaccine. A large percentage have received their second shot..

It is worth noting, with some relief that there has been no reports of serious (fatal or close) mass side effect cases.

Given the speed at which these vaccines were developed and tested I find this to be quite remarkable and a testimony to the skills of the vaccine specialists.

UK about to go open season with Indian variant of concern in population with only 30% vaccinated

https://news.sky.com/story/indian-v...-jabbed-but-confidence-vaccines-work-12307777

shall be interesting to see how this develops

also vaccine resistance in what appears to be Indian communities(i have not read far enough in to see what ethnic groups they are but reading between the lines it appears to be an issue of groups of anti-vaxers

i would think they would want to vaccinate at-least 70% before unlocking and have NO Indian variants testing positive.

my feeling far too soon with these indian variants and anti vaxers
anti vaxers are probably indian variants and avoiding testing
i expect there is a lot of anti vaxers in conservative church groups and muslims & african muslims

the younger anti vaxer radicals will be out there running a muck for sure
that's a hard group to control
that will comprise of a large amount of behaviorally anarchist/adversarial anti-establishment youth & anarchist illegal immigrants who will all be seeking to spread the virus actively and as much as possible.
all the conservative american church groups will all be anti vaxxers
thats my general pinion.

sad news to see modi being opposed
i think he was their chance to move the massive most populous poorest nation into a more sustainable reality wit reforms
i expect lock downs will be abandoned if he looses and the country economic system will slide back into the black market unsustainable non productive version he was trying to drag kicking and screaming out of the gutter for the last few years.

modi had fantastic international relations
who ever replaces him will take years to re gain those assuming they have any skill to do so
which i doubt
i think they will spend all their time concentrating on building their own local power systems and setting themself up for pay days instead of pushing and leading the country.

its going to be an even bigger mess i suspect

I assume you are referring to the recent positive tests of vaccinated baseball players. Thankfully they are very mild cases.
That's due to the vaccine.
The vaccine does nor necessarily stop you from infection, it stops the virus from making you sick.

Here is a formal CDC advisory (pdf) for people considering vaccination;

Understanding How Vaccines Work
Vaccines prevent diseases that can be dangerous, or even deadly. Vaccines greatly reduce the risk of infection by working with the body’s natural defenses to safely develop immunity to disease. This fact sheet explains how the body fights infection and how vaccines work to protect people by producing immunity.

it is startling to consider how many cell phone & computer uses who use Microsoft office desk top & such like systems who simply do not understand that being vaccinated will not stop you from contracting and spreading Covid19

app savvy but science dumb ?
or science lazy ?
or what ?

i realize there is a lot of people who cant mentally cope with such levels of information
and so will actively deny learning to feel they are emotionally protecting themselves

i was professionally observing for a fire drill 400 person/staff multi level building evacuation test & rating
(staff were not advised it was a test, it could have been bomb fire chemical/biological attack etc etc)

1 guy stopped at an exit and picked up a mail parcel package and started reading it to see if it was his mail then started visually scanning other packets which blocked one of the lines of people exiting
there was roughly 50 people behind him & he was blocking around half of them from exiting under full building evacuation alarms
(not too surprising this guy had an external ego issue that you cold feel in everything he did, like he had his pants down and was holding his dick while he talked to people saying "i can do this if i want & you cant stop me"[serious developmental problem])

i wanted to punch him in the face

nice company with some really amazing people who anyone would brag to be friends or colleges with, i had a word in the ear of an upper management person & he got partially demoted for 2 months and then found another job a couple of months after that.
no room in good companys for people like that unless they can make drastic personal changes

contractually they could have fired him on the spot & contested his period of notice and any bonuses
but that's not how good business is run (unless it's sexual abuse or violence)

there will always be at least 1 anti-vaxer in a company
but that's a big difference between personal beliefs

and
creating propaganda & recruiting against science and public health.

How many people have died from being vaccinated or from Covid after they were vaccinated?

And how many have died from from Covid from not being vaccinated?

Do the math!

anti-vaxer propoganda
versus
sound science vaccine types
and "clinical-field-trial political-leadership"

which political leaders are promoting and supporting vaccine field trials ?(& lock-downs[?])

so they were not worried before this point?

you mean they are worried for themselves because
before they didn't worry about others
AND
they still don't worry about others
but
now thy worry about themselves and so start talking about worrying about being part of the "others" which is 100% selfishness & lies ...

uh huh
tell me more

Indian variant cases in 86 council areas

There are now 86 local authorities with five or more confirmed cases of the Indian Covid variant, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said.

"This isn't just about Bolton and Blackburn," he said, referring to the areas seeing a spike in cases.

It comes as millions of people can now enjoy new freedoms as lockdown is eased in England, Wales and most of Scotland.

But the government has warned its next review of social distancing rules may be delayed.

No 10 said the Indian variant "could pose a threat" to the process of deciding whether all remaining lockdown restrictions could be eased on 21 June.

Mr Hancock told the House of Commons there were now 2,323 confirmed cases of the Indian variant in the UK.

This means there has been a 77% increase in confirmed cases of the variant over the last five days.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This seems concerning if people spread the new variant widely while being vaccinated and assuming they will be safe from the new variant giving it a chance to incubate and evolve.
yes...a sense of false confidence may be more damaging than more realistic approach.
I am sure they also realise that this variant that has taken only a month or so to appear from India may not be the last variant to appear before this is all over (if ever).
The longer India has low control over this bug the greater the likelihood of other variants emerging...
NO !
such spread of information may INCREASE spread of the new Indian variant
it is already spreading
i would recommend locking down the entire regions where the new variant is, increase testing and continue vaccinations
hard borders no entry no exit for 4 weeks
(you need that long to intercept boundary breakers and isolate them & lock them up if required)
assisted by the military
the risk to the vaccine is too great to allow the new Indian variant to get out and evolve and then undermine all those vaccinated resulting in a crippling 3rd wave with a much higher injury rate potential.
my free advice as always & likely my last ever comment on covid
So no aid workers allowed in? No delivery vehicles for vaccines, food, clothing and shelters? You just sort of "pass them over the wall" at the border? No researchers allowed in to gather samples, no researchers allowed out to take them to other labs?
Unless you are willing to hard-quarantine the entire area and let them die of starvation, that's not going to work.
so you are saying UK essential workers are deliberately spreading covid & not following hygiene health department rules ?
are they all foreigners working on working visa's for minimum wage ?
Nope. I have no idea where you got that. Another strawman?
lol
you want to weight the dice and play your game
thanks but no thanks
in real news (not some tilted attempt to swing the conversation into extremes to service your own political extremism)
India's holiest river, the Ganges, has been swollen with bodies in recent days.
Hundreds of corpses have been found floating in the river or buried in the sand of its banks. Those who live close to where they have washed up, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, fear they are Covid-19 victims.
Nope.
I stand by my statement. If you lock down the borders, no entry or exit, a lot more people will die than otherwise would. It's a terrible idea. You can spin that any way you like; doesn't change the fact that it's a bad idea.
so its best to promote no lockdowns because lock downs are socialist and anti republican party ?
and liberty is best
and any type of state control is possibly bad news because you dont want the state taking credit where you want private industry to take cash ?
so you extremafy my comment to suggest something that is impossible to try and gaslight me
into your pre defined political agenda ...
yawn !
you dont want lock downs to work because that gives the government power
and you want private industry to have power over politics
so your willing to let some people die
at their expense for your political agenda(when you dont need to)
(nice person?)
you see i see right through you
and called your game
but you go right ahead and prove me wrong
and prove how lock downs will kill more rich people than save working class
and your fanatical bent blah blah
Again, no. That is your strawman. You cannot generate a valid rebuttal to my comment, so you just make something up and argue against that instead. It's a lazy, dishonest way to try to "win" an argument.
