Congratulations America - you got the president you deserve

It's already happening. Morning Joe and Mika are absolutely so terrified of the retribution promised to them by Trump, they flew down to Mara Lago and kissed the ring. Immediately, MSNBC and CNBC were put on the chopping block up for sale by Comcast, as the CEO does not want to deal with the retribution. These people are cowards and shouldn't be journalists. They've lost all credibility.
According to what I read about this, the plan is to spin off MSNBC and CNBC and other cable channels into a separate subsidiary, not to sell them. That looks to me more like an attempt to ring-fence the "risky" assets in case Trump tries to bankrupt them with lawfare, and shield the rest of Comcast, but not a disinvestment. Or have I got that wrong?

Seems a more reasonable choice, in terms of relevant experience, at least. Perhaps, even though a Trumpie, she will feel the need to maintain some degree of professionalism and maybe won't corrupt the justice system quite as badly as that pervy sex maniac would have done.
I have a feeling Trump is playing 3d chess.
Pam Bondi was always going to be his choice.
I think Gates was a decoy to fish out the stabbers in the backers

Yet even she is not without some baggage:
Apparently CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) discovered in 2016 that the Trump Foundation gave an illegal 25k donation to her re-election campaign. (1) The Trump Foundation was a charitable foundation, so can't donate to political campaigns. (2) Bondi was, at the time, considering, as Florida AG, whether to take legal action against Trump University for fraud (she would have had Florida join the ongoing NY case against the university that eventually was settled for USD 25 million or so). And guess what? She didn't.

But I guess that's barely a ripple compared the allegations against others he has nominated.

You peeps can’t stop talking or thinking about the Donald.
He lives rent free in your head.
And there’s nothing you can do about it.
This thread is about Trump. Hence posts will be about Trump.
Therefore I've reported that post as an example of your trolling, something you don't seem to want to stop.

You’re just showing your real character Sarkus.
Of course it doesn’t matter to you that the post was specifically a targeted response to a post which was a poke at me.
Your problem is your narcissism. I think you felt I didn’t give any respect to your post, and you threw lil-toys out of the pram and decided to to start the ball rolling to get me banned.
Your action is basically a reflection of the shit show we have experienced over the past 8 years. I bet you still don’t know the real underlying reason why the citizens of the US overwhelmingly voted for the Donald.
Get out of the bubble and enjoy the real taste of Freedom.

I have no issue with the target, just the content of the post. Complaining about people talking about Trump... in a thread about Trump? Really?

My narcissism? No. But it's true that I don't think you respected my post. Nor, for that matter, anyone else's. Or this thread. And looking at the broarder picture, this site. I'm not looking to get you banned, I'm simply looking for you to address your behaviour, and the manner of your posts: i.e. quit the trolling. Playing the victim does you no good.

Get out of the bubble and enjoy the real taste of Freedom.
"Real taste of Freedom"? In the latest Freedom House rankings (here: https://freedomhouse.org/countries/freedom-world/scores?sort=desc&order=Total Score and Status), the US scores 83/100. It is ranked 59/210 countries.
Finland ranks at 100/100. The UK, where I live, ranks 91/100.

The rankings by the World Population Review website has, for "personal freedoms", the US at 8.57 compared to, say, UK at 8.66, Latvia at 8.98, all the way up to Sweden at 9.43. Even on "human freedom" the US equal with the UK but below the likes of Taiwan, Scandinavian countries, NZ, Switzerland etc.

Heck, even the Heritage Foundation only puts the US at 70.1/100 for Economic rights, behind much of Europe, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Chile etc.

So how are you determining the "real taste of Freedom"? The right to own guns? Sure, we in the UK have the right to own guns. We do limit that right so as not to include people with criminal records, the insane, and also to the type of weapon, but that is to protect the rights of the general public not to get shot or massacred. How about you in the US?

But rather than address issues with anything resembling an actual argument, you simply disparage and appeal to other ad hominems. You are, in every way that matters, a troll.

No, the US is not the epitome of "freedom" that it thinks it is. You may call yourself "the land of the free", but in reality you're not actually as free as all that. Better than Russia, sure. Better than North Korea, definitely. Better than China? Sure. Than other Western democracies, however? Maybe it's you who needs to get out of your bubble?

Sure…
Every other post in here is respectable.
You’re so deluded.

Your post was either off topic gobeldigook, or lefty propaganda talking points. Which doesn’t require long posts to defeat.
Like I said you don’t even understand why your political persuasion got the beating it so deserved. You need to reestablish your common sense. Then maybe we can have a meaningful discussion.

They call it a sale, but it does look more like a spin off. Mark Lazarus was installed to be the new CEO of "SpinCo."

Trump is everywhere, you can't get away from it. We were hoping he would lose the election and then we can forget about him or watch as he eventually goes to prison for his many crimes.

Trump doesn't know how to play checkers let alone knowing how to play chess. His decisions are not well thought out, he is as impulsive as he is stupid.

As a former member of a Trump legal team in the 2019 impeachment, she has a gross conflict of interest serving at the DOJ, an agency that is supposed to be in its actions independent of the White House. At least, that has been the prosecutorial norm that evolved over two centuries, even if DOJ Independence is not explicitly mandated in our Constitution. So, she is only reasonable when compared to Humbert Humbert.

From what I've read I don't think it's going to be a subsidiary but rather an associated company, one that is initially owned by the same shareholders but has no shared corporate parentage. It will also be a publicly traded company, so shareholders will be able to sell shares in one and retain shares in the other etc. Comcast may look to retain a shareholding, though, but that might defeat the object of what they're trying to do. I may be wrong, though, but that's my understanding.

As for Trump trying to bankrupt them with lawfare, and Bannon has certainly advised them to "lawyer up", it's a touch late if the suits relate to what has already been broadcast, as they'll simply add Comcast to the suit. And since they were part of Comcast at the time, Comcast would be liable for any penalties, should there be any.
