Are You Living in a Computer Simulation?

I must ask, if this simulation is so perfect to be undetectable, what difference does it make if its real or not? [since its almost the same as reality]. I think logical positivism demands we disreguard this question if its no different than reality.

It is true. They are indistinguishable unless the real universe doesn't have particles. But any universe with particles will work the same way. Oh there is another possible difference. We may have a different evolutionary stage. So for example we may have better sight, and hearing. Maybe a higher level of intelligence.

Yes, it may be possible. But if there is no way to know, it may as well not be true. It wouldnt matter, it wouldnt have any real impliciation.

It would mean something to me. :D
It would mean that I figured it out. :D
I mean, I know how to write the program now. So I could have wrote my own program, and that would blow my mind. Damn, why didn't I put a backdoor in it!

If this is a simulator, and if its based on my computer program, then I solved death last night. I know what happens when you die. It's not a bad thing, but it does depend on how you lived your life on Earth. So be good people. I think it's very likely that I'm right, because it would have been my idea in the first place. A sort of paradox for everyone apart from me.. because whatever I think will happen is likely to be read by someone, and built in our future. So I can for example say... "When you wake up the nurse will say to you... Welcome to the afterlife." Now.. because I posted it, it will happen.

You might need to think about that for a long time. :D

O.K., I took this original post to be a question! As for myself, the answer would be; No, I am not living in a computer simulation! However - since following this thread, and reading the numerous posts - I have been led to believe that once again, my lack of intelligence has allowed the virtual quantum wool to pulled over my eyes!! Ergo, I seem to have no choice but to pray to the Lord "Ohm Might He" grant us all the Second coming of the Great E.M.P.!! Seriously though - JUST QUIT IT!! I was getting along just great being the dumbest man on earth and I never thought anyone would care to take that title away from me!!!!

Don't worry, they won't! :D

Cool!! It is comforting to know my place in the greater scheme of things. Seriously though, are we living in a computer simulation? I know I'm DUMB and probably more than a little foolish, but should I be worried about a power outage, virus, malware or someone spilling coffee on a keyboard or something like that? Even being as dumb as i am (obviously!!), I have learned to accept help from the really smart people that I've met and would like to feel comfortable knowing that a computer glitch somewhere out there would not have me waking up tomorrow an old Bic pen, a stripped lug nut or a mosquito or something like that. You have a lot of posts, so maybe you could help me make some sense of this. Only a couple billion other things scare the HECK out of me on daily basis (I live in United States), but one less would be weight off of my shoulders! Hope you will not mind helping one of us little people out! Oh, and Oh Yeah - Happy Holidays, also!!!

You wouldn't know if the power went off, because the power went off. :D

I think that this universe can be simulated, and if it can there would be one for everyone. Being as one for everyone adds up to more than this single one, then there is more chance of you being in a simulator. That's a kind of joke.. but being as this one is timed to all of the first appearances of the finest technology in history then it seems more like a history lesson to me. 1st computer etc.. they only happen once. Ending with me figuring out how to build a universe.. it just isn't likely. It's fun though! :D

Okay, I am still lost! #1. Would I know if the power then came back on?
#2. So, universe can only be simulated once?
#3. Really lost me on the "there would be one for everyone" part. What "kind" of joke was it.
#4. If only simulated once - How could everyone have their own?
Maybe I should just go back to trying to figure out : Why do people Park in Driveways, but Drive on Parkways?
I've heard rap songs say "Pimpin' ain't Easy!" I don't know about that, but this thinking stuff sure ain't no walk in the park!

logic alone could not come up with quantum uncertainty or quantum entangement

this only came about through knowledge , experiment

computers are based on logic

what happens when the logic is flawed ? what is the result ?

The logic is unable to flaw it is in fact the reason why the Universe self builds. It builds because there is a flaw in nothingness. You can program the same rules. There are not many.
