Are scientists always trustworthy? Should we believe everything they say?

I do hate spoiling everyone's party and talking about the topic, but nevertheless:
In this case, the studies aren't numerous or definitive enough to force a government to take action. But if mobile phones were definitively shown to be dangerous by slightly increasing ones chances of getting a brain tumour, the fact is that those scientific results would be by and large ignored, not by governments, not by big business, but by the people who damn well won't give up their phones. As they won't give up their cigarettes (at least, I won't), their burgers and their cheap gasolene.
By the way, did I misunderstand the topic title? I thought the one about scientists lying was where the study about women being different to men was suppressed by "Nature" or something. This story is about scientists finding something out that nobody wants to hear, and not casting doubt on the word of the scientists.
Too many conspiracy theories attribute bad things to the determination of global coporations to make profits at all costs. Of course, they do want to make profits.
