Absolutely Nothing: Atheists on What They Know About What They Pretend to Discuss

A little known fact is that the background noise from the big bang is missing the lower frequencies, which would suggest that the original universe was small and unable to produce the longer wave length frequencies due to size limitations .

This Is How We Know The Cosmic Microwave Background Comes From The Big Bang
But we don't need to get that sophisticated to validate the Big Bang and falsify the alternatives. The observed temperature and spectrum of the cosmic microwave background has ruled out all alternatives, from Steady-State to Quasi-Steady-State to reflected starlight to Tired Light to terrestrial emission to Plasma Cosmology. The Big Bang is not accepted on ideology; it's accepted based on evidence. Unless a competitor comes along that can explain the omnipresent leftover glow in the Universe, it will remain a foundational pillar for us to build upon in our investigation of the Universe.......much, much more!

Good stuff and pics!

We may deduce that all the energy produced was what we can currently observe and measure, no?
Thought current theory was that all energy was already present and Big Bang was a event within said energy

:)

Yes but why do you think it is a scientific fact:rolleyes:
Alex

Yes.
I refuse to call it nothing however...nothing actually can not exist...also what I don't like is the impression that can be easily drawn that this quantum foam some how grew...it can only change from one state to another... be it bath salts to suds in the bath ..what goes in comes out...he has only selected nothing to make the subject interesting so as to sell a book and I condemn any attempt to make science interesting cause if you do they will make tv reality shows and I don't want that.

That's it god was having a bath and created the quantum foam...creationist science can keep up after all.

But I agree nothing is really something.

All evidence to show that the universe in some sense is eternal and requires no creator...yee-haw yee-haw yee-haw and we say this in rememberance of those who were crushed attempting to reach enlightenment.

Small objects are unable to generate long wavelengths. Hence the various wavelength spectra associated with size of the emitter.
Long wavelengths are missing from CMB, which suggests that the emitting source was small. The universe is now so big that it has wavelengths so large that have completed only 6 full cycles in some +13 billion years. See "the ringing Universe"

bigbang_expansion_ringing.gif

In this animated representation of the universe’s timeline, the first frame depicts the accepted model known as Lambda Cold Dark Matter, where the Greek Lambda stands for Einstein’s “cosmological constant.” The outline of the “bell-shaped” universe represents its expanding size. The transition time is the point in time at which the bell shape shifts from going inward to outward from left to right. The second frame shows the new University of Mississippi research suggesting that the universe has slowed down and speeded up, not just once, but seven times in the last 13.8 billion years. If this model is correct, the universe may be alternately expanding and contracting over billions of years. If this illustration is somewhat accurate, we are in an expanding phase (as observed), but eventually the universe will begin showing signs of shrinking, and again expanding, until the wave function flattens out completely.

I like that concept in view of the 1st thermodynamic law of conservation of energy. It also agrees with Bohm's Pilot Wave theory and his solution to the particle/wave duality paradox.

Eek....going way out on a limb here........oh well....it has a measure of logic....I hope....

You are making an ass of yourself.
Ho-hum.
Alex (the humble realist)
That response was much too quick. Seems you never even looked at the supporting links I provided.
I will take your response seriously once you have given this some attention instead of a kneejerk response. This is not a fantasy of my own making. Check the links...NASA/WMAP...woo?

Well that's because I have looked yet...and I won't for a while yet just switched on checking email, share prices, the death list, and the alerts here.
I save the good stuff for last.

I think you may have read my reply to Jan thinking it was for you.

Jan - what do you hope people in this thread who disagree with you, come to learn? (I've lost the point of this thread, sorry lol)

I don’t hope for anything, that would be a waste of time. I enjoy discussing, and the banter.
Whatever is learnt is but a consequence of that.
Do you hold a hope that people will learn from what you say in discussion, or banter?

OK read both links but they are essentially the same.
I don't think there is any suggestion the universe is expanding and contracting is there?
Speeding up and slowing down maybe.
What I find interesting is what mechanism could cause this...thinking about it briefly all that occurs to me is the wave may be generated by some form of resistance...and that raises the question from where does the resistance come from...our theory eliminates an external course but an internal resistance could not produce seven events one would think.
I am more inclined to think they have something wrong and their perceived wave is an illusion.
But I am not a scientist so my thoughts are most casual.
Thanks for giving me something to think about.
Got to go as I have some real tasks to address..but hopefully I will be back later.
