Right -- but they built that state. China as a nation is one of the most ancient in the world. They have always ruled oppressively and with violence and to this day, the people appear to be complacent to their environment. Therefore, we can reasonably assume that the majority of people of China are generally okay with the way things are run in their country. They don't live in a democracy, they live in a very corrupt crony state.
What you're doing is what every racist does-reducing a multi-dimensional people (and in this case, multi-cultural also) to a gross oversimplification to fit his or her prejudice.
You would not like it if someone said "All Americans are stupid imperialist thugs."
You're doing the equivalent, it's not ok.
China is not multi-cultural. In fact, it is one of the most ethnically homogenous countries in the world, dominated by the "Han Chinese" who descend way back to the ancient (we're talking BC) Han Dynasty. Roughly 92% of China is composed of this one giant ethnic group, with just a smattering of different minorities making up the remaining 8%. It has been thought that their ethnic homogeneity is responsible for a lot of the ethnocentrism and racism that the Chinese harbor toward other cultures and nationalities. Earlier in this thread I made a statement angered some people:
WillNever said:When a nation of people grows up looking the same and being trained to think and act the same, it's easy to imagine why their sense of individuality and conscience becomes rather muted within their psyche.
It is my belief that the Chinese lack the sense of unique purpose that the rest of us normal people are driven by, and that is because they have been trained into having an "anthill mentality."
